Current version auto-selects store based on UI language
I’ve used this app to purchase light novels and manga in Japanese for years. It used to be possible to select the Japanese language store even with the UI set to US English. However as of current version, the app automatically switches between Global and Japanese-language stores based on the device UI language. As far as I can tell, there is no way to set the language within the app (the language selection on login only affected the login/account pages)
Fortunately my existing purchases are still accessible within the app, and it’s fairly quick to switch iOS UI language nowadays so I can still purchase books in Japanese with some extra steps. But it does get me worried about future access. I hope this isn’t a precursor to dropping access to Japanese language ebooks for those of us living outside of Japan.

Inconvenient to get Japanese Version
Before, you were able buy the Japanese version of mangas and books in the app, but now they’ve made it complex. If you want the Japanese version in the app, you will need to change your device language setting to Japanese. Otherwise, you will need to use a browser and go to the Japanese store for Bookwalker. I don’t know why they made it more inconvenient to purchase the Japanese version. Could it not just be a simple option in app to default to a certain version of the store?
Previously, I would overlook the poor UI, slow load times, and crashes because this app allowed easy purchases of the Japanese versions, but now I would not recommend it. Until they bring back the ease of purchasing the Japanese version in app, I will just buy physical copies or look somewhere else. It’s strange how they would make it harder for people to buy their products…
Some good things is that it has a large category of mangas/books to buy. They also give you previews (like the first couple of page) so you can get an idea if it will be something you’d like. I don’t really get the bookshelf part of the app because it is easier to just view your library and organize it by series, title, or author. Reading is easy, plus you can zoom (useful if there is small text or using smaller devices). Searching and bookmarking is simple too.

Great selection, but needs stability improvements
I absolutely love the selection of LNs and manga available, having almost 300 books in my account at time of writing, but there is one problem preventing me from giving it a five-star rating. That is, the app crashes constantly when trying to open, and I sometimes spend minutes fruitlessly trying to open it and restarting my phone to get it to work. If the crash issue were resolved, I’d be willing to amend my rating to 5*.

Downloading and Reading is Tedious
Bookwalker is an amazing service to keep all my manga together. Building bookshelves is great.
However, it is extremely troublesome to download new chapters and volumes to add to those bookshelves. Can’t download in the background. I have to keep the app open while it downloads and those downloads take an eternity. I would like it to auto-download content but there are no settings to control that function.
If I haven’t downloaded a chapter or volume, then I have to wait for an unending loading bar that takes forever regardless of wifi or hotspot connection to read. The website is faster. Extremely faster.
The swipe bar is ALWAYS present! ALWAYS. This is so abnoxious and frustrating.
I would simply love it if I could queue up the downloads and not be restrained to the app, able to use my ipad as I please while they download.
I would love it even more if the swipe bar went away when reading.
I would love it even more if my bookshelves synced across devices.
But without these things I feel bogged down trying to read what I bought and am discouraged from buying more because of how much it becomes a chore to manage.

-They send you free coins occasionally to redeem stuff, usually its around 300 coins and can get 2-3 chapters of a manga with that!
-Easy to keep track of what I read and what I haven't read

-It didn't let me change my debit card no matter what I tried, it kept trying to use my old, expired debit card (If this happens to you, use PayPal instead)
-You can't pay in the app! Please correct me if I am wrong, but you can not purchase anything in the app itself, I suggest adding stuff to your wishlist and then purchasing it through google!

Nice platform, but app experience needs improving
I really like BookWalker as I can integrate and view my purchased items from all its three sites (Taiwan, global, and Japan) in one single app. The app itself, however, definitely needs a lot of improving. Typography is really badly designed. I hope the app could support more fonts and allow for more reading options such as line spacing. I understand it is common to read a Japanese book that is vertically aligned, but since Japanese do read horizontally aligned books, I wish the app could support horizontal alignment as well.

I love the selection of light novels but The app occasionally crashes or fails to open properly on occasion.
It’s a bit weird that in order to purchase anything you have to go the website instead of directly using the app.
They should add a sort by publication date in the library.
I use both my phone and iPad to read and have to create my bookshelves twice so far. There needs to be a away room sync the bookshelves.

I use both my phone and iPad to read and have to create my bookshelves twice so far. There needs to be a away room sync the bookshelves.

Removed language selection
I've used Bookwalker for years to read manga and novels in Japanese but the most recent update automatically puts me on the global store rather than the Japanese one and doesn't allow for switching (or at least I couldn't find a way to switch). Please allow users to change between the Japanese and global store like we were before. 5 stars otherwise, but now to access the Japanese store I have to switch my OS to Japanese, which isn't really an issue but it's frustrating to have to do and time consuming.

Love and Support the App but could be optimized significantly
Gotta hand it to manga and LNs for rocking, and Kadokawa (book walker) for being a real part of that. This app works but is not intuitive. I think it has real potential if sufficient attention is paid. Getting bookshelf skins for your franchise is great fun tho. Hope to see more development of this!

Crashes!!!
Bookwalker app is decent; however, sometimes when i try to read through a light novel the app will suddenly crash and once i reopen the app, the bookwalker logo would appear for a few min until the app crashes. This process would happen everytime i reopen the app. Restarting my phone would sometime fix this issue, but the problem still occur even after restarting my phone for 50% of the time. Overall the app is decent. I would give bookwalker a higher rating, if only the crashes wouldn’t happen so often.
