Description

Boxville is 2-in-1: an animated film and a puzzle game.

Boxville is an adventure puzzle game about speechless cans living in the city of boxes and drawing doodles on cardboards to tell the stories.
Boxville is good for playing alone to dive into the atmosphere and challenge your brain with sophisticated logic puzzles and riddles, or playing with a friend or family to share unique audio-visual experiences and solve the puzzles together.

Design
The core idea of the game is that it’s not just a game - but also an animated film that you can watch and play at the same time.
We designed Boxville’s gameplay with the purpose of taking away your anxiety and stress. You can explore and observe the world without rushing and pressure.
The game is full of environmental quests and logical puzzles that we have carefully picked from among hundreds of options.

Story
Boxville is a city of boxes populated with old cans. They live quiet and happy lives with their everyday routines and habits. But one day, unexplained earthquakes disturbed their idyll...
Blue Can (our hero) lost his best friend because of that. He started his search but it is not so easy to move through the city after earthquakes. He has to find a way to move forward, return the friend back home and discover the real reason for all those earthquakes. There are many adventures, new friends and it’s not only friends that are waiting for him on the way.
He has to be curious, inventive, careful, and to help others, to reach his goal.

What you can expect to see and hear in Boxville:
- Hand-drawn graphics — all backgrounds and characters are carefully drawn by our artists.
- Every animation and sound is created especially for each interaction.
- Unique music track was created for every scene to accomplish the atmosphere of the game.
- Tens of logical puzzles and mini-games are tightly incorporated into the story of the game.
- There are no words in the game — all characters communicate via cartoony speechbubbles.

Delightful
I only wish this game could’ve gone on longer. It’s my favorite game in a couple years, and I can’t wait to see what this developer does next. This game is really reminiscent of the Amanita Design games, if you like that style. The art is fantastic and puzzles are great. I was determined not to cheat and look at a walk-through, and I didn’t. I made it all the way through. Some of the puzzles are very challenging. But they are all logical, and you will not be aggravated with any of them when you discover the solutions, unlike some games. I hope to see more!

Hard to see under my finger
The graphics for inventory items are so small I can’t see them under my finger as I drag them onto the scene to use. It’s very hard to see when the item activates this way. It would be much easier to see if I could use a stylus (like my Apple Pencil) instead of my finger. I’m on an iPad 11 Pro. That said, I love the artwork, the story, the soundtrack, and the puzzles so far.

Edit: I found an old rubber tip stylus and solved my fat finger problem. This game is delightful. I hope you are safe, and I hope you make more
ch'askoid,
Great game, but easy to lose progress
I love being a little can on a mission, and for the most part enjoy the lack of words. But after stepping away and losing progress on a couple of puzzles because the autosave wasn’t keeping up, I wanted to save the game manually. I followed symbols for what looked like saving, but instead accidentally deleted my progress up to that point. Save people the frustration and provide rudimentary labels in the settings please! I was far enough in that I don’t want to start over.
ally555,
Worth the play!
Ok, agreed. It’s on the shorter side (compared to maybe a Glitch game). But there’s a lot of beauty and fun packed into this game. The characters are darling. The storyline is simple…each character tells you what happened to them through comic-style art. And like true adventure point-n-click gaming…it’s our job to help! There aren’t many games out there like this. Especially games without violence and occult themes.
So if you like this style of game, imho it’s important to support these kinds of clever developers.

And the price? Yes it’s worth it. A cup of coffee or movie ticket costs 2-3x this price. And the amount of work that goes into these games is priceless.

Devs: the inventory tray…and thus each item…is quite small. So if you make another game, descriptions of the inventory items would be helpful. :)
Carson lujan,
Wonderful game but with a minor issue. At least to me.
I purchased this game not too long ago as I am one who very much enjoys puzzle games. Especially ones like these where it’s visually pleasing. It very much reminds me of Machinarium.

The main inconvenience I am experiencing however is whenever I touch the screen, regardless on where, the home bar appears. Then eventually fades away. This occurs constantly and won’t stop no matter what I do. With it appearing and disappearing all the time is constantly off putting that it ruins the experience for me.
Blichty,
Pretty great so far
I almost gave up on the very first screen. But I stuck with it after the first interaction and it’s been great since. There is def some walking back and forth and some items are hard to see/interact on my iPhone 14 pro max (I just zoomed in when needed) but the puzzles are clever and just hard enough and the art is drawn in that grungy-yet-cute-steampunk-style ala Machinarium. Love it.

Won’t sync between devices
I really enjoy this game. I find is difficult to play on iPhone given the small screen. I downloaded to my iPad and it started again at the beginning. Using same Game Center id and am recognized. Game Center setting on 2nd device has a record log of my progress on my first device, but game doesn’t open at that point.

I’m not sure if the app itself does not permit this, but I don’t have the same issue with other Game Center games. Very frustrating.

Cute Game
This game was really cute and fun. There are no words or speaking in the game, only pictures which can be a little confusing to interpret. I had some difficulty understanding the settings and accidentally restarted the game. The graphics are outstanding and the gameplay was smooth. Overall, I really enjoyed it. Just wish it was a bit longer.
Makobrady,
Amazing game but very short…
What a great game! Has a little bit of a machinarium look and play to it. It was pretty challenging but not too hard..
My only complaint was that it was short.. it was definitely worth playing but I wish there was more because it was that good!
Definitely recommend!

Delightful
Gorgeous art and well designed puzzles. There was one moment where I got stuck because I didn’t understand the interface to a puzzle, but probably most people will figure it out through persistence. Very happy to spend 3-4 hours in this delightful miniature world, well done developers!
