This game is truly delightful. Because players are shown, by way of feedback, before each shot, the ball’s trajectory as that shot is currently limed up, playing comes easily & with a sense of great possibilities. Of course, the ball’s trajectory is only one of a great many variables that go into whether a shot is successful, so it’s some helpful positive feedback but just enough to provide a little guidance without being obtrusive or annoying in any way.
This means that lining up almost every shot feels very promising, if only its potential is examined carefully enough before finally taking that shot. It’s difficult to articulate how this translates into feeling really engaged with the game, rather than just being a trigger for action that might correspond with the intended results but just as well might have totally unexpected consequences. It feels like actually playing the game &, over time, becoming better at it, rather than just interacting with it without having a good sense of what might well happen. It has just the right amount of predictability. The upshot is that the game is great fun, not stressful, & never boring; it’s always going to be changing enough to offer new challenges as players’ skills levels improve, with enough different table lay-outs to always be offering something different. It’s a great game!
