New features + Improved stability and small bug fixes.

- 10 bit SDR on iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 Series. Available up to 4K 30 FPS.

- ProRes on iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Available up to 4K 60 FPS.

- Stitch Recorded Footage. Available in the main settings menu under the “File management” tab. The “Stitch Recorded Footage” option allows pausing/resuming the recording process and saving a final video in a single file. A single tap on the record button pauses/resumes the recording process. A long tap on the record button stops the recording process. NOTE: The “Stitch Recorded Footage” option is not available in 10 bit HDR

- Smart Exposure Mode. Available in the main settings menu under the “Camera controls” tab. Smart exposure mode allows controlling the exposure via a single control slider similar to the native camera app. Smart exposure mode produces cleaner results compared to the regular/default manual exposure control mode and helps to reduce the amount of noise/artifacts in shadow areas of the scene. NOTE: The individual controls for ISO and SS are not available in Smart Exposure Mode. The exposure can be adjusted by 8 stops (+/- 8) with the exposure slider.

- Improved Focus Peaking visibility in QHD and 4K resolutions.

- ATTENTION: We updated the File Management System for improved stability. If you experienced crashes in the gallery and/or if you have existing project folders, we strongly recommend copying all files to your computer, then deleting the app and doing a fresh install to ensure the most optimal performance.

This update comes with many new features and performance improvements!

New features:
- ProRAW format on iPhones 12 Pro Max and 12 Pro
- New menu to switch between video and photo modes eliminates accidental switch. Now, after tapping on the camera icon you will have to select the mode to switch or close the menu
- New aspect ratio guides and instant crop (video mode). The instant crop switcher is added to the aspect ratio guides sub-menu. When enabled, the video will be saved in the selected aspect ratio (1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 2.39:1, 2.76:1). Instant crop is available for HD/FHD (8-bit) at 24, 25, 30,48,50,60 FPS and QHD/4K (8-bit) at 24, 25, 30 FPS.
- New expanded mode for exposure and focus reticles. Tap and hold on exposure or focus reticle to switch to expanded reading mode. The expanded reticles mode will trigger average scene reading for both exposure and focus instead of the spot reading. Exposure and focus can be locked the same way by taping on reticles. To return to spot reading mode, tap and hold on the reticle.
- Zoom, Focus, and White Balance pull. Now you can set a transition timer between local preset points for Focus, Zoom, and White Balance. A new timer Icon is added above preset numbered icons that allow setting a transition timer from 0 up to 10 seconds. The timer for each of the Focus, Zoom, and White Balance settings can be set individually. Once the timer set, it will affect the transition time between set points for smooth and even pull action.
Quick Zoom. Now you can choose between digital zoom and zoom preview to trigger Quick Zoom from the camera UI, in addition, zoom power can be set from 1X up to 10X (controls are added to the main settings menu). The digital zoom (Zoom) option is available at all camera settings, and it will apply actual zoom to the camera. It is extremely helpful when setting up a white balance or exposure from a specific area of the frame, also to check/set the focus. Zoom preview (Preview) option will trigger preview zoom only, and will not affect actual camera zoom, so it can be used at any time during video recording to quickly check the focus. The preview option is not available at 10-bit HDR mode (on iPhones 12 Series) also in HD/FHD at 120, 240 FPS, and 4K at 48, 50, 60 FPS.
- Visual Analytics ”Auto” mode: When enabled, it will trigger Zebra Stripes when changing exposure manually and Focus Peaking, when changing focus manually. NOTE: Visual analytics are not available in 10-bit HDR mode, also in HD/FHD at 120, 240 FPS, and 4K at 48, 50, 60 FPS.
- Hide interface on touch. Additional option added to keep/hide shutter release button when hide interface is enabled.
- Camera orientation lock. Available in the main settings menu to lock the camera in a horizontal or vertical orientation.
- Main Settings Menu. New layout with three main categories: Camera controls, User interface, and File management for easier and quicker navigation.
- Global Presets Menu. Added bit depth information (8-bit or 10-bit HDR) to the info table. Now, you can load your presets even faster by double-tapping on your preset name. Rearrange your presets in the list: tap and hold on a preset name to enable the moving option, then drag your preset to a new location in the preset list to keep your favorite presets at the top.
-Gallery. Added camera Icon for a quick return to camera UI from all gallery folders and player screen. Batch file conversion is available for multiple selected files or complete project folders. Since 10-bit HDR mode and HD/FHD at 120, 240 FPS, plus 4K at 48, 50, 60 FPS save videos in native 16:9 aspect ratio when recorded with anamorphic settings, batch conversion becomes really useful when multiple files needed to be converted to proper 2.39:1 or 2.76:1 aspect ratios.

Improved stability.

Image stabilization bugs fixed: IS state preserved when switching camera settings. IS state can be saved into global preset.

Currently, anamorphic de-squeeze (and de-squeeze preview) is not supported at QHD/4K 48/50/60 FPS at 10-bit HDR on iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

------

Improved FPS stability 120/240 FPS at HD/FHD and 48/50/60 FPS at QHD/4K:
- To ensure the most stable FPS recording at 120/240 FPS at HD/FHD and 48/50/60 FPS at QHD/4K implemented a different video recording process. It also eliminates preview lag when “cinematic” image stabilization is enabled, similar to the native camera app.
Please note:

- 1.33X and 1.55X anamorphic de-squeeze preview available at selected settings, however, the video will be saved at native 16:9 aspect ratio. Video de-squeeze is available in the player window inside of the gallery.

Studio1059,
So close to perfect
Developer request included: Decided to give this a try following the pricing model change of Filmic Pro. I tied this and Moment. This is bay far superior in so many way and is incredible powerful however it is missing one key feature that I desperately need that is available even in the native IOS camera app - stereo sound. Would love to also see a setting that allows clean hdmi out to use this as a streaming camera like Filmic Pro can. Hoping the developer can add this and make it the perfect solution!!

iPhone 15 Pro Max problems
I used this app for the first time after acquiring the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I love the app and its functionality and plan on buying a beast cage when available. There are however some issues, I understand the 15 just launched recently and these issues may be being worked through already. Hopefully an update is coming soon. Here are the issues I’ve noticed in the week or so I have used the app: When leaving the app from photo mode with the 5x tele lens active, the app sometimes crashes upon relaunch. When using 5x tele lens with photo mode, then switching to video mode, the app crashes. Built in iPhone Macro mode does not function in this app. Pro res does not function in this app. There is no way to take 48mp photos. Needs Apple Watch remote functionality for camera mode. I’ll be happy to update my review to 4 stars once the iPhone 15 Pro Max issues are fixed and update to 5 stars if Apple Watch remote functionality is added.
KazMogi,
Take control of your media
I’ve been using this app for over a year now. The functionality and manual control this app offers is top notch. Being able to manually control your settings will set your photos and videos apart from everyone else who use their default camera app. The only problem I have with this app is that I can’t control the mic input volume when shooting video. The option is there but it’s grayed out. It’s totally possible it’s because I’m using an old iPhone XR. One of the best parts of this app is that there is no monthly subscription! Dear developers, I hope you can keep it this way. Filmic Pro used to be my go-to until they went the subscription route.
evangoodell,
Fantastic App, a few iPhone 14 Pro bugs
This app is just what I was looking for. Moving from primarily using the Moment app for travel videos and other iPhone videography projects to Beastcam is wonderful. It is both intuitive and full of options.

On the website it mentions there a few bugs being worked out since the release of the iPhone 14 + iOS 16, and there are a small few. Specifically I am unable to save a preset at 24fps when I am shooting at 4K, high bitrate, at 10-bit (not HDR). It instead says I have 30fps selected and saves the preset at 30.

If this and the other small bugs could get ironed out this app would be perfect.
Anvar121995,
Unlocks features that Apple removes.
So apparently Apple doesn’t allow 128gb model iPhones 14 Pros to film in 4K ProRes. This app lets you use that function that should have been unlocked in the first place. The price of the app is beyond worth it. Support is very helpful also! The only two things I’d recommend are, be able to export video directly to camera roll instead of having to do that from the gallery, like we can with photos. (Having two copies of large video on the phone takes up unnecessary space). A Timelapse feature would also be amazing! Overall A+ app! I use it for my videography business!
Sammie 987,
Great, professional software
I had been using the Mavis camera app- but it appears to have been abandoned by the developer and despite the excellent interface, I couldn’t tolerate some bugs that popped up with my iPhone 13 Pro.

I’ve got a Beastgrip and some accessories so I thought I’d give Beastcam a try. I love it! Never going back.

I haven’t had any crash issues reported by others. The one thing I noticed (and reported) is the audio input setting sometimes doesn’t automatically recognize an external mic plugged into the lightning port. I lost some shotgun mic sound on a shoot yesterday.
Animated Noise,
This app is great. I find the updates have improved it greatly since it first launched
I like everything about this app. I love the layout and user interface more than all the others (filmic, pro camera, Mavis, etc. ). I had issues when it first launched with frame rate dropping. While all phones are VFR, I feel that it is much more improved since I first used it. It is now my go to app for filming commercials and other video content. With the introduction to 10 bit video with the iPhone 12, I have done several tests and pre post production, this app delivers the best video quality. Kudos to Beastgrip.
OneCel,
Disappointed
I had been waiting over a year for this app to release. I have to say as a huge fan of Beastgrip products owning almost their entire inventory, I am extremely disappointed in this app. When you try and combine a still photo app with a video app you become a jack of all trades and a master of none. For what this app offers it brings nothing new to the table and falls short of what other apps offer at less money. For example, the Pro Camera app from Moment offers more features like an iPad and Watch version for a fraction of the cost. Beastgrip should have followed FiLMiC Pros philosophy and offered dedicated apps fo still photos and video and focused on bringing new pro features not more of the same at inflated pricing.
QA5150,
Amateur, non-intuitive, clumsy, but only $2
For $2, app is just OK. That’s the good news. The bad? There are only articles online to provide functionality help; a PDF inclusive of all settings is extremely lacking. My experience is with software QA and digital photography since the early days. I can normally pick up just about any cam and figure out functionality associated with “icons”. I’m lost with their custom made icons and verbiage, in addition to extremely small icons and labels.

Be aware you will be spending a lot of time just identifying menu links/items. It’s clear that QA professionals, fluent in digital photography, never assessed this app. But, then, it’s only $2.
alydhiends,
Good but...
The app has great features and all but it just needs a little improvement on one particular thing. It'd be great if the transition from landscape to portrait is seemless. Right now it's just ugly. It rotates the whole screen preview with ugly rotation transition. Only the labels should rotate regardless of the device Rotation Lock state. Do not rotate the whole camera preview, it's just not pleasing to look at. This might be a minor thing to some but it's the only reason why I don't like using the app. For this price, it looks like an oversight. Every little detail matters.
