Ako Tahi means "Learn Together". It is a Te Reo Māori learning app that has been designed to help people learn the most commonly used Te Reo Māori phrases. Ako Tahi re-enforces learning through touch, vision, listening, speaking and by challenging yourself and others.
Please note: this is not a direct translation App; you cannot type any word/sentence in Te reo Māori to receive a full translation. This App contains a list of predefined words/sentences and will only show the results of the words/sentences that are in the App/Database.
All phrases and words have been approved by people who are fluent in Te Reo Māori, however we also understand there are other dialects, pronunciation of words and other factors that could differ throughout Aotearoa (New Zealand).
Ngāpuhi is a Māori iwi (tribe) associated with the Northland region of New Zealand and centred in the Hokianga, the Bay of Islands, and Whangarei. The Ngāpuhi Dialect has been chosen for use throughout this App.

Fixed numerous bugs and issues.
- Fixed the 'Load More' button and have re-added this feature into the App. The 'Load More' button is visible after scrolling to the bottom of a category that contains 35 or more phrases.
- Fixed issue with Audio. The audio would lose sync on the Challenge screen when clicking the 'Next' button.
- Fixed issue with the Favourites count. Not incrementing/decrementing correctly after changing between screens.
- Corrected 2 audio samples that were incorrect.

- More phrases have been added. There are now 1100+ phrases available
- Categories have been added to the main search screen
- Each of the phrase card's now contain a play button, favourites button and a send-a-text button
- Descriptions have been added to many of the phrase card's to give an explanation if required.
- Added ability to add Favourites
- Search and Favourite buttons have been added to the bottom of the screen to make it easier for your fingers to reach
- A flash card style screen has been added to test you and/or others
- A background wallpaper has been added
