tjdp01,
My favorite app
I have hundreds of apps. Some for film making, some for games, some for productivity. This one is the one that truly transforms my iPad into another tool. I don’t know why apple didn’t build these tools in, but Astropad certainly covered it when it comes to working with Apple Pencil in graphic programs. There is no comparison to other apps that share or mirror screens and allow for pen input. This one is in its own league. Its great that they are inventing new hardware to allow for second screen use. If you use this regularly then Studio Annual is helpful but not needed to get most benefits. My only improvement request would be a way to enable apple pencils (which are the best stylus IMHO) to have an optional hover feature so you can have the curser move without making contact. But without hacking them, thats on apple to figure out. And for all I know maybe that feature exists, I just haven’t seen it yet. Bravo to this app!
GadgetMojo,
Can’t own/buy this app - pay monthly
With so many great painting apps out there that you can actually *buy* it always amazes me how these subscription apps stay in business. This app costs $12 per month, every month. It’s like you’re automatically buying a new app every month. Just do the math, how many subscription apps can you afford? Say you subscribe to 5 apps at $10, that’s $50 per month! If that’s your spending limit that means you can’t buy any more new apps unless you stop subscription to one of the existing apps. But then you lose that app. All the money you paid them - gone! Subscription model for apps just doesn’t work for the consumers. I will only subscribe to services or content providers. But subscribe to a product? Never. Put a price on it. $50, $80, whatever, if it’s worth it we’ll buy it. But the subscription model “hides” the costs making it seem less expensive. Well let me “unhide” it. If you use this app for 5 years you will pay $400. And even then if you stop paying you lose it. Does it worth it? It might be to some people. I buy a lot of music apps, if even 10% of them were subscription based I would be paying $1,000 each month.

Some of the painting apps I *bought* and enjoy are: Procreate, Affinity Photo, SketchBook (before it went free). If they make the next version of these apps, I’ll happily pay again. But when I’m ready. Not automatically. I want to be in control of my spendings. This month I’m dropping $100 on apps next few months could be zero.

Must Have software for designers
This software was one of the major reasons I was willing to purchase my iPad Pro. The more functionality I can get out of a single product, the better and being able to use my iPad as a graphics tablet was HUGE. And it’s not just a crummy, I guess your to cheap or lazy to purchase the real thing style replacement. With the Apple Pencil, Astropad Studio works great and I feel zero regret letting go of the graphics tablet I’ve been using. It’s been an upgrade.

However, I only gave this app four stars because I’ve had some issues with connection and stability with the app. I can’t use the device without it being connected via usb because there’s is too much lag and disconnecting over WiFi.

The other major reason I’ve considered dropping Astropad, at least the studio version is that it is a little pricey. I really wish there was an option to just buy the app up front. Tbh, I’d ne happy to pay $80 for this app up front if it was just a one time purchase. Im still one the fence because I definitely need and appreciate the options that the come with the Studio version, and I honestly don’t think Astropad Standard would be a useable alternative for me.
ThisDarlingLife,
Perfect tool for professional photo editing!
I typically edit my photos with a connected Wacom Intuos Pro tablet, but it makes for a larger setup. When I came across Astropad Studio Pro, I had to try it. Seriously, it has been a game changer for me to be able to use my iPad Pro with Pencil anywhere in my space. I have had zero issues with lag so far and the interface is super easy to navigate. I’m able to finish up my client work so much quicker with this app and can not recommend it enough! (It’s really nice to take a break from sitting at my desk 100% of the time and Astropad allows for this.)

Also: For all of the people complaining about costs, I personally think it’s worth it (if you’re a full-time professional doing client work, like myself).
Slice_ONE.,
More than just a mirror app
Whether remotely or wired, this app provides a snappy, quick and smooth connection to your desktop. It blends the cool gestures and features of the tablet with the desktop seamlessly. It allows for all sorts of gesture customizations, e.g you can change the 3 finger redo command to any command you want. You can customize hotkeys for each program you have on your desktop. A huge plus for me is the capability to incorporate a middle click using a finger/pencil gesture.

Great app if you want to use your tablet and pencil to control your computer. It’s a bit expensive but I found the yearly subscription to be worth it, especially if you work on programs that aren’t available to download on the tablet.
jior design,
Serious question
I tried the software out a month back and liked it. I was ready to go all in with the full professional version until reading a review complaining that this is heading in the "abandonware" direction. Is this true? Are you guys kick-starting a full product from the hardware up and putting the "Astropad Studio" project on the back burner?... That would be disappointing, especially since you guys have something great here. Being able to use my iPad pro as a graphic tablet is much more satisfying than going out and purchasing another piece of hardware for the sole purpose of design. I hope this is not the case as I was excited to subscribe.
SEANBOMBZ,
I use this to control plugins in pro tools!
I’ve used duet display and V-Control. Both work good but astropad gives me more control over size of screen and has very low latency over usb on my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9. I tinkered with the idea of getting a slate raven for controlling plugins but now I don’t need to. Would I like the option to buy the app? Of course but subscription seems to be the way developers can afford to eat. Everybody wants free these days without taking into consideration the amount of time and effort it takes to keep up with the forever stream of os and iOS updates. I happily subscribe to any app that stays current and offers bug free software.

Genielam,
Best iPad to Wacom tablet converter
I found this app during the struggling time of the beginning of my classes becoming remote classes instead of in person classes during the beginning of the corona virus quarantine. I’ve been using it for a few days now and I gotta say this is one of the best apps out there right now to convert my iPad Pro into a Wacom tablet and be able to draw straight into my MacBook Pro on adobe animate cc. It just works amazingly well and super convenient. I have all of this technology now that I had to scramble to get and figure out due to the quarantine and now I am feeling truly blessed and super appreciate that this app exist. Very useful and just perfect.
dahno,
Surprisingly excellent
It just...works. Even without WiFi, it mirrors Photoshop to the iPad well. It does not quite turn desktop Photoshop into a native iPad experience, but it comes close. I’ve never used a Cintiq at length, but I did experiment for a week with a 13” model to try to decide what to buy. The iPad Pro + AstroPad won out. The flexibility of the iPad, AstroPad’s ability to work over WiFi (I mostly plug it in but I don’t *have* to), not having to deal with the Cintiq’s bulky cables, and also just liking AstroPad’s shortcuts, are some reasons. Looking forward to their Luna product, which will allow the iPad to be a true 2nd screen instead of just a mirror.
Westofsanity1,
Good for Animate CC
It’s a really good app- very useful. However, there is a slight lag, which seems to get worse the older your computer is. I have a relatively new computer, so the lag isn’t too bad unless I’ve been using the app to animate for a few hours. But my brother’s Mac is a bit older and the lag is too much, so he can’t use it.

However, this app works infinitely better than Astropad Standard. That is, depending on what you’re using it for. I’m using it for animation, so the lag was insane on Standard and the whole process was very frustrating. Studio works better for adobe apps.

I’d give the app more stars if it was less expensive, as well. It’s more expensive than photoshop, which I DO NOT get. Then again, I’m kinda a cheap person.
