Big Sonic Heaven is a 24/7 Internet radio station hosted by Darren Revell. The station is dedicated to the ethereal and lush sounds of shoegaze, dream-pop and post-punk with a splash of trip-hop, darkwave, synth pop, britpop, etc. New and classic artists are featured regularly. Big Sonic Heaven started in Detroit in ‘95 as a specialty radio show on Planet 96.3. After an 8 1/2 year run in Detroit, Indie 103-1 Los Angeles was the next stop. In 2013 Big Sonic Heaven became a podcast, blog, and now a full-time Internet radio station. Add it all up to celebrate 25 years! Take a listen and welcome to Big Sonic Heaven!

All time favorite radio program!
I used to stay up late on Sundays every week to listen to this super chill music...I still have my little scraps of paper from my nightstand where I would scribble down the names of songs and bands that played. I love this app and being able to hear old and new! I also really like the live programs with DJ Darren Revell. It’s great to hear him reminisce about his days in Detroit/Windsor. Come on back to town Darren, Detroit is better than ever!

Dream come true
I listened to big sonic heaven when it aired on indie 103.1 in Los Angeles. I was super sad when the station folded in 2009 and haven’t gotten over it. So it has been the most delightful surprise to have found my favorite music show on its own little app. The loves feature is everything as there is no need to write down song titles anymore. All the stars for this app. Thank you so much 🥹

This is the best app & station ever created!
Big Sonic Heaven & Darren Revell are responsible for my entire music library! For the past 30 years (since I was 18!!!) he has given us the most amazing music to listen to. I cannot get enough of this music. Practically every song has a great memory from back in the day on the radio, clubs & Sugar Hiccup! Please keep this going!!!

Great streaming service.
Granted, it’s bare bones in terms of features but the songs played are exceptional. I’ve been listening for 3 months and I don’t think I’ve heard a song be repeated. No commercials makes this awesome. I like that they have a “favorites/bookmark songs” feature. I wish they can buffer the streaming more so that those of us who have less than perfect cell reception can have less interruptions.

Breath-taking, nostalgic, mesmerizing, captivating, and ethereal music.
If you miss the 80’s and/or just enjoy beautiful music that takes you in the moment and transcends you to different realms of reflection, melancholy, and exhilaration, then this is it. I cannot imagine myself listening to any other app or platform. Closest to perfection with selection of music. At least my POV.

You’re Everyday Soundscape
During the absence of weekly broadcasts of Big Sonic Heaven, I had been throwing music into an iTunes playlist that I would constantly have shuffling. This app not makes that playlist obsolete. Plus!, every once in a while, Darren comes in to introduce a track. So great to hear his voice again. Welcome back!

An absolute dream come true!
Big Sonic Heaven was my favorite show growing up in metro Detroit and have been missing it since it went off the air. Now it’s not only back, but it’s on all the time? Radio (on whatever medium) doesn’t get any better than that! Thank you, Darren Revell!!!

Long overdue app ....
Like so many others have already commented, this station/channel/app BLOWS away everything else out there. Was in my mid 30’s when we discovered it in the Detroit area 25 years ago. Now I’m re-living those years and discovering even more amazing music today. Don’t EVER go away!

So excited about this app...
I used to listen to Big Sonic Heaven back when it aired in Detroit on Sunday nights and loved it. It my Sunday night ritual. I even created my own playlist that I titled Big Sonic Heaven and as much as I enjoy the playlist it is not the same as the Big Sonic Heaven show. This app helps fill that void. Thank you...

Best Radio Show Ever!
I discovered BSH sometime around ‘98-‘99 back when 96.3 was “The Planet,” which had a unique “mixed-alternative “ format at that time. Much to my chagrin, 96.3 switched to a pop-Top 40 format a few years later, then BSH fell casualty. It is so awesome to be able to hear it once again on a regular basis.
