Come explore the world of ideas in the Agora
This app has great potential to become a modern Agora just like the one in Ancient Athens, where people from around the world came to exchange their philosophical ideas freely. The nice thing about it being very small at the moment is that most of the people who have entered the Agora are there because they truly would like to exchange ideas and grow intrinsically. Reddit had that potential at one point, and in its incipient stages probably had a very similar kinship of energy to the Agora as it exists now in early 2021.
Reddit unfortunately has become a very toxic environment where most of the users are more interested in sophistic appeals to laughter and ad hominem attacks in order to receive adulation, and where moderators are inordinately censoring ideas that are not welcome in politically correct times. The downside with Agora not receiving wider promotion is that the conversation seems very sparse from the low number of users.
Hopefully the community will continue to grow, and the quality of its users and its overseers will be maintained or augmented as it expands. Best wishes. May philosophy as the ancients defined it continue to survive until a time when it will flourish once again.
