Description
This app will guide you to twenty special places in the historic district of Anpruggen including the former house of correction, place of execution, leper colony, a bathhouse called ‘Venus,’ the first city park and modern sites still pulsating with life. These locations are situated by the riverside, along the road and on the (former) outskirts of town. Each location has shaped the history of Innsbruck’s oldest district in its own unique way.
Anpruggen means "at the bridge" and is the old historical name of the Mariahilf-St. Nikolaus district. Back when the settlement was founded, there were only simple huts and small buildings. For a long time, the Anpruggen district served as the city’s workshop. It was the district where criminals, the poor and sick, and later the "foreigners" made their home.
The charm of the district’s old buildings makes the area attractive today. New shops have opened and artists and designers have moved here. Make use of the app to get to know these innovators. The historical district of Anpruggen is looking forward to your visit!
