this game is so fun but...
Armello is such a unique game that captivates me every time. The game provides novellas to connect with the characters, and the characters themselves are all very charming. there's so much to it and I wish there were other games more like this. although it is fun, the updates are very inconsistent and you only get new stuff once every 5-7 months (usually a new chest series). I think the developers have a lot of catching up to do specifically for the mobile version of this game if you compare it with the Xbox and PC version. The app usually runs pretty smoothly but there is an occasional but very annoying glitch that happens now and again where the game just stops after a person finishes their turn and the game doesn't advance, which makes everyone leave and have to start a new game. Apart from the updates and glitching, its a bit nostalgic since it has a Redwall sort of vibe which is why i loved it so much in the first place and even though there isnt a lot of new stuff it never gets boring! I strongly recommend this game to everyone and I hope the Devs read this so they can maybe fix the glitch or the update problem.

Previous Review Mysteriously Deleted So...
This is a great mobile adaptation of the PC/Mac game. While it’s “free-to-play,” the inevitable IAPs have nothing to do with cooldowns and timers, and are, instead, persistent content. You can pretty much unlock everything for about the same price as purchasing the game outright on desktop. Of course, if they were to charge the full price upfront, nobody would buy it because mobile gamers only like “free” games .
Why not 5 stars then? Because the developers just couldn’t resist inserting a “loot crate” mechanic into the game in the form of Wyld Chests. These cost real money, but the contents can range from mostly worthless to extremely valuable, with the odds being heavily skewed toward mostly worthless. Of course, if you get enough of these near worthless dice, you can combine 5 of them to form a randomly selected upgraded set of dice from the next tier. You can then combine these twice more to get the ultimate dice (which are still just dice, By the way). That’s 500 pairs of dice to upgrade from the lowest tier to the highest.
Stay off of this expensive hamster wheel. Be patient. Log in once per day to get the free chest, and just focus on playing the game instead of gloating over your dice during multiplayer games because your dice are moar awesomer than theirs.

A fine game. Hope you have the time to play it.
Armello is a game that I never knew I wanted: a classic tabletop game with a board and dice on my phone. It’s random, almost chaotic at times, and I couldn’t enjoy the thrill more. If you care about this sort of thing, which I definitely do, you can plunge into the story behind the game and characters through novellas that League of Geeks releases, which add that lore satisfaction which isn’t necessary but assuredly appreciated. And just like actual board games, Armello takes a while to finish. One game, if played seriously, can stretch for twenty minutes to half an hour, which is relatively short by board games standards but absurdly long for most mobile games, at least the ones I play. You’ll also want to have your phone charged or charging while playing, as this game goes through battery life like Cookie Monster through chocolate chip cookies. And if you’re playing online and someone quits, I’m so sorry you have to face the bloodthirsty, unrelenting abomination that takes their place. But overall, Armello is the kind of fun from a different time and one rarely seen in mobile games, and that’s a wonderful thing.

Fun game, minor issues
Really enjoying this game so far--the worldbuilding, the game mechanics, the art, the music; all great. Was a little miffed iTunes said my iPad could play it only to download it and find out that wasn't the case, so i'm playing on my phone. Don't mind the 'loot crate' aspect of the iOS version of the game per se, but i do mind that i've completed multiple challenges only to have the associated loot not unlock.
I've also encountered a few in-game issues: rot battles not always happening when they should (unless i've misunderstood what the in-game guide says), and cards sometimes having a slightly different effect from what the text says the cards do (sometimes to my advantage, sometimes not). I don't know if these are 'bugs' or if there just needs to be some clarification of in-game text.
I haven't tried the multiplayer yet, so it didn't factor into my review. I'm hoping i'll be able to play against friends who have the game on Steam/Switch/etc., as opposed to only other iOS players.

Great Game
The game is pretty great. The gameplay is addictive and fun, the graphics are pretty good considering it’s the iPhone, and you actually get rewards for playing against AI players (apps don’t always do that). There can be some lag with the dice rolling (update: there usually has to be a lot of dice for this to happen), but it doesn’t crash the game (update: which is honestly great considering how many apps will crash from the smallest amount of lag). The multiplayer take a minute, but that just may be the lack of people playing multiplayer in my server. Besides this there is a bug in which tabbing out to another app and coming back will stop all sound from the app, but that just requires you closing and reopening the app to fix it. And besides the previously mentioned bugs, the game is a solid one.
Update: I saw in the last update that the app developers said that the game can’t run on anything less than a iPhone 6. But I can say for a fact that it runs fine on IPhone 5s.

Brilliant
Brilliant port with stunning visuals (especially on iPad Pro) and deep but accessible gameplay. A game usually lasts 30 minutes to an hour, feels urgent but not rushed. Takes strategy & practice, planning moves and card-plays ahead feels chess-like, while battles and perils are dice based and can be unpredictable & risky (the underdog sometimes wins the battle) Some people complain about watching NPCs (guards and banes) taking their turns, but there is an option to speed up that process if you’re in a hurry. Immersive visuals and fairly balanced gameplay. Playing with each faction feels totally different, but none is OP. The only urge that there is to purchase content within the game comes from wanting to play again and again with new personalities & added depth, and to reward the brilliant developers behind this unique game, not because there is any pay-to-win slant or nagging from the app. Truly generous to have all this content for free on the iPad ... this base game is $20 on PC and worth every penny.

My favorite mobile game and one of my favorite games period
This game is so well put together, it shows how much effort the developers put in and it’s also super addictive! No two games are the same, not even close! It’s such a nice digital board game that incorporates a bunch of things that wouldn’t be possible for regular board games like invisibility! I know I’m making it sound like there’s nothing wrong with it but there is one thing that could be better, even if you don’t have a bounty and another hero does (this only applies to single player) the other computers will almost always target you even if you never attacked them. But even so that’s a super small nit pick for this absolutely phenomenal game!!! Great job League Of Geeks can’t wait for the rest of the rivals to come out and I can’t wait for even more characters to be added!!! Keep up the good work everyone thanks for making an amazing game!

It’s fun, but buggy
I downloaded this game when it was promoted on the app store for International Women’s Day 2019. I like the turn-based board game feel, but now that I’ve played this game for a bit I’m disappointed. I’ve succeeded the qualifications of several achievements, but I’m not getting credit for them. Instead they remain locked on the achievements screen. I’ve sent several bug tickets in, but I didn’t receive any response about if it was received or not. In the game it suggests posting screenshots to a forum, but when I follow the link, the forums don’t exist. So I sent an additional email to their contact address, along with screenshots, to no response. TBH I’m really disappointed, and while initially I was considering BUYING the desktop games, I no longer think that it’s worth the money to invest in a game that the developers don’t care to fix. So expect this mobile game to be entertaining enough to pass time, but not worth your money to upgrade to the full desktop version, because your satisfaction and input isn’t worth their time to improve.

Worth fixing
This is a beautiful game with lots of options and subtleties to it. It’s worth playing and a nice, smooth experience with only a few touch based issues which taught me to be very careful with my gestures. Just zooming in and out can make you accidentally move to a wrong location. Other people have pointed it out and you need to keep this in mind as every choice is important in this game. My biggest reason for this not being 4 or even 5 stars is the Challenges. Completing these challenges should grant rewards that can be saved to unlock content but the third column doesn’t function at all. After spending hours working towards them it was extremely frustrating to not see them unlock. And these challenges aren’t unlocking huge amounts of in game currency so it is extra annoying when even that little bit is denied. Fix this problem and I’ll happily increase my rating. Even with this bug and the speed at which this game drains my battery I still feel it is worth at least 3 stars.

A good game plagued with problems
First off, this a good game, not great. Given that and without the problems I’d rate it 4 stars, which isn’t bad. However, I have had crashes in game and even loading to opening screen issues non-stop since I started playing it. I also cannot ever find enough players (only 4) to do a multi-player game in my time-zone (Japan), except once, which was dumped when I received a call from my father during startup of the match and waved him away after a minute or so. It is. Amazingly easy to win solo games when you learn how. The AI on solo is not random so much, but what AI is? While it should make the match more difficult, which it does I suppose in its own way, it also makes it more predictable. If you can learn to adapt and see which path leads to victory, you should win at least 4 of every 5 matches or even 9 of 10. I’d like to play a match now but it won’t atm. ~sigh~ Maybe 2 stars is too much, reading what I wrote. No. I still enjoy playing it. Maybe because it is so easy.
