Amatzikahni,
Should be more popular
Try the free version of this app by the same developer, then see why I've purchased the full version multiple times across multiple platforms. This app is simple, thorough, and perfect for my learning goals.

No Frills Flashcards
This app does right what so few Kanji apps do: offers a to the point, no-nonsense, non-gimmicky, set of digital flash cards for studying kanji. Do not be fooled by the simple presentation, this app will help you to do the hard work needed to memorize kanji. It will actually save you tons of time because you don't need to make our own flashcard set.

The best feature of the app is that you can be quizzed on different elements of the characters separately. So first you can focus on meaning, then after you know their meanings you can do separate quizzes for on'yomi and kun'yomi. It makes a huge difference being able to work on each aspect of the kanji via different types of quizzes. This will keep you from getting overwhelmed.

Is there room for improvement? Sure, but the beauty of this app is its simplicity. Be sure to have a pen and paper with you to practice your writing and you will be set.

Good luck to everyone in their Japanese Studies.

Kanji Fun
After using this program online for two years I finally bought the app. It's fun and easy to use. It's really a review aid, so it helps if you already know 15 or 20 kanji with at least one reading before you get started. You can use it to learn the readings also, but I don't use that aspect as much as I should. Half of the program is in English, but to get the full benefit reading hiragana is also necessary. I like the variety of settings that allow you to test yourself on a lot of material or just a little. Thanks so much for creating this app! NW

Great app for learn kanji
Started using this program online at first and it great. This quizing myself aa been the must useful thing for learn a good group of kanji (50+) at a time . The key to it is repeat repeat over and over thats how you learn kanji. Not to mention it gived you all the readings and info that you need to know for the kanji. Best japnese app worth 3 bucks
Gorilla Jones,
Great value for the money
This is a very powerful kanji study app. It's easy to set the range of kanji you'd like to study, and the level of detail is excellent. It doesn't allow you to create your own practice sets, though, and it's bit odd that the app has a section for reports (how well you did on a given test) but doesn't save those reports beyond a day, making it impossible to see how you've done over time or how you're doing with on-yomi vs. kun-yomi. Still, it's one of the best kanji study apps for the price.

The only Japanese Flashcard That Does What It Says
Amazing. It has 2000+ kanji at a cheap price. Definitely worth the money. It has 6 different drills to study the Kanji, as well as Flashcards. I wasted $25 dollars on another Flashcard app that just wastes gigabytes on my phone. Get this instead.
alysakow,
Great App!
A couple of suggestions to make it 5 stars are adding a sound component to the kunyomi and onyomi sections, so that one could click these and hear the pronunciation. Also, the ability to track one's amazing progress with this learning tool by graphing scores or at least compiling them into a table with quiz taken, dates and scores would be great! Thanks for creating this app!
Torichantorisutan,
worth it!
although you can get some kanji apps for free, NONE of them amount to what this does!:)
First off, you get to organize kanji several helpful ways like by jouyou, and when you are studying it not only gives you on and kun yomi, but also gives you compounds!:)) If you don't learn compounds there is basically no reason to learn kanji in the first place! while you are studying you can choose the hide the on or kun yomi for example if you are studying the readings, but the format in which you do so isn't confusing at all!:D if that wasn't good enough, you get to quiz yourself over what you learned in multiple ways like readings or meanings!!!:)) afterward you can take the encore section to study what you missed

I LOVE THIS APP

concensus:
don't waste your time trying to find a good free app, just buy this! promise its worth it!

go to japanese-kanji. c om and use the handy thing they have there if you want to learn more, it's the same thing!:)

Great app and worth the purchase.
Absolutely one of my favorites! Tracking performance and having example sentences would make this a five star. A sound component would also be an excellent upgrade..... As in hear the word and pick the kanji.

I have no background in learning Japanese. So I figured flash cards would be a good start yet it shows pictures and gives meaning in English so you can recognize the symbols but not understand how to say them in Japanese so I don't really understand the point.
