The app is a vital tool for all citizens to know their rights in the United States. The app is clean and easy to navigate just like V1 which is perfect. Unfortunately, there are some things that need a little TLC.
One is that some of the information is locked and only available when you sign up. This is not a deal breaker as I am a supporter of the work and information provided by WTPU. The issue I had was when I went to sign up, my network detected that the encryption was weak and immediately blocked the URL/IP from receiving my registration. You can bypass it but that immediately raises concerns for me.
Second is the hyperlinks under Traffic Laws by State do not take you anywhere. You can see the vehicle code associated with a particular violation but it would be nice to see the exact wording of the code as some law enforcement agencies may present a violation of the vehicle code they are reciting/ticketing incorrectly (accidentally or intentionally), or may try to deny, discredit or ignore your knowledge of the vehicle code. Always remember don’t argue the right or wrong with the officer, save the respectful fight for the judge.
Lastly is the video recording feature found under the menu options (top right). I was able to give the permissions to my camera and mic as I expected but when I tapped “Cancel” (bottom left), nothing happened. I had to force close the app and reopen it to get back to the main menu.
TL;DR
This app is a good resource despite the bugs I found. Everyone should have this app to know their rights in all 50 states. I think I will hang on to V1 just a bit longer and hope that the devs can fix V2 so it can be just as good or better than the previous app.
