Description
ABC Blaise Academy is the first in a series of educational apps. This first game helps young learners of the French language (whether native French speakers, bilingual or not) develop their reading and writing skills in French. It promotes phoneme awareness in French as it teaches players how the letters in words are systematically represented by sounds. It also helps prepare children to decompose words into alphabetic letters and their corresponding sounds in order to develop reading skills. The section "words and sentences/mots et phrases" uses words which have been specifically selected for their relationship to the world of nature (to make it fun!) and for their sound-letter correspondence. Finally, it introduces young learners to the concept of sentences. The information is presented in a simplified fashion first, and then re-visited and presented several times in different formats and at more complex levels. The player is, therefore, exposed to the same information in different situations (to favor memorization) and at levels of gradually increasing difficultly. The game is worded completely in French in order to favor full immersion and sound recognition, but it is intuitive enough that any user (regardless of their native language) should be able to understand the directions to play it.
