Description

B737 Cockpit Companion for iPad is a conversion of Bill Bulfer's B737 NG Cockpit Companion book series to an iPad app. It covers the NG, Classics, and the 737 MAX.

Since 1998, B737 Cockpit Companion has been a valued resource for airline pilots worldwide. It is a convenient accessible guide to systems, incorporating notes on functionality, "theory of operation", and Bill's extensive experience as a line pilot with a major US carrier.

B737 Cockpit Companion steps far beyond the "need to know" philosophy that is characteristic of modern systems training, and which frustrates many line pilots.

The app is much more than an "eBook." At its heart is a powerful database engine that allows a tremendous number of configuration options to be customized without forcing the user to wade through clutter: When you browse a control head, for instance, you will see only content related to that control head.

The app features a touch-based navigation scheme, so you can start with the top-level cockpit view, and find notes specific to the panel you deal with.

It also contains a number of reference options, so you can look up data without having to work through the control panels.

The major features include:

- Extensive coverage of the B737-600, -700, -800, -900, the BBJs, the 737 MAX, and the Classic EFIS/EIS.

- The complete text of the B737 NG Cockpit Companion print version--and more.

- All-new, high-resolution graphics detailing every panel and control head.

- A note-taking capability.

- The ability to create your own flashcards.

- An extensive index of over 700 items, linked to the main text.

- A circuit breaker locator.

- Bill's high-resolution, vector-based schematics.

- The content of the B737 Alerts app—a $15 value—optimized for the new database.

- An extensive glossary.

- A database update feature to help keep the database up to date (requires a wireless connection).

Of interest to students or prospective pilots, we also include:

- A sample Limitations function.

- A sample Master Minimum Equipment List, based on FAA Rev 55a.

- An ATA chapter database.

As with all products of this type, this program is for informational purposes only. Your FAA-approved company flight manual is the final authority as to the safe and correct operation of your airplane.

One optional in-app subscription, "Pro App", is available. This includes the text of FMC Guide, Bill Bulfer's book on the Flight Management System; and Quizzer. This is a convenient way of reviewing systems operation, and was written by Bill.

• The subscription lasts one year.
• Payment will be charged to your iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase
• The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and identify the cost of the renewal at the time.
• Subscriptions may be managed by you, and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to your iTunes Account Settings in System Settings after purchase.

NOTE: The app is supported and designed for the iPad 4 and later. We strive to support the app on two iOS revisions older than the current system. The app is, therefore, not supported on the original iPad (2010), iPad 2 (2012), iPad 3 ("The new iPad", 2012), iPad 4 ("iPad with Retina display", 2012), or the original iPad Mini (2012). As of September 2020, it requires iOS 12 or later.

Wajapop,
A long career with Bill (and a huge surprise at the end…read on)
I am on final approach with a long career with a well known B737 Company who I’ve loved working for. Bill and his companions have been with me most of it (33 yrs).

When I first found out about his book CC i bought it…..and later the CC app. What a resource! It helped me through many checkrides and through many systems analysis situations over the years……Thank you Bill!

He also wrote a book called the FMC Companion (when I didn’t have a lot of resources about the FMC because we used so little of its capabilities early on). He helped me gain an understanding of the system and I’ve built on it ever since thanks to that early resource…

But here is the MONUMENTAL GIFT he gave me. In the additional techniques section of the FMC Companion there was a section on flying the aircraft using the MCDU/VNAV (or DES) descent page 3R. THIS CHANGED THE WAY I FLEW THE AIRCRAFT. It’s called the Vertical Bearing method. Look at The FMC Companion Techniques section if you want to learn a way to fly this aircraft with the most SITUATIONAL AWARENESS that you can…..

Thank you Bill

jetpilot1960,
A Pilot Friendly reference guide
I’ve been flying 737’s for 23 years and have always kept a copy of the Cockpit Companion in my flight bag.

The App, with the quizzer, is a great addition to the company manuals, it is a perfect way to stay up on the systems and prepare for recurrent training. I also find it a useful resource in Line Operations (i.e. have an MEL want a little more systems back ground than is provided in the MEL - the CC comes out for a quick review).

Additionally, the airline training foot print has moved away from the deep systems knowledge of the past (remember the “I’m a air molecule, draw my journey through the bleed system?”) to more “pilot” friendly. The problem is I find a lot of the new hires don’t have the deep systems knowledge of yesteryear. The Cockpit Companion App fills that gap and provides the systems information from the Pilot perspective that the AFM just can’t reproduce.

If you are serious about being an aviator, this App is a must have.
Stonks! Stonks! Stonks!,
More than worth the money!
Doesn’t matter if you’re a pilot or mechanic. If your job involves flying or fixing these MF’ers, this app will not disappoint. The system schematics and descriptions really explain what’s going on. I’ll use it as a quick reference/refresher whenever I can. Obviously though the FM or applicable MX manuals take precedence but everything is explained simply but correctly. Also if you ever come upon something that isn’t quite right, let Bill know. He is very knowledgeable and wants to have everything top notch.
DC9-727-737-757,
The Best 737 APP!
I have had this app since it came out years ago. I have about every edition of CC book also. They both are amazing! What I love about the app most is before I call MX about an issue on the aircraft, I can come here and get the knowledge I need about the item before I call my maintenance guy. Now I am on same page as they are when we discuss the issue. The app is so easy to use. Bill is constantly adding information to it. Always always updating.........If you fly the B737 YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS. SHOULD BE MANDATORY!!!
05760,
Amazing tool
I have used CC for many many years. Even back when it was only in written form. I purchased it for all our pilot and distributed then at no cost to them. Our level of knowledge was raised exponentially. The interactive version was even better! Thanks for many years of great work and the increased level of safety you have provided to countless families and pilots due to the increased knowledge you have provided to us !!!
NG 50,
My go to source for an answer about the 737
I have been flying the 737 for 25 years and this is the best information that you will ever find about a system. Easily understood from/ to a pilots perspective.
I originally had the hard copy years ago but this app is so quick and easy to find an answer about a system.
Not to replace my company’s FAA approved publications but it doesn’t take me any time to review a part of the flight deck with “cockpit companion!”

Thank You!!!
Prosperjets,
Excellent for Check-ride Prep & Reference Aid
I reference this app when preparing for every check-ride. It helped me prepare for Captain upgrade and I use it to cross reference my other B737 material when I have any kind of systems questions. I really love the easy visual layout. I can very quickly drill down to the answers I need just by clicking on the different panels and lights just the way they are in the cockpit. It’s a very user friendly and frequently updated app.
DCM1969,
Incredible learning material
This app is incredible. I keep coming back to it for reference, for learning, and get something out of it every time. The developer of this app understands how we learn and the process of training on an airplane. I’ve purchased multiple study guides and transport category apps, and this one is the best - by far.
I wish the maker of this app would do the same thing for other aircraft!
MTBIGSKY,
Outstanding Application
I am a 737 Check Airman for a major airline. This is by far the best systems study guide for the systems on this plane. When I have a question I will often find the answer here then go to the Co issued systems manual. More often than not the Co manual is somewhat vague on various systems. The interactive nature of this application makes it very easy to find answers and simply review the panels when flying along at cruise. Well worth the price.
MAXflyingagain,
Captain of Decades
I have been flying the 737 for 20 years and teaching it’s systems for seven. CC has been in my flight bag the whole time. First in hard copy in my original brain bag. Now in e copy in my EFB. Don’t leave home without it if you want quick and accurate system answers on the road.
