Bookclubs: Book Club Organizer Hack 2.7.8 + Redeem Codes

Our neighborhood book club switched from Book Movement to Book Clubs at the end of last year, and we are really enjoying the enhanced experience. We love the design and capabilities of the feature-rich app and website, including the ability to upload photos from past meetings, upload documents (like recipes from holiday parties), send private messages, rate books, and create polls (like helping to choose between two books). I was able to easily upload our list of ten years of prior books via an Excel file. Reminders and notifications are always sent timely, and I generally receive helpful responses to the questions and issues I’ve shared with the Book Clubs team. There are just a few unaddressed items that I previously shared which would make our experience even better -

We need to add a notification with next month’s book choice. This should be automatically sent on the day following the current month’s meeting (e.g., send notice of March’s book selection the day after February’s meeting). Book Clubs is set up so that notices are sent when a meeting is created or updated, unless you turn off that notice. Since we often select our books months in advance, we need a reminder of what book was selected before each meeting.
The meeting reminder emails should include the hosts’ names, and not just their physical addresses.
Regardless, I highly recommend this app (and website) to manage your book club!

This platform and app has proved so useful and convenient for our book club’s needs. It is user friendly and has several functions we use frequently from polls to message boards to the currently reading and books we’ve read lists. Notifications come in clutch when polls are posted or important messages. The site offers suggestions and a way to branch into other book clubs if you don’t have your own and the database of book discussion guides is ever growing. The creators are responsive to feedback or issues and treat you like a valued customer. They’re also always working to improve the entire platform. Our book club is coming up on our one year anniversary and we love this app!

I have been using this app for a couple of months now and I like it for the most part. I wish there was a comments or discussion section for members to post in the meeting invites. It would be helpful to have that for members to post what they are bringing or anything they wish to communicate to the group for that particular meeting. Also for some reason when I add an address to the meetings, it never posts it the first time around and I have to come back and edit the meeting to add it again. It’s a small thing and likely user error, but it has happened twice. If we could save addresses or if it populated the location I am typing in it would be nice. Lastly, I think it could be a little more intuitive. Perhaps opening to a Home/Welcome Screen? I am not sure how to articulate what I mean. Just a place for the user to start visually with like your next event and book recommendations based on previous meetings and ratings. It doesn’t feel intuitive to me that it opens up to meetings, which is in the middle of the options as opposed to the left. If it were a home button that stood out, maybe. I will continue to use the app. It seems like the makers are frequently putting out updates and read the reviews for constructive criticism. I hope this helps!

I had the pleasure of beta testing this app when it first started and am such a fan of its functionality. It’s incredibly easy to use, links you to purchase the books your club is reading, sends notifications and reminders. Easy to communicate with the whole group without having a mass text message. Plus aesthetically, in my personal opinion, it’s the nicest looking app out there. I’ve never had it crash on me or anything like that. If you’re in the market for a book club app this is definitely the one.

So my book club uses this app. There are many features I like, but this most recent update has no way of marking messages as read without clicking on them. So I have around 200 unread notifications. I’m not about to go back and read all these notifications (that I’m sure I’ve already seen) just to get this number to go away. Any chance you can add a mark all as seen button? Or something similar? It’s really frustrating seeing this on my phone screen now. As far as the rest of the app, the polling and messaging are great. The addition of direct messages has been nice though my group doesn’t use that much.

Let me start with the highlights ofthe great concepts in this app...easy to navigate and search for titles, easy to invite new members, RSVP, create polls, and keep track of past reading selections. But i find it inconsistent in communicating information. You input your address and contact info and select “share with club members” and then it only conveys your phone number and email, even if you’re hosting the meeting. Why not automatically show your address so you don’t have to retype it each time? Why isn’t it easier to populate the poll from the book recommendation list? Why, when I ask for notifications from the group do I persistently see “no notifications” but I have 20 missed messages from the group 🤷🏻‍♀️

The app offers great tools but can benefit from some flexibility. Like allowing a meeting to be set and a title written for the meeting even if the Book is not searchable in the app database.

Providing links or guides to running a book club, or guide questions to books in meeting / want to read queue, or a board where Bookclubz members can share practices or questions, would be an invauable resource.

And a feature where members can share within the club or in their profile their favorite books per genre separate from the books they post in the club “want to read” list.

I’ve only been playing with this a day or so, I think I like the set up on the webpage better so far. I know the app has only been out a few months so I’m sure updates are coming. I agree that there needs to be a spoiler alert option, the ability to take a picture of a page and highlight a quote and also the ability to reply to individual messages on the club message wall. I read there will be a video conference option in the future super excited about that.

Love this app! Easy very easy to set up clubs. Love the simple fresh look. Had been using a different app for almost 10 years that was free but it decided to start charging $30 a year. I appreciate that Bookclubz offer you to contribute through Patreon - which I definitely plan to do. Love love this well put together easy way to organize my 3 Bookclubz. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

One wish: an option for members to receive text message reminders. Many people just don’t check their emails these days. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I like all of the features but one feature from another book club app that I miss is the book discussion questions. When you select a book that other groups have read, you can see how other folks using the app have rated that book and discussion questions they had for it. The other app didn't all the other features this one has though.
I think adding the book discussion qs would make this the best book club app I have used.
