Yet another Jim,
Interesting but lacking functionality
Using the sensor is interesting but there are problems with the last few updates and lots of missing functionality. The latest update was supposed to fix the exercise title at the top of the screen so that it changes when you switch exercises but it did not. Whatever the first exercise you do for a workout is what it will say until you end the workout. Very frustrating and I hope it gets fixed soon.
Finance76,
Needs A bit of work
It’s workable. Needs a bit more refinements to make the system easier to understand.
Indyfan2887,
Newest Update is Trash
The newest update causes the app to close anytime you select a lift from a planned workout. Needs to be fixed ASAP or the whole concept is bunk.

We're back on track now. Thanks for the quick fix.
Dirty McGrubby,
Update-2.4.1 update fixes problem!
Within 24 hours, Beast Technologies remedied the issues in 2.4.0. Works great and has a smooth new interface. Great job
N. Young,
Good idea but not useful in present form.
Firmware needs update as sensor is well established to be off. App not mobile friendly. Emailed them years ago about no real function on mobile devices. Reply was try a pc. Better alternatives.
Xstat,
Super buggy but great v1
This is not an easy concept to pull off. So it's off to a great start but it's got to keep improving. App has usability and stability issues. Hopefully funding keeps up so they can keep improving. Honestly with a few improvements I'd give it a four or five.
Me1212331,
KG and LB
You need an addition to the app so we can use KG or LB weights.

I havent got to use my sensor yet so i am going to rate it 3/5 stars.
Seba Sound 42,
Sleek Look but no depth - Disappointed
I bought the Beast sensor based on the commercial and after some back and forth with the customer service.

While the sensor works and the UI looks great the depth is really disappointing.

I was hoping this would replace my current workout log JEFITPRO.

The exercise database is really small and is not structured by muscle group.

Unless there will be an update I did wast 250EUR.
The Brewer Fam,
Frustratingly poorly done
If I could give it a half star I would.

App crashes losing data from an entire workout entirely too often.

Painful. Rushed to market. Poorly QA & QCd.
kwik,
Limping Beast Strength
Review of Beast Strength Sensor and App after my first workout.

- Cost - Beast Sensor $229.10 with shipping 12/2015

- Workout:
Squat - 6 Warmup Sets / 3 Work Sets

- iPhone App: v1.4.1 running on iPhone 6+ with Current IOS
App would lose connection to sensor (5 times during this workout plus App crashed 4 times). Live Monitor and Multiplayer mode not working in this Version

Thoughts while working out:
Sensor losing connection and app crashing made the workout frustrating.

No ability to review previous set from the app, would have to go into the web service to review work out.

- Web Portal

* Even though the iPhone app was set to Imperial the lifts through the web portal are in Kilo’s, also does Kilo’s really need to go out to 15 decimal points?
* Warmup Sets and Work Sets showed more reps then actually performed which required time to clean up the rep counts. Lifting the bar off the pins was recorded as a rep, moving back into position was another rep, moving back to the pins was another rep and placing the bar on the pins was another rep. My big issue with this is this how it’s going to record the reps then fine, but let me edit it from my phone after the set while I am resting and not have to waste more time when I get home to fix. When fixing this through the web portal is also very cumbersome. The edit function shows all the reps numerically, instead of breaking it up into the individual sets as shown in the graph, which then required jumping back and forth from the graph and over to edit. What slowed this down even more is that you can only delete (1) rep at a time. In my case 36 reps had to be deleted plus with the app crashing one work set did not look like it was recorded properly so I deleted this as well.

- Web Portal Graph

* Why do I want an average? I want to know how the individual lift, this should be an option and by default needs to be removed from the graph.

Overall this software and device are at a beta stage and not ready for prime time, quite a bit of work is still required to make this device quick and simple to use. Using this as an individual from my first experience was frustrating I couldn’t imagine a trainer using this with a group.
Having to use the Web Portal should be an option, I would prefer to be off the grid and having everything recorded to my iPhone. If the live function was working it would just be simpler to write this down into my log book while resting.

If you have a couple of hundred dollars and some patience and want to be on the fringe of tech and fitness then go for it.

I generally don’t review product’s but I will keep this review updated as revision and hopefully firmware updates are released.

I cringe at this idea of this device turning into a refrigerator magnate.
