Don’t buy a Bryton, the app is bad and customer service is bad
The app looks nice, and the sound alert is when a car approaches is loud and helpful. The radar is not perfect, as it rarely detects multiple cars - it almost always only sees one if there is a group of two or three. It also only plays the “all clear” chime maybe 30% of the time (although the screen image shows green, so it’s not that big of a deal).
The #1 downside, and why I’m returning my Bryton Gardia is because the app does not have an option to disable iPhone’s auto-lock feature. For those of us with security dictated by our employer, there is no universal disable, but apps can override that, meaning they could have programmed it in to be able to keep the phone awake while it’s on. In other words, the phone screen shuts off after 2 minutes and becomes useless.
No shot am I spending ANOTHER $100+ on a Bryton computer when the product itself isn’t even great to begin with, so frankly I’d rather just pony up the money for a Garmin. Sometimes cheaper really isn’t better.
Lastly, I know this is a seat mount unit, but I have a rack that won’t allow a seat mount - and they do not make an adapter for a horizontal bar mount. I tried contacting service through their website chat to see if they had any options, and 5 days later zero response. I had to rig something up.
(As an aside, the brake light part works great. The radar function works “barely ok”, or at least good enough that I would be happy keeping it if the app worked, but the app is useless as long as it won’t disable auto-lock).
