Description

Bronco (2021 – Present Model Year)

SYNC 4® with CarPlay® iOS 15 and up

Planning

· Search curated trails in U.S., Canada, and Mexico from FunTreks.

· Filter by location, difficulty rating, length, description, and reviews.

· Maps include satellite imagery, 2D topography and points of interest. Even add your own points of interest.

· View and download content rich maps and trail details for view in your in-vehicle touchscreen – so your off-roading maps are always available, even if your cellular coverage isn’t.

Navigating

· Trail content, satellite imagery and hi-res topo maps are projected via CarPlay into the 8” or 12” display of your Bronco.

· Use the built-in mount on your Bronco’s dashboard to attach your smart phone and Record video as you go –vehicle telemetry is overlaid automatically during playback and includes speed, RPM, distance, elevation and more data.

· Mobile tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) - monitor real-time tire pressure data directly on your phone. Set targeted tire pressure and see updates in one second increments – easing the process of changing tire pressure before/after an off-road drive.

Sharing

· Enhance the post-drive experience - Post your drive summary to social media directly from the app.

· Access and edit recorded drives with a variety of tools to personalize the drive - add detailed descriptions, waypoints, photos, and tags. Then save that detail for review the next time you take your Bronco out to the same area.

Bachabot,
Applink Connection Error
Has potential….or so I read. I cant even get it to connect through sync. I keep getting ‘Error: Applink connection not detected’. I follow the limited instructions and just get caught in a loop between sync and CarPlay. I open it in one and then it tells me to open it in the other. I tried restarting my iPhone and turning off the Bronco many times and in different order but still no luck. Getting ready to remove it from my phone and waiting until it actually functions.

*updated- I received a response from Ford and it now functions. I haven’t had time to really check out the functions but was kinda surprised to see that the Silver Lake sand dunes off road park was not listed. I realize that it isn’t exactly a trail system but I still was expecting to see it. Hopefully since it’s a brand new app more content will be forthcoming. Looking forward to that.

This has Potential But….
This app has great potential…..BUT I can’t get it to connect through sync. I keep getting 'Error: Applink connection not detected'. I follow the limited instructions and just get caught in a loop between sync and CarPlay. I open it in one and then it tells me to open it in the other. I tried restarting my iPhone and turning off the Bronco many times and in different order but still no luck. I have checked the permissions in settings on both the phone and vehicle with no luck. I must be missing something. It’s just not straight forward with not enough info in help windows.
Jarheadiscool,
Not great
There are many class VI roads and trails in NH and Maine but only 4 on the map. The trans NH trail would be a great one. The logging in and out of Ford pass is annoying. It doesn’t save my profile pic or nickname. Getting nit picky there. But after 12 attempts I got it to work with my Bronco. I really hope the bugs get fixed. I know its a work in process. My second Bronco just shipped with Sas so after a 2 year wait for the truck I guess I can wait a little longer for the app

New and hopeful
I was happy to see this app was finally out. I live in western Colorado and just looked at the trails near me so far. On my iPhone it shows details once you tap on a trail; “Recommended Time Jan-Dec” on all the trails I’ve looked at. Once you tap again for more info and read “Trail Description” it does give you accurate time of year to visit for each trail. Not sure why the “Recommended Time” doesn’t show this accurate info but perhaps it will get updated soon. Looking forward to exploring more with my Bronco and utilizing this app!

Full of bugs (but also full of promise)
I’d give it one star, except for the fact that the things it COULD do are amazing! After restarting my phone and car multiple times, it almost worked — but not quite. Recording causes instant crashes, or records only a couple of frames of data. I’m surprised the Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail is not included, as well as several other trails which Gaia shows — perhaps Ford will add them later, but for now, this seems to be a “hopefully eventually integrated” app, whereas Gaia is fully functional. If you need it know, use Gaia — but hopefully someday Ford will get this working well! ☺️

Improved
Maps are downloading without difficulty now, and integration with Apple CarPlay proceeded to work. This will be powerful tool in the middle of nowhere. I’m looking forward to using out west soon. I seems a bit ridiculous that one must sign in to the app from time to time. If you’re away from cell service and you happen to be signed out, then the app would be rendered useless.

Almost there - has potential!
Not having the crashes or initial setup issues some folks are having, but once those are solved for everyone, this app needs Face ID support and/or some way to avoid having to log into the app when connected to CarPlay in the Bronco. Also, OHV areas ought to at least be points of interest on the map, even if they're not curated trails.

Good idea but needs work.
It is nice having trail information and the ability to sync with your devices.
It was difficult to get it working at first the directions to setup for the vehicle should be the first thing you are presented with. Having to log into the app every time you want to use it makes it clumsy. Adding weather updates and emergency contact information to the system would add a ton of usefulness.

Road Closed Ahead
I downloaded this app after taking delivery of my 2023 Sasquatch package bronco base, I verify my email only to be welcomed to a message stating “Looks like your vehicle model is not supported at this time. We are adding more models and will message you when your vehicle is supported.” Kind of a bummer i cant even see what the features of the app are because the vehicle the app was developed for is not supported on the app.
Trooper71,
Really liking it
It’s not 4+ years old, and there are minor issues, but it works, it works well and don’t have any issues using the app with the vehicle. Good job and can’t wait to see what else is added!
