Description

Receiving APRS is 100% free. Only TX is paid.
Since APRS pro has been released, the popular hamradio network changed forever. This app has exciting features and a unique user interface because it was strictly designed for the most demanding hams only.
Unlike other APRS apps, you can swipe your fingers along the map and find what’s happening in remote areas across the globe, in real time!
With its built-in 300/1200 baud TNC audiomodem, you can optionally connect your iPhone directly to a HF or VHF Radio and work APRS (TX/RX) without cellular coverage. If you don't have a radio, the app will use the APRS-IS via internet, or you can use both systems simultaneously and gate RF traffic to IS, giving your contribution to the APRS-IS network. A digipeater is also included.
Search remote stations, find local analogue and D-STAR repeaters, modes and frequencies, echolink nodes, ham swap events, ham fests and shops and eventually weather reports. The richness of the information is so vast that even hams who didn't appreciate doing APRS just became fans of APRS pro.
Broadcast your own beacon! Send your location, speed, altitude, course, iPhone battery voltage and status, GPS signal quality and your own customizable text to the APRS network (including aprs.fi and findu.com) even when the app is running in background (it will drain less than 2% of your battery level every hour when running in background as the GPS will be turned ON only every ten minutes - with built in TNC switched off). If your device is charging, then the app will increase the transmission rate automatically.
The innovative and robust software design lets the app running for days, weeks, even monhts either in foreground or background without ever stopping.
APRSpro is a living app, just like the symbols of your beacon. If you are stopped you can "be" a "Cellphone", or a "Ham Operator". But if you start moving, the app will dinamically change your symbol to a "Car", or to a "Truck", even better, to an "RV". You are in full control, so you are the one who decides.
When driving, look for the best route by watching the native Live Traffic information displayed on the map. Decide if you want to see POI (Points of Interest), buildings, trails, callsign labels and compass. Disable the native screen saver for a "Always ON" smooth operation.
You can easily chat with other hams around the world, via the APRS network, as if you were just sending text messages. Our server will retrieve your messages and send them to you later even if you were offline.
The app will instantly retrieve the remote station’s location address and operator’s name. This is just great to connect to new ham friends while travelling. Then, jusk ask them for the best local atractions.
You can also link a SPOT/inReach Satellite tracking device to the APRS Network

Check for updates regularly as we will keep adding advanced features very frequently!

«Don't miss the excitement of the APRS activity! APRSpro is becoming a legend. Are you already a part of it?»

Six Gun Scott,
Pollutes aprs Network
When using this app with a transceiver, the app pollutes aprs network with excessive packet transmissions. Transmits frequent packets even with the beacon interval in off position. Every time you bring it up from the background it transmits a packet. This app transmits packets for no reason. The frequent packet transmissions seemed to start when I transmitted a aprs text and continued after the message was confirmed and didn't stop even after I deleted the QSO. A few hams in your area using this app with a transceiver will ensure nobody gets packets out due to packet collisions.

The app works ok until you purchase the TX option. It would've been nice to have some filters to get rid of weather stations and old stations still being displayed on the map. Would've been nice to see what time a packet was received as well.

*** If using this app with your transceiver, you must use at least 2 turns through a ferrite bead at the iPhone side of the cable or the stray RF will lock up your iPhone. ***
HarryHydro,
Transmits fine, no receive via the phone audio.
RX signal shows in spectrum below the S meter, but nothing decided. I even recorded it’s own output and played it back into it. No decodes.
TjBogdan,
Horrible!
Wasted $48 subscribing to the lifetime unlock of all the features, only to find that I couldn’t transfer the subscription from the pro to ultimate version. Neither version allows you to text (as advertised) via the APRS network. Horrible, hard to use, and virtually useless. Can not connect to a Bluetooth tnc, so your phone or tablet will be tied up, wired to it with all your notifications (phone call ringer, text alerts, email alerts, etc) turned off. No ability to download offline maps, so you will need Wi-Fi or cell service to use it (gee, if I had cell phone service or Wi-Fi, why would I even need to text via APRS?). Last, but most important, the email for the “help” link, or maker of the app is returned as undeliverable. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!
TheRedBullet1,
Why are their two apps? And no offline maps?
After some investigation on this app in relation to APRS. This app is only lacking one thing. OFFLINE MAPS. Using this application in conjunction with a transmitter or receiver working that side of the house. This app is really good at decoding and responding to packets sent to it. Really solid app with great possibilities. However I deleted both the deluxe and the ultimate versions due to no availability for offline map downloading. I would most definitely consider a re-download if the app had that one feature! (Posting to both apps on the App Store for this.) also, why is that? What is the difference between ultimate and deluxe?
mvsopen,
Could be great...
It works well for the Internet-connected APRS function, but adding an introduction and setup screen would really improve this app. Currently, once you pay the upgrade price, nothing appears to change, and you are pretty much left to figure out how to operate it for yourself. Also the "Alarm" transmit icon needs to be moved. It's too easy to press it by accident when you are pressing the APRS settings button to send a beacon. Why can't beacon be on the homescreen?
mvsopen,
It works, but…
The user interface needs a better UI design. Right now, it is too easy to hit the wrong button, and turn on/off something you didn’t intend to.

Also the user forum is only on Facebook, which many of us do not use.
rAllcorn,
Great app, not an iPad app at all
This app would be wonderful if it supported landscape mode the way iPad apps do. I ran it, and it reverted back to portrait display mode, like on an iPhone. So, it’s not truly an iPad app ... yet. But it looks like I’m going to like it once they fix the orientation bug.
qqwqqww ゆら,
Constantly stops transmitting
Even with TX set to 30 minutes or whatever, and location access set to always, and full access to the app being paid for, the app frequently stops transmitting. There is no help available. I wouldn’t buy this.
dawlyx,
No support whatsoever
There’s no manual or guide. You can’t download maps for usage where there is no 4G connection. Works with a device with a 3.5mm audio jack but I cannot get it to work with a device through the lightning port. It was promising, but I strongly discourage giving this developer any money
Cantatoris Christus,
Does not work and there’s no support.
The app works well when connected to a network but APRS was designed for off-network use. I was able to share location over Tx/Rx to aprs.fi but transmit or receive messages to SMSGATE over radio is broken. While checking their websites, the developer may respond once every three or four years. It’s an extremely “chatty” app and may irritate some bandwidth providers.
