The [et] Alphabet — The Ancient Paleo-Hebrew Alphabet

The Phoenician alphabet is the oldest verified alphabet. It was derived from Egyptian hieroglyphs back in 1050BC and became one of the most widely used writing systems across the Mediterranean world, where it was adopted and modified by many cultures.

The Paleo-Hebrew alphabet is a local variant of the Phoenician alphabet and is the early form or root of the Hebrew and wisdom of the ancients.

The ancient Hebrew alphabet has very little resemblance to the modern Hebrew alef-bet, though the modern did evolve out of the ancient.

The ancient twenty-two Hebrew letters were originally pictures of animals, tools or parts of the body. Therefore even if you didn’t have a large word vocabulary you could still understand many root words by recognising the pictures and what they mean together.

The objective of this app is to teach the name, sound and meaning of each letter by associating it with common English words and sounds that are related to the original Hebrew. This will allow for an easier method of learning both the modern and the ancient Hebrew Alefbet.

Biblical Hebrew language has individual letters much like our English language which together form meaningful words but they also have a numerical value and each letter of the alphabet has a picture and pictorial meaning associated with it.

For example, the word for Father (אב) is made of two letters Alef (א) and Bet (ב). Alef has a pictorial representation of a strong ox while Bet (ב) is best represented by a tent or house hence it is easy to learn the Hebrew word for Father if you just learn the 22 letters of the alphabet and remember Father through its picture story which defines Father as a strong and safe house.

The Hebrew Bible has over 8,679 unique words so if you can learn the 22 letter Hebrew alphabet including its Paleo-Hebrew pictures you can begin reading Hebrew and meditating on the original text. You will be able to recognise and deciphering Hebrew on a deep and mysterious level simply because you know the Hebrew alphabet and their pictures which together paint words into easy to remember stories.

This app will help you learn Hebrew by first learning the Proto-Sinaitic script with its pictures and meanings which can form unforgettable word stories for every word which will make memorising Biblical Hebrew effortless.

There are not 22 letters, there are 27. This alphabet does not include the "final" letters, which are an essential part of the alphabet. It's like leaving the vowels out of the Roman alphabet; it's simply not complete.

On my iPhone SE, the writing frame is cut off at the bottom by the menu bar and there is no way to scroll, nor is there indication of stroke direction.

Also, while it is fine and good for Christians to learn Hebrew, emphasizing Christian meditation and Jesus in the in-app accompanying information to the exclusion of the major Jewish cultural and religious reasons to learn Hebrew is profoundly disrespectful. While it's in the subtitle, that is cut off on my interface and there's no mention of this in the App Store description, suggesting this was a deliberate choice to sneak this into the hands of learners who would not have downloaded a Christian-focused app. If you don't want to give that impression, align your text in the app more closely with the App Store description.
