snwbrdr113,
Good app can be a lot better though
I finally took the plunge and bought this app even though it's ridiculously expensive. I'm confused as to why the developers decided to remove the recording feature that is present in baby scratch though. This app is great and people need to stop complaining about how you can't put your music in straight from your iPad. That is a limitation put on developers by Apple and there is no way to get around it. If the developers implement the voice recording that they had in baby scratch then this would definitely be a 5 star app... But I really hope that for $25 the developers at least have the decency of continuing to update the app with features like voice recording and saving your mix. Then it would be worth every penny.
neilkod,
Responsive, sounds great, and FUN!
What strikes me the most about Baby Decks is how responsive it is. From the decks themselves to the fader, to the transform buttons, there is zero latency. The included samples are terrific - they even include a battle record with some well-known scratches. Sound quality is terrific. They also nailed the torque on the decks - anyone using 1200s will feel right at home on these virtual decks.

The digital fader works surprisingly well, the transform buttons are even better.

The only feedback/criticism I have is that the pitch slider seems to have too broad of a range. I'm sure the developers can either fine-tune it or make it user-adjustable. Otherwise, everything is just perfect. Other virtual decks have lag and latency issues, not this one.

The App is great however there are a few nags!
being that the platers are so small you tend to run your fingers over the arms and displace your self.

The tracking tends to lag after a few moves.
The tracking don't keep up with human speed.
there a small bit of latency.

Due to the lack of touch sense you cant alter the pitch by holding the tips or gliding your fingers over the "record"

Lastly at least for now, the cross fader does not actually fade.
from the center position to 95 to 98 % left or right no fade, it just cuts ( mutes ) the respective turntable!

Also it would be nice to have a single Table view.

This way we can just cue up some tune and groove along with it while gaining extra space.

There is an App out there that figured out out to simulate touch sense using the mic ( Headphone or audio cable must be used to that the mic does not pick up the speaker) who knows if Im dreaming.

Maybe there could be a IPAD pro with a new Retina display that responds to not only touch but is also sensitive to pressure.
This would take Music apps to a whole new level but then again some bloke would slap the ipad to hard and blame apple for the glass breaking lol.
The app works fine for my needs just a few things. Im sure there are those out there who are able to master the functionality as is.
Doc Pop,
A great start for iPad djing apps
Baby Decks is one of the best turntable apps for the iPad. I've even been using it in my live shows, but I'm hoping the developer will continue to develop this powerful app.

The torque and feel of the turntables is perfect and the ability to upload your own tracks is great. It can't pull from your iTunes, but I don't believe Apple will enable that option for anyone, so the developer is doing the next best thing.

I wish the turntables were bigger and some of the buttons could be moved out of the way. Hopefully this can get fixed. I LOVE using the developer's free Baby Scratch app, which was designed for the iPhone, on my iPad because the record size makes it so easy to cue the records.
Roger Goatsmythe,
Solid App, Needs more features for the price *UPDATE... USB?*
Update: Just read the Apple mailing list thread, and it looks like iPad does support USB audio class compliant interfaces right now, the functionality is exposed in core audio!!!! Howabout that cue channel? Weeeeeeee!

It's nice when developers concentrate on nailing their core feature set before adding extra stuff, and that's what you have here. The Flare engine is awesome given it's small performance/memory footprint and low latency, and the output is suitable for FFT based dj systems like Serato Scratch live.

That said, this thing costs a pretty penny, and for that I'd like to see some more features:
-single table mixerless mode, like Flare, but with pitch control.
-better library functionality
-less graphics, more touch surface
-iPad peripheral for 4 channel output (har har, just kidding... But maybe not!!!)

I consider the price to be an investment in the developer, and I will be happy I paid it if he keeps this beauty updating.
Great work!!!
Netholden,
Disappointed (Wants refund please)
I gotta say, I tried this app and didn't really have too high expectations. Just wanted to do some mixing and scratching was all. I tried to upload my own songs to use with this app (it does not let you use your ipad's library, instead you need to upload them first to a separate website) but every time I uploaded them, it would only play about 3 seconds of the song, and it would just repeat over and over. Talk about either an extremely glitchy bug or just flat out false advertising. I even installed it several times to see if it would work! Not only does this application deserve 1 star, I even want my money back!

Thank you for reading.

UPDATE: I have NOT recieved ANY notice of a refund at all, or any email even referring to it. Do not buy this app, it's still broken!
DJ DAMAC,
Great app
First and foremost great app best dj app ever. As a dj this is a very good app steep price but worth it . Of course it doesn't have everything hopefully there's a update that will add those things such as.
1.cue points
2.a better fader that actually fades in and out
3.time scale or something that let's you know where your at on the record for beat juggling.
But overall from a djing on real tables to this it's great I take my iPad to work and do my mixes and scratching for my co-workers pure fun thanks.
Alexmaryrocha,
Very good
Very nice, easy to use. No lag what so ever, nice to mix and scratch. You can also upload your own music. The only downfall that I would want to get fix on next update is....to organize the music in folders and not have every song in just one list... I want to organize it like under house music, hip hop, etc.. And to have a search for song or artist box...then it will get 5 stars
Saigonkidz,
Upload problem
This app is really nice but kind of expensive. The one problem that I notice right away is the upload problem. They give you a link to upload that is broken. Until this problem is fix, this app is not worth the $24 . Maybe not even 2$. I have a feeling I made a mistake.
Lionking1972,
Not bad
Well to start I bought the app when it was on sale in the APP store, wasn't the $24 everyone else spent, much less, very lucky.. Would love if the fader could transform much better, and also If there is a way to develop a flare and crab scratch on the app too..I would pay extra for the feature, but would love it if the update is a free one..
