The doctor will see you – anywhere, anytime! With BlueCare, a telemedicine service of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, you can see a doctor online 24/7, without having to take time off from work or school.
The BlueCare App lets you:
• See doctors from your phone or tablet when you need to – no appointments required
• Save time and money by skipping trips to the ER or urgent care
• Easily get help for non-emergency illnesses like sinus infections, minor stomach trouble, allergies, rashes, bladder infections or the common cold
• Get a prescription or ask questions about your medication
• Choose from a list of BlueCare doctors who are online
• Save information from your member ID card on your first visit, so you can automatically log in to see a doctor

BlueCare is powered by American Well, which provides telemedicine services for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and its subsidiaries.

Please note that telehealth is not for emergencies. If you’re having a medical emergency, call 911.

If you use Apple Health, you can choose to share your health information with the provider during your virtual video visit, such as heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, blood glucose levels, weight, nutritional information and respiratory rate.

Long wait, great results
This was my first time using Blue Care. My son has been sick for the last 3 weeks with the Flu, Croup Virus, and now Strep Throat. I started a low-grade fever today with some fatigue. I am full time student and single mom, so I do not want to get sick. I was hoping to get something to prevent further illness. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do. I got bounced around from doctors on Blue Care who said I needed to see a pediatrician; I’m sure they just read about my son and not me, I’m 22. So after entering my information several times, I was finally connected to someone.
Overall, the app and the doctors seem to be well within guidelines and it is much more convenient to use Blue Care than to physically go see a doctor. It was just irritating having to wait on several doctors to be seen. However, I would 100% recommended Blue Care. Dr on Demand is a great resource as well, but they don’t take my insurance.

Surprisingly Awesome
Since this is fairly new, at least to me it is, I assumed there would be glitches, take a long time, and more of a headache than just going to the Dr. My son just had his first online visit and it went surprisingly awesome! The Dr. was great, there were no glitches, and it took no time at all. It took 35-40 mins from start to finish. This includes the time it took me to download the app, enter all of my information and my two son’s information, start the online check-in, talk to the Dr. and receive the school excuse and prescription. I don’t foresee myself sitting in a waiting any time soon.

Crazy easy!
With just a few minutes of setting up your profile with your medical info, you are ready to go! The doc comes on video typically within 5 minutes or less every time I’ve used it. They are nice and casual but still extremely professional. If you have medical questions or need a prescription that doesn’t require an in person exam, these guys have you covered! The visit with the doc is FAST. Even with a bit of chit chat you are done in less than five minutes. This service is AWESOME!

Waited 7 hours and still haven’t gotten through
I started waiting on a doctor at 3 pm and was kicked out 4 times and had to wait in line behind everyone again each time. It is now almost 10 pm and I have given up. The last time it kicked me i had only 4 people ahead of me and it said the doctor was no longer available but when I went back in he was there and available. Then there was 11 people ahead of me. This is ridiculous. There has to be a better way. There’s no way to make an appointment even though there is an appointment tab. They make you leave your phone number then don’t call you. There were several instances where I had a certain number of people in front of me the somehow the number increased by one. What the ever loving beheezus did I waste my whole day on this for?????

Healthcare 2019!
It was super easy, once I turned my phone off and back on. The video portal would not load at first. So my hubby suggested I turn off my phone and turn it back on, and that worked, the video portal loaded..... and the doctor I picked, arrived like a Jeannie, popping out of the bottle to grant my three wishes. Dam I love that App!

I’m so thankful I could avoid the waiting room at urgent care and I’m also so very thankful that I don’t have to panic about getting a doctor’s appt Monday morning. It is nice to start the healing process before the work week.

A no-brainer when the crud starts going around
When you wake up with a sore throat, a fever, and an infectious cough, the last thing you want to do is haul yourself over to urgent care or your doctor’s office where they test you for every illness they can and hold you hostage with paperwork and long waits. This is a fantastic alternative! It’s quick, easy, inexpensive, and bears the same result without the misery of being in public (well, until you go pick up your prescription, but that’s what the drive-through is for!).

No Long Wait
I work from home and leave for a trip today and had no time to go to the doctor for a stye that had bothered me for a few days. The wait was maybe 5 minutes and my “visit” was less than 10 minutes. Quick, easy, and affordable! I was able to do this is my home, go right back to work afterwards, and will be able to pick up a prescription on my way out of town.

Easy and Efficient
This app made it very easy to be seen by a physician to address a nagging cold I could t get rid of! The app is easy to navigate, not over complicated and only took a few minutes to connect to a doctor. The doctor was very friendly and got straight to the point of asking questions to diagnosing. I will use this service again when I need to and I highly recommend the app.

Wow! Excellent experience
I was skeptical about this, but it was a really easy “visit”. At 9:45pm I decided I should see a doctor tomorrow. Then I remembered this app. I set up an account, entered my complaint/symptoms, and a doctor was on the video chat in no time. It’s now 9:57 and I’m done with the visit and have a prescription being sent to my pharmacy. I will definitely be using this again for any minor medical needs!!

Be careful of BlueCare
Back 2018 it was great! Could see a doctor in no time. Now in 2020, it is the worst service I have seen. Don’t waste your money. First you wait longer and second they are afraid to prescribe real medicine. If you have a simple sinus infection (not a virus) they will not prescribe antibiotics at all. You have to go to two visits or double pay or after you become even sicker before they help you with needed meds. I left the video and the doctor who’s hands were tied to help me and went to urgent care down the street like I use to do before this service. Very disappointed how something was so good has become so bad.
