a VT librarian,
Super useful, not too many glitches
The ability to save your own schedule and add other meeting times is great. Super useful and easy to use. So glad to have it! I can’t imagine doing all this with huge conference book.

Issues: map detail was too small to see easily (this may be especially so because of huge size of New Orleans conference center). Sometimes forced me to log in again (I almost remember my badge number). When I deleted an event from my calendar it would move my schedule to Friday every time, then I had to go back to the proper day.
Sireland82,
Needs improvement
I love having this on my phone. This time I didn’t even bother going through the massive book. However, it’s still very glitchy. Every time I tried to look at another day, it would flip back or shut down. I would also like some more features—if we could have categories like Exhibit Hall Stages, Signings, Sessions, and Meetings, we could then sort by those items to make things more manageable. The option to sort by location, like convention center, pop top stage, x hotel, etc would be nice. It would also be nice to be able to distinguish between what I want on my schedule and what sessions have presentations that I would like to look at later. I often review presentations I couldn’t attend, so it would be nice to keep those straight. Great idea, doing well, and I have no doubt it will improve with time.
AnnaMHolt,
Better than lugging the physical book.
It was a wonderful tool to have in my pocket! There were only two times it did not load for me at the Annual Conference 2019. In those instances, I needed to shut down the app and reboot.
I am not sure how the messaging tool works though. I sent a few messages to people I wanted to network with, but I never saw where to access them once sent out. I also am not sure the recipients of those messages ever saw the messages.

I can avoid lugging around the hard copy schedule book with this app. I gave it four stars instead of five because it is a bit slow at times and needs to be rebooted if you go off of it briefly. However, the former may have more to do with the wireless service here at the convention center.
ember lightly,
Still buggy
Thank you for the app, it did make finding sessions easier when it worked. I had everything loaded before the conference, so when I got there everything was deleted from the app after the app crashed several times on Saturday. Not sure why once I was at the conference I had to use the badge number on the mobile device while logging into the website with my ALA member number, so the conference sessions I had signed up for had been deleted from the app. Which didn’t help me on Sunday because it kept crashing.
Please fix.
bookybookerson,
Missing a bit
I used the app and liked it except for the following: not everything is in there (scheduled arc giveaways, affiliate gatherings, etc.) and it was not synchronized with the website. I had starred events on the website ahead of time and then had to do it again when the app was available. The app also kicked me out a few times. I liked that it syncs with my calendar and I was able to find people and message them.
63McK,
Scheduler needs work
It would be good to add 2 features: a universal search by time ( so if you have a free block, you could see everything available in one view - posters, exhibits, & sessions). The other thing is that all of your favorites of every kind of event should show in “ my schedule”. It was difficult to keep track of the different things and I missed some things as a result.
geealion,
Extremely useful!
This app was a blessing at my first conference. The integration of social media, the note-taking capabilities, and the ability to use it even while offline are especially dope.

However, it would be great if I could click links through Twitter on the app. The typing space for notes is also very tiny and awkward.
Nj bloodhound,
ALA App is pretty good
For selecting sessions and getting reminders for them. However, search is spotty—it didn’t return some vendors that are represented in the exhibits. Also, a map of the building showing your current location or at least providing guidance on which part of which building each session is in would be a valuable improvement.
TwilyghtSansSparkles,
Useful, but buggy at the worst times
I nearly missed a session because the app kept glitching. When I opened My Schedule, it kept glitching back and forth between days, not letting me scroll down to the time slot I needed. Because of this, I couldn’t see a session I’d scheduled and almost missed it. I suppose that should teach me to write down my schedule elsewhere, but I’d rather have consistent access to my schedule than learn a Very Important Lesson.
