Proteus846,
Crashes on Game Over
As far as simple time-wasters go, Bix is actually really fun. It’s a great way to pass time and trying to get further than before.

However, this game is in major need of an update. While a visual overhaul would breathe new life into this game and make it feel like it isn’t stuck in iPhone OS 2 (where I first got it in the first few months after the App Store was first available) my current issue is that the game does not run well with iOS 11.

With iOS 11, Bix crashes when you lose your last life. This means you cannot see your end score (unless you check it right before you get hit, which may be why you got hit at all) and you cannot contribute to your personal leaderboard. It also abruptly changes to a new level when you win, which can make it seem like you got hit until you realize you have a new color scheme that denotes a new level.

Overall I still really like this game. It’s simple, addicting, and keeps bringing me back! I just wish the crashes would be fixed, and a design overhaul would be awesome to bring the game up to current-day app expectations. (The ability to make custom levels would be fun too, as well as multiple varieties of game modes or difficulty settings)
iShubes,
Jezzball…not Qix
If you're looking for a game similar to Qix (the old arcade game by Taito that was eventually ported to GameBoy), you'll have to keep looking. This isn't it. I thought it was, but discovered right away that this is much more akin to the old Windows 3.1 game, Jezzball. Fun in its own right, yes; but don't let the name fool you. There aren't multiple speeds on this game (remember, you would score higher in Qix if you filled in space using the slower speed, but it was riskier); there's only one speed. As you level up, the number of randomly floating balls increases…again, just like Jezzball. You can sometimes "trap" them, but more often, when you box in one of the floating balls, it reappears in another part of the screen. The game is really simple, but so much like Jezzball—and so UNLIKE Qix—that I lost interest after just a couple days. It's not "un-fun"; just not what I was looking for. Loved playing Qix on my GameBoy, and this isn't a replacement, sadly. 👎🏼

UPDATE: While the app runs smoothly on iOS 15, the controls are in definite need of help. They’re either non-responsive or hyper-responsive. I’ve lost a life by “death-spiraling” (remember that in the old Qix game?) into my own path in the few days I’ve played this on iOS15 than I ever did. Additionally, the game gets very NON-responsive at times, refusing to move when you swipe to move. This also results in loss of a life and makes this app quite frustrating. I’ll keep looking for something better…
Main Source,
Addicting
Bix is a fun game that may be perfect for OCD people like me who love the clean geometry of a game of straight lines. My only quibble is the number of glitches that stop the game from working because after a freeze. No explanation, no way to escape, no continuation, a freeze that requires a force quit and start over. Otherwise....very addicting and fun.
granberry's music,
Worked fine before last apple update
Since last update by apple, when the player is to move from one level to the next, it jumps too soon....without completing the last levels info. This happened on my ipad and now a few days later on my iPhone. Now i have deleted the app on my ipad...and when I activated again, i was asked to pay for ad-free again. Before all of this I would have given 4 stars, no very unhappy so only 3. Good game really, i used to play the old coin op QIX version. FYI I HAVE DELETED BOTH THIS ONE AND THE CHALLENGE ONE! Apparently you have not been able to fix the problem in over a month now and it is not enjoyable anymore. I deleted once already and when I tried to reinstall I was being charged again. it was a fun game, but it has been ruined. What is the problem?
Thesweetfamily,
Good game but crashes
Like others, I loved Qiz and this is close (but not as good). Still a lot of fun as a time waster. Biggest problem is when I am coming in parallel to an existing line and try to turn into it and I am just one pixel away, it hangs and you have to restart from beginning. Happens almost every series of games. Gotten to point where I have to jog out and back but then I get hit. And the fact that you have to start over is a little annoying too. Otherwise, solid 3 stars.
MSotherdenArtGlass,
Love the idea... But...
I loved Qix as a kid on gameboy. This is similar- I LOVE the game, but I hate that you always have to start at level 1. One of the things I love about Angry Birds and other games on IPhone is when you can keep starting at a level that defeats you. Especially in this fast paced world where I often have 5 minutes to play a round of Clash of Clans or Angry Birds... But I don't have 20 minutes to keep spending 3/4 of that time beating levels I can ALWAYS beat. Can you guys change this?
Noonespecial123,
So addictive!
It took me a couple of minutes to understand how it worked, then once I did I was totally hooked! I just wish you had the option to start on an level you've beaten instead of always restarting at level 1. Even so this has been my favorite game since I found it!
Cheachy,
Please fix/update as could be much better
Simple fun game premise along the lines of old game boy game.
However, it’s frustratingly glitchy and freezes and crashes.
I’ve had so many times where I’ve had a great game going and going to set a new personal best and it freezes and game has to be restarted to play at which point you are back to level 1.
I’ve miraculously made it to level 53 once, but typically I don’t get that far before it freezes.
PixyStix1,
An all time iPhone favorite
I have been playing this on my phone for what I bet had been 10 years. I agree with the comments that I wish you could start past level 1.

Thanks for all the fun over the years.
dreweastmead,
Great game but crashes
Really fun app and game. However as of mid 2018 it is now crashing just about every time I play and get past level 12-15. Frustrating.

When it isn’t crashing, this game is Good for killing time. Reminds me of the old Qix game in GameBoy so big nostalgia points!

Suggestion: let people start on level 10 or 20. The first 10 levels aren’t challenging at all.
