Description

Many apps record caffeine, but most never learn about you and your habits. What if your caffeine tracker were smarter?

• One-tap logging of your most-frequent sources
• Logging via voice with Siri shortcuts
• Smart reminders to keep you on track
• New insights into your caffeine routine with charts and detailed stats
• Integration with HealthKit, for secure data storage

RECaf was designed and built to take advantage of all the latest and greatest features available to you on your phone. And the best part—you can try it for 14 days, risk free, with an auto-renewing annual subscription thereafter.

More features include:

• Completely customizable source list. Add any sources you like and adjust the caffeine levels, measurement units, and icons.
• Easy-access to your most frequent sources. RECaf automatically brings the caffeine you use most often to your fingertips
• Shortcuts for any source—from the source list, choose any source, record a unique audio phrase, and then log that source with your voice.
• A favorites panel grants easy access to those sources you like but don't log as often.
• Interactive notifications with machine learning — RECaf will study your caffeine intake over time and learn what time (if any) you tend to log on a particular day. So if you usually have coffee at 10am on Mondays, skip Tuesdays, then have green tea at 7am on Wednesdays, RECaf will send you quick reminders only on the appropriate days and at the appropriate times, if it notices you haven't yet logged your "usual." Adjust the time of the log right in the notification, and log with a tap.
• Statistics about your caffeine intake.
• Number of items logged today
• Number of mg of caffeine logged today
• Average items and mg over the past 7 days
• Average items and mg over the last 30 days
• Number of items logged in the past week past your designated "after hours" time
• Breakdown of logging percentages by time of day (morning, afternoon, evening)
• The last item logged and percentage of entries
• The most frequent item logged and percentage of entries
• Your typical "routine" for each day of the week. (Time and source)
• Sleep analysis: How does caffeine effect your sleep?
• A comprehensive list of all items logged in your HealthKit database. (Even those not logged with RECaf.)
• The ability to edit your entry dates and amounts. Or delete entries that may have been logged erroneously.

Download and try RECaf today. A yearly subscription to our 12-month premium features will automatically renew 24 hours prior to expiration of your free trial. To turn off auto-renew, visit subscription settings inside the Settings app on your device.

Annual Premium subscription features include:

• Recording caffeine log entries right within RECaf
• Customizing the source list, including editing or removing existing items and adding new ones
• Reminders when you may have missed a log
• Quick access to the most frequently used sources

This is a big update, which should fix some bugs and also add some great new features.

• Today Widget: Place a widget right on your home screen, with three sizes available, giving you up-to-date information about your logging for the day. How many items you've consumed, how much total caffeine you've had, and how long it's been since your last caffeine intake.
• Entirely new Watch experience. The watch app has been rewritten from the ground up, to be more reliable and more powerful than ever. Also, it should work more independently when your phone is not around.
• Lots of bug fixes and improvements to take advantage of the latest operating system features.

Thanks to everyone who reported issues and helped make RECaf better. If you would like to leave a review, that is always appreciated.

2020.1
2020-09-07
This is a big one. I wanted to revamp some of the underlying ways the app converts data, so that it could be far more reliable, and open up more possibilities in the future. Meanwhile, I didn't forget about the new features.

• Sleep analysis. If you are tracking your sleep with your phone or watch (using any app that stores sleep data in HealthKit) RECaf can now present you with some interesting analysis about how your caffeine intake affects your sleep. Do you sleep less when you've had more caffeine? Does it take longer for you to fall asleep when you have caffeine late in the day? Does it matter if you have caffeine later in the day vs. the morning?
• Hydration logging. Coffee and tea are mostly water, right? So why not log a water intake entry while logging your morning caffeine? For all entries that are measured in ml or fl oz, you now have the option to log a water entry automatically while you are logging your caffeine into HealthKit. Save yourself that trip to the water logging app. (Note: Shot-based drinks, doses, and mass measurements, such as your coffee ice cream, will not log water entries.)
• Reorder and quickly remove favorites. Now, right from the main tab, you can reorder or delete favorite sources.
• Improved communication between watch and phone.
• Many, many bug fixes and small usability improvements.
• Increased speed and reliability of data analysis.

Note: This version utilizes a new format for shortcuts. If you have been logging via your voice, you will need to set up new shortcuts. (The app will remind you, if you have older-formatted shortcuts on your phone.)
2019.15
2019-11-03
Log Custom and Favorite entries from your wrist! This update adds the ability to log items that aren't in your most frequent entries list on your watch. Just swipe left on the watch interface, and choose the item and amount you want to log.

Also, your phone will now remember the state of your log entry tab. So if you tend to log from favorites, for instance, the app will open up with the favorites pane up and ready to go.

Bug fixes:

• Addressed issues with preferences being overwritten to defaults for a small number of users since iOS 13. Hopefully, your settings will now stay put.
• The elapsed time since your last entry was not being calculated correctly in all instances on the watch.
• Fixed a crash for some customers with older watch models launching from complications or from the app page.
• Fixed a typo on the app settings page.
• Fixed dark mode issues with date pickers.

If you enjoy using RECaf, there's more great new features to come. A review or rating is always appreciated, if you have a moment. Thanks.
2019.14
2019-09-30
This update addresses a few major issues from the last few releases:

• Fixed issue for some users where the watch app wasn't able to get subscription status, frequent data, or other information from the phone. (I had tried changing some of the ways the watch gathered its information in order to make it more independent from the phone app, but that clearly wasn't working for some people.)
• Addressed a rare issue where for some customers, sources are mysteriously disappearing. (This one is very difficult to pin down - I am hoping this will end the problem once and for all. Please let me know if you are still experiencing problems with sources going missing. As a reminder, you can always bring back any of the default sources that disappear by going to More > Source List, and tapping on more sources at the bottom of the screen.)

Thanks, and as always, if you are enjoying RECaf, a rating or review is appreciated.
2019.13

If you enjoy using RECaf, a review or rating is always appreciated. Thanks.
2019.12
2019-09-19
RECaf is going to be celebrating its first birthday soon. A few big updates coming in the next few months, starting with this one.

• Detail views for history statistics. Tap on history cells (such as Today, Last Source, 1st Log Routine, etc. and get a much more detailed view, with charts and analysis of your caffeine intake. Now you can see how your 1st log routine for any given day is calculated, see how all your sources stack up over time as a percentage of your overall caffeine intake, see a chart of your last thirty days of logging, and much more. And we're just getting started. (Sleep analysis will be coming soon!)
• New dark appearance that matches your system setting.
• Improved shortcut setup: All your shortcuts are now in one place, available from the top right of the menubar on the main screen.
• Generic shortcuts available in the Shortcuts app: You can now set up a RECaf shortcut in the Shortcuts app that asks for the item or amount you wish to log. So, you can say "Log Caffeine" and then choose a source and size.

Improvements:

• Improved communication and calculation throughout the app. Should feel generally snappier.
• Improved independence between phone and watch. You should now have fewer issues when logging on your wrist when your phone is not around.
• Many, many bug fixes and improvements. Typos, miscalculations, etc. squashed. Thanks to those who continue to report issues.

If you are enjoying RECaf, a rating or review is appreciated. There are a lot of new and exciting features planned for the near future. Thanks.

RLNfirst,
Unique outstanding Design app!
I would like to Sit down and take a second, or moment of your time. I Thank the Developer for creating such a unique system Software that Helps you myself and our family. The Developer has put a great deal of hard work and love into the making of this app! How do you know look at the number of updates that has been made to make it better for you myself and our family. Yes the app cost money, but today’s Technology is not free it’s expensive! I have always found something you want to keep that is special and use every day cost. I use this app every day it’s special and it helps my Health greatly as it will for you and your family. I hope if you read this you will download this app and give it a try. Well Time for me to move on so they say but I truly truly want to Thank the Developer for such a great unique 5 Star app so Mr Developer Thanks I Tip my Hat to you!!🎩
JessStarGazer,
LOVE RECaf app!
RECaf is great for people who are caffeine sensitive or just want to know how caffeine might be impacting their health. Using RECaf brings awareness of how much caffeine I’m drinking/eating (chocolate!) every day. Before using this app I took in more caffeine than I’d imagined. Seeing the amount of caffeine, ex 50 mg, made made me realize that having over a certain amount per day contributes to sleep problems. So now I can track my caffeine making sure I drink 50 mg or less to sleep well. Or, if I’m ok with staying up a little later than usual I can have another latte.
madmoviewatcher,
Like the app but need help when it won’t log the full mg content in its entirety
When I first downloaded this app i really enjoyed it because I was able to track my caffeine intake throughout the day. The problem is that sometimes instead of recording the amount of caffeine in it’s entirety it only does record like 0.8 or lower of caffeine for each drink I input. In order to fix this I have to erase all my drinks and reinput them all and then it’s fixed. Don’t know why it’s doing this but need help desperately
bhansmeyer,
Effortless
I love how the Watch app asks me if I’ve forgotten to log my coffee in the morning (I usually have), and with one tap, it’s done! RECaf takes all the work out of building a new caffeine tracking habit with its clever reminders and simple choices (with the ability to customize further if needed). If you’re serious about tracking your caffeine intake, it’s definitely worth the low yearly price (and there’s a free trial as well).
infinitely curious,
Great concept, rocky execution
Between the Home Screen Widget, the app’s History list, and the app’s Today screen I just saw 3 different values. Only one set was accurate. This eventual consistency is something I’ve been waiting a full OS release on before commenting to ensure any benefits or bug fixes solved it outside RECaf. This would be an easy 4 or 5 stars if it the data was 100% reliable and consistent at all times. There’s no watch usage in the mix, I do use a shortcut action to do the logging.

(Months later this continues to fail and be unreliable, canceled subscription since it doesn’t meet my needs)
Viktor_withaK,
Just what I’ve been waiting for!
What a terrific app! If you’re interested in tracking your caffeine intake, this is undoubtedly the app to get. Logging something is very fast and easy to do, and I love that the developers even implemented an Apple Watch app and home screen quick actions (with 3D Touch) to make the process even easier. Very impressive design for such a new app.
Macgenie,
Easiest tracking app I’ve ever used
This app is very intuitive to use. I’m usually leery of apps that offer to track my habits. The time it takes to actually log something is usually not worth it. This app can log your coffee using a simple shortcut with Siri. Plus RECaf learns my habits and reminds me to log my coffee if I’ve forgotten.
PapaG7,
Not worth it
The app itself is designed well but the fact that you can't actually use it unless you pay, which they don't make clear in the description, is deceptive and sleazy. It's not even freemium, you have consent to being charged after 14 days when you sign up for the trial. $4.99 is a little steep for the simple ability to record cups of coffee. If you want to log your caffeine intake, you're better off logging it in the notes on your phone or in a spreadsheet.
Hays.Donald,
Graphs? Strategies?
I think for a subscription app, you need to be providing some analysis and strategies to 1) maximize caffeine intake during the work day 2) avoid over caffeinating 3) know when to stop to avoid interfering with sleep.

I do not want an app that’s just going to reinforce my own caffeine intake patterns. There is no way of knowing if this patterns are actually useful! Why reinforce that??

The app is well-designed and elegant looking. But I expected more useful features that are strategy and scientifically driven.
Mark Nosrati,
Requires cc authorization for free trial
The app requires you to agree you will pay for their membership that starts automatically after the 2 week trial. No thanks! You don’t need access to my credit card. You can just disable you app after 2 weeks. Bad policy from the start. Not even going to waste my time chasing you for a reimbursement. Change your policy. It’s not that hard for you to disable the app and let people actually try it without people giving you access to their bank.
