The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a federally-funded health and nutrition program.
WIC provides families with:
- Information about nutrition and a healthy lifestyle to support you and your family
- Support and information about breastfeeding your baby
- Help in finding health care and other valuable community services
- Healthy foods from WIC approved grocery stores such as fruits and vegetables, whole grains, milk, eggs, bread, cereal, juice, peanut butter, soy milk, tofu and much more.
Participants must meet income guidelines and be:
- A pregnant woman
- A woman breastfeeding a baby under 1 year of age
- A woman who had a baby in the past 6 months
- Have an infant(s) up to their first birthday
- Have a child(ren) up to their fifth birthday
In California, 83 WIC agencies provide services locally to about 1.16 million participants each month at over 600 sites throughout the state. In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, WIC is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.
The California WIC App will give WIC participants the opportunity to view upcoming appointments, view food benefits that have been issued to them in the clinic, scan UPCs while shopping at the store to see if the UPC is a WIC Approved item or not, and provide information on locations of WIC Stores and WIC Clinics across the State of California. The goal of the California WIC App is to give participants all the information they need at their fingertips to make their shopping experience fun and easy.

Cannot register because birthdate format not accepted
It’s the most frustrating experience to register on the app. We registered on website and it was smooth. But while registering on app it was never ending. It is still not working. After entering all the information at the register page, the ERROR message will keep popping that ERROR - Enter birthdate in mm/dd/yyyy format. While clicking on that tab it automatically opens the default iPhone app selection of day, month and year. Even after selection of the correct date it just keeps popping the ERROR message. There is nothing a user can do. It’s an app flaw. Cannot register and cannot use it. Useless app!

Very convenient!
This app is AMAZING! I have had to get WIC the good ol’ fashioned way and use WIC checks and walk around with their booklet trying to figure out what items I can and can’t get, if the price was ok for the voucher amount, and have to get everything that’s listed on one check even if you don’t need all of those particular items at this time.
I cannot explain how great full I was this time around when I got a card and an APP it makes it much simpler and more importantly you don’t have to be humiliated like before when you held up the line with your WIC check because something always seemed to be wrong.

It has been such a huge help to have Wic one day soon I hope to start working and get myself on my feet but now with two kids this is such a blessing to be able to count on this income monthly! We are (me husband and kids) are forever grateful for this amazing service to the community. Your love and passion is amazing. Login Issues
I downloaded the app when it first rolled out and had no real issues besides slow loading, but it was really helpful being able to see my remaining food balance. After initially setting up my account I never had to re-sign in until about a month ago. The app had logged me out and wasn’t accepting the password I had thought I’d used. So I went to “Forgot my password” but it only tells me that I need to enter a valid email address even though I entered it already. So that was a dead end. Now my card has been having issues in store and I can’t use the app to figure out the problem and my WIC office is closed. Wish they would fix this problem in the app because it seems lots of people are having the same issue with no fixes or updates.

The app is super easy to use and so well put together. It lets you know when your benefits will expire and renew. There’s also a section that allows you to see which exact products you can get with your benefits for if you’re ever shopping at WIC approved markets and need a little help. The app also lets you know when you have an upcoming WIC appointment. Truly has helped me out so much!

At a crossroad...
I download the wic at when it first came out. It’s great! Easy to use. You can see everything. Couple of weeks pass by and I forgot what items I needed to buy before it expires. I login and it didn’t log me in. It didn’t save my login information. I forgot my password so I did the “forgot password” deal. I did the following and it wouldn’t let me change it. I called the wic office they said they couldn’t help so they told me to call the number on the back of my card. Called the number. No option for customer service. Apparently, wic offices are closed so I’ve been waiting for a while. Please please PLEASE update the app so it can me logged in.

Login is taking a long time
So I just recently updated the app and suddenly I just couldn’t log in anymore like I kept on waiting but it just doesn’t log me in to the account. I’ve tried closing the app multiple times and refreshing my phone as well as deleting the app and downloading it again, it would keep on telling me that the session has expired and please try again after that it takes me out of the app. It’s a little frustrating not to know the balance and I was solely depending on that app for my appointments and the location and contacts. Please fix the app. Thank you.

Keeps kicking out
This app really needs to be fixed! What a disappointment! I downloaded and registered my account things seemed fine for 3 months of using the app and then it stoped allowing me to login, kicking me out before the app can even open. So after 6 months of not using the app I tried to log back in and still has the same issues. This app was such a useful tool and time saver but now it never works. I even tried registering again and it just kicks me out. Please fix these issues.

Loading takes forever
I always struggle getting from the navigation to my food balance and then if I click on something on my food balance for more info it’s another long wait to get back to my food balance menu yet again. When I am grocery shopping this is very inconvenient. As of recent the app will not load at all and now I am blind shopping which is just fabulous. Hope they get this updated. Just glad I have the option to view my balance instead of looking at checks so I’m trying to be grateful here.

So many bugs
It’s a shame that this app has so many bugs. I am constantly encouraged to use the WIC app but it’s not even usable!
I tried to register after downloading the app and the part to enter the cardholders birthday is not working. It only lets you select January, February, March, or April as the birthday. If you select any other month it jumps back to April. That’s ridiculous. How hard is it to make an app that functions appropriately? Forget how useful it may or may not be, I can’t even register to use the app!
Also, the last update is listed as more than a year ago. CDHP should consider updating this app with bug fixes more frequently.
