smw1998,
Awesome, but still a couple bugs.
Believr has been such a breath of fresh air for me because I’m able to find people who have similar stories as me and befriend them! But, there are still a couple bugs that I am experiencing.
When originally filling out the profile info, my phone auto filled my full name, and I didn’t realize it until I had everything set up. I have tried to go back and edit my name so it shows what I want it to show, but every time I reopen the app it goes back to my full name. Please fix this!
Also, the pronouns options only show up in one order on a profile, and I use multiple, but I don’t necessarily prefer them in the order that they show up, e.g. using she/they and preferring she over they, but they/them occurs before she/her on the profile. Adding some type of prioritizing feature would be great.
Overall a wonderful app that has helped me make some friends!!
RebekahRoseWilson,
The best dating app to date (pun intended)
As someone who actively stays in the loop while using the beta version of this app, I can attest that the bug issues that were complained about previously had already been discussed within the long chain of text (which they also complained about) in order to fix them—I guess they didn’t read through it before complaining about it. They’re planning on turning that into many groups and chatrooms, anyway.. The issues have all been resolved and the app is already much better than any app I’ve used..and I’ve literally used (and paid for) them all. Like, 10 different apps. The app is designed to match you according to values and force you to actually get to know someone a bit before you decide they’re “not your type” and swipe left. Seeing a high percentage values match definitely makes you reconsider passing someone up so quickly just because they don’t have “the look” you think is so important. If you’re looking for something real with someone truly compatible, this is the app to use. Not having the most important values in common is the root of failed relationships—this is the only app that tackles that head-on. I could say so much more, but you should just check it out for yourself!

Too Few Matches
I’m very frustrated by the lack of distance filter. After paying for premium, I still only had a handful of matches on Sunday, only one of which was in my area. It’s strange to have the app be so stingy about matches. I click through my matches every week in about two minutes as I check the locations to see if anyone lives near me. I usually go back and look through the profiles more intentionally after that, but if I only have about seven to ten matches the odds that one is going to be intriguing enough for me to strike up a long distance relationship/friendship based on a few prompts is low. This app would be much better if it was just a standard dating app with regular filters and some form of looking through profiles and liking them with the difference being that it is just for LGBTQ Christians. Getting assigned a few random people who live all over the country based on “values” (sometimes with only a couple of those in common) once a week is not a feature. It’s frustrating because we really need a way to connect with other queer Christians and this app has potential to be that but it wastes all of its potential on the weird matching system.
SydneyLu1234,
A really good app with no distance filter
If you’re lgbtqa+ and a Christian, then this app is a good option for finding friendship and/or finding a romantic partner. It’s community based and has zoom meetups once a week. The only downside is that there’s no distance filter. So if you’re like myself and you don’t want to date someone across the country, this app is not for you. However, if that doesn’t bother you, then definitely give this app a try! At the very least, it’s a great way to make lgbtqa+ Christian friends.
Solebarac,
Almost unusable
I love the idea and heart behind this, but this app has major problems and has since launch. The bugs are incessant, and the worst I’ve ever experienced in an app. Half the time I open the app it crashes, I relaunch it and it goes into building a new profile and new account even though I have both set up. I have to force close the app and reopen to get my account to come back and sometimes it just won’t cooperate.

I have the latest iOS on iPhone 13 but the app can be very slow, even on WiFi, to load content.

My liked communities disappear every other click. I rarely, if ever, receive a notification when I receive a message, even though I’ve allowed them.

Also I have paid for premium and still have only found one person in my state. Not an app problem as much as a marketing one, but it does make it exceptionally difficult to engage with.

This is a preference thing but I wish there was a “tap” or “swipe” option so I don’t have to write an opening message to someone before I know they are at least interested.

I wish I had more positive things to say, but the truth is this is executed very poorly. I will absolutely keep the app to see where it goes and I’m rooting for you guys.
Doug Sewell,
Bugs - or annoyances?
I work in IT, so I have expectations on how software responds. I can’t tell if it’s bugs, or not properly disclosed, that of you choose “answer later” on some questions, it will later come back and ask you again, trashing your other answers in the process. I didn’t want it to know my location or approve notifications yet, but it kept coming back to those until I answered it “correctly.” They weren’t clear you can only answer one way to be accepted. I also think the monthly price is a little high, but given I can’t get my account created without giving them everything, I think I will wait.
blindadventurer98,
Accessibility for blind and low vision users
When the app was in development I was told that the app would be accessible to all including those who are disabled especially those who are blind or low vision. I am extremely disappointed because the app is not accessible with the voiceover screen reader on iOS products. Especially in regards to adding photos to the profile and editing the birth date. As someone who has been trying all the other apps out there for dating I find it very upsetting and disappointing that other relationship apps do not boast of being accessible but they are highly accessible and this one is not even to I was specifically given the assurance of it being so.
Matthew the Therapist,
Good concept; more for younger audiences
I was hopeful to find a place where I could open up and let both my spiritual side as well as be more about about being bi. I would hardly fault this app for this, but there seems to be a lack of 40+ on here. And there’s not really a great way to connect with this group. I found it to be lackluster and overwhelming at the same time. Also the bugs of profile filling were frustrating. Leaving now, but wish you the best.
luliaknight86,
Great app not available on all handheld devices
I first installed this app on my iPhone 7+. Then I thought, I use my tablet just as much as my phone so download it there. Found out my device is not compatible with the app programming. My tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 6. Not top of the line, but still fairly new.
RebelHeart311,
Let Down
I was so excited for this app. As a Trans Christian, my identity is constantly fought against and I’m subjected to questions like “What’s your real name?” Which is exactly what happens when you try to register here. This is gender dysphoria inducing and other sites such as Twitter do not do this.
I would love to come back when your lawyers figure out how to do this like other social media platforms and not harm Trans people trying to find community.
Dysphoria is so unbelievably painful and scary. I don’t think you intend to induce that, but the impact you are having does.
