iPod/iPhone App Reviews,
Good, could be perfect
Would be perfect if the app could open GuitarPro / tab files. Please add!!!!! Let us choose the songs we want to learn. Thanks!
_fClef,
Scale degrees
Nice fun learning app. Can we get scale degrees as a Note Name selection? Would be helpful leading scales.
fender5803,
I like it - works ok ...
I am a novice to lower intermediate bass player (whatever that tells you) I need to play more. Am self taught.
I like this for the scales mostly so far.
It took me awhile to figure my way around and then I saw the "I" for info button which helped a lot. For sure I would recommend this to a beginner.

1) I do get crashes on occasion, not to many so not to annoyed yet. (Minus 1/2 a star)
2) Also I have trouble getting the "neck" lined up on my phone (iPhone4) as nicely as I'd like but it works fine.
3) It would be great if the view shifted as the notes moved to a different section of the neck ? (Minus 1/2 star)

All in all for $3 it is well worth it to me. I used it for awhile before I went for the Pro version. I wanted a couple things that were turned off to those needing to save a bit of money

Thanks for the app Tom
Best,
DT
Lighter now,
Not bad
Not a bad bass app for the price, but could definitely use some improvements. The main one: have the sound actually come from a bass guitar, not what sounds like a keyboard! This really mars the experience. Also, would be very handy for those learning bass to see the actual note displayed that's being played (i.e. E, A, D, C, etc). This could be distracting for some, so it should be a feature that can be turned on or off. Another great feature would be the ability to pick a key and have those notes constantly highlighted on the fretboard as long as that key was chosen. This would be extremely useful for someone learning the fretboard. With changes such as these, it would be a 5 star app!
Nellysauce,
Not for a newbie, but helps you strengthen your skills
Great to help a bass player who has some knowledge, increase their knowledge and skills.

One Problem: on the scales the system plays a scale with an Eb and when you play it back from the fretboard they call it a D#. So you get it "wrong" even though they are technically the same note. If you could fix that, I would go 5 stars.
Necromodeus666,
Bad as HELL!
Been playing bass for a very long time, and I really don't know about music, I play by ear! This thing will teach you all the notes. Scales, and even songs! The songs are pretty good ones, hard to believe when our world is into rap! (crap) No music needed for that, just a key board! This will teach you so much, can't wait, in no time i will no everything I need to know.... And then some! Learn to burn!!
Castellanochaos,
Bass Guitar Pro
As a beginning bass guitar player I love this app! It's been very helpful in between lessons and it's great to practice on when I don't have my bass with me. Only downfall I find is the rotating off the instrument when you turn your iPad/iPhone. Wish there was a way to lock the app so it wouldn't turn when playing! Otherwise I highly recommend this app! Well worth the $!!
Lisa7071,
Could be better...
This app is really helpful for any bass player who wants to learn some new bass lines to play (such as myself) but the bass on the screen sounds more like a piano and there are a lot of songs that could be added as well other than one popular song from a band. Get some more songs from those artists! (Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden :D)
MetalElf,
Good intentions...
The app is meant well, I think. However for almost all the songs within, it really isn't the bassline that we are being shown. It's a melody line or the guitar riff that is being played. As a bass player I was hoping for the actual basslines to be present. A little disappointed but hopefully in the future this will be fixed. Otherwise it's useless to me.
acrumly,
just ok
This program needs work, the lesson plan is on the right track but it only plays bits and pieces of these songs. I could see after mastering the first part of the song a graduation to the next part until the entire song is completed, and then a jam that plays the other instruments without the bass line. Now that would be worth 5-9 bucks. Tutorial needs some work too.
