Description
Alankarams are a set of rhythmic exercises that are taught to students of Carnatic Music, a system of music in India. The Alankarams are set in 7 different thalams ( Eka, Rupaka, Triputa, Matya, Jhampa, Dhruva, and Ata thalam).
These thalams feature 3 angams- laghu, dhrutham, and an anudhrutham. The laghu can be either in counts of 3, 4, 5, 7, or 9, which are referred to as Jathis - (Tisra Jathi, Chatusra Jathi, Khanda Jathi, Misra Jathi, and Sankeerna Jathi). The number of notes sung per beat can also vary, called "Nadai".
This app allows the user to select a base thalam, a jathi, and a nadai, then displays the corresponding alankaram given the inputs.
Any aspiring carnatic-music student must practice the alankarams.
