Bawb21,
Excellent content
I’ve used this application for some time. The content is excellent. I’ve spent many hours listening to the material, and have gone through many of the courses. The material is just fantastic, and there is really no other place to get the lectures of Ayn Rand, Leonard Peikoff, Harry Binswanger, Onkar Ghate, Tara Smith, Keith Locktich etc. It has become my go-to application for philosophical content, and I’ve found myself re-playing some of the material more than once!
But I’m having trouble with running the application. There could be some improvements in how the app remembers where you are (it seems to work sometimes, not reliably). Also, it is sometimes difficult to move the cursor to move to a particular point - which I find myself having to do because the app doesn’t know where I am in a lecture.

The real problem, that prompted this review: This week, as I was going through Leonard Peikoff’s OTI (wow), around lesson #6, I couldn’t get it to load. Now it looks like the entire course won’t load ... frustrating, since I was right in the middle of the “induction of Objectivity”. I’ve noticed that the course on “Logic” also has the same problem ... what’s going on? Other material seems to play normally.

As a last resort, I’ve deleted the application because it seemed to be using too much memory.
I will now try to reload the application and restart it.
JessicaW63,
Great app for learning about philosophy of objectivism... and philosophy in general
If you are interested in smart, reasonable people thinking clearly about the deepest questions about human life, this app is for you. If you want to learn more about Objectivism, the philosophy of Ayn Rand, this app is for you.

The app is easy to navigate and find high quality source material on a wide variety of topics of interest — ethics, theories of knowledge, capitalism, logic, the role of emotions, human happiness and flourishing, education and teaching resources, etc. There are lecture courses, videos, and articles from Ayn Rand as well as scholars who have spent many years studying her philosophy. It is like a modern, digital reference library for top-notch Objectivist thought.

What a great app; I love it.
There’s a huge amount of courses available. In less than a week I’ve been able to listen to hours of lectures no matter where I am.

I’m starting with the basics and moving on to the more advanced and plan to eventually listen to them all. Things I learned years ago are better understood already.
BuffaloMan50,
Horribly buggy
I suppose to be fair, the fact that i can listen to the audio with my screen closed is a neat feature but this highly offset by the fact i can't finish a single course because of the number of glitches. I start a course and then a lecture will crash and I'll have to find a way to restart the lecture and by that time i have lost my spot. I am not sure why it is prompting me to download when all it seems to be doing is some 'pseudodownload' that takes 5 sec. If it were really downloading onto my phone, at least i could find it in my download folder and use it with another app or iTunes.
Zafferano,
Wow!
ARI has been producing excellent courses for years but it has not always been easy to access that content, and especially so on mobile. I’m thrilled they now have an app that makes finding and accessing their courses so seamless. Very well-designed and functional app!
igilmore,
Great content, weak ui
Content is great but the UI could use some work. For example, the lock screen has back/forward buttons but instead of going back/forward 30 seconds it skips to the previous/next episode. It also has difficulty keeping track of where you are in a file. This is worse when offline, even for downloaded files.

History of Philosophy
I’m going through Peikoff’s History of Philosophy and it’s so fun! Really informative to see how philosophy grows and changes over time. I also enjoy the explaining of how each philosopher challenges previous ideas.
taltsfany,
Best philosophical content on the go!
It was hard getting your hands on this content in an organized way before the Ayn Rand Institute’s campus.
With this app,I can listen to courses, lectures and talks anywhere. I love it!
This content has changed my life.
Abtinf,
Live the good life
This app has a ton of free courses on philosophy, many of which used to be pay-only.

It also includes the option to download courses for offline viewing, which is great for commutes and flights.
irishiwasdrinking,
Love the content!
Super excited all of these speeches are available. Thank you!

Quick note on the app. I cannot use the downloaded content unless I am connected to the internet. FYI
Thanks.
