Maybe they need some AI to fix the AI.
The app worked fine for a few days as soon as I paid for the subscription, it stop working properly. It captions words whole phrases out of order. Skips phrases and then puts them back somewhere else in the sequence. It prematurely beeped out the cuss words so you would hear a beep and then a couple of ticks later the cuss word would come through.
Trying to edit the words that the AI gets wrong is cumbersome. I emailed the company I got a notice that they would get back to me the next day I got no response I tried other caption apps they had no problem, capturing the words in the right places. I even went to my video editing, software and chopped up the video and spread them out with spaces to give the app more time to put the words in the proper places and still have the same problems. I love the way the software’s karaoke feature looks but it’s costing me more time then, it should. I’m hoping it’s something that could be fixed because it was a lot of fun for a couple of days.

Changes
I originally felt this app was a strong 4 stars out of 5 but I just went to edit something I’ve been working on for a while and noticed some changes. Basically the ability to see segments of text in that page sort of format has been done away with(?). It makes the playback laggy now. Scrolling through the words has a strong stick to them so that’s also clunky. It also feels like it messes with the timing of the audio as well.
Overall, it’s a change that has impacted productivity and workflow. Before it was more satisfying. I’ve made mockups for the apps PixelCut, PicsArt, Eraser, Remini, PixelCut, Canva and Vont, for changes I thought would be beneficial. Every app fell behind except for PicsArt and InShot… the only two who made my mockups real features. And simply due to the positive feedback from those features, they actually pass my emails up the chain and make such changes. I don’t get paid from them. I simply love editing and they make that experience satisfying.
I believe you guys are in your own lane, but have sharpened the technological tools when it comes to AI. Please.. revert back to the previous layout, or perhaps even make it an optional feature. Because I’m sure it may be beneficial for some and you guys likely put in a lot of effort to make such a small change. I’ll continue editing to push through the change, so if anything comes up that changes my mind, I’ll update my review.

For me, it doesn’t work

This app does not work for me. I’ve SEEN that it works for others, but for me it didn’t. I’ve had clips where it didn’t pick up my voice at all (and there was NO OPTION to add captions to that clip manually), I’ve had times where it completely switches captions from one clip to another, and I’ve had a clip straight up corrupt and not play (the captions for that clip was still there, but no other remnant of it was. I couldn’t play it, and it simply flickered the first frame of my next clip.) I thought it wasn’t picking up some of my words because I talk fast, which is fine. But the fact that I can’t add captions, even statically to one clip, is beyond me. I can’t rectify this apps errors. I ended up not using the videos I made with this app because I had so many problems with it. If it picks up your words well, you likely will have no problem with this app. There were few inaccuracies in the words it DID pick up, it just didn’t pick up most of my words. Frustrated and hopeful that you guys can figure this out, because I love this app idea and just wish it worked for me. Definitely willing to come back and try again once you think you’ve fixed the problem.

Great overall especially if you have auditory processing issues!!!
I myself have auditory processing issues and so for the longest time couldn't caption my own Tiktoks which made me feel like crap. I want my content to be as accessible as possible and for the longest time couldn't. This however is an amazing app and I couldn't recommend it more.
I did a video using it and asked some of my friends to review it to make sure the captions weren't going too fast and the general consensus was this is a good app! While it does lag a little it follows your words really good. This surprised me honestly because I do talk a little fast but it picked up pretty well. Also its almost 100% accurate! I only had to correct a couple of words.
Editing captions is a bit of a pain if I'm honest because it gets a little slow and laggy when typing but overall pretty good.
If I could recommend any changes its less lag when fixing captions and maybe a way to make sure the words match up 100% when speaking.
Otherwise I love this app and I've already begun to recommend it to everyone I know!

The AI gets it right 80-90% of the time. Which is great, you’d expect it to allow a human to come in and fix that extra 10-20%. Unfortunately the app does not allow that.
Human control over word placement is a nightmare in this app and is it’s greatest weakness. It does not let you drag individual words to where they need to be alto the second. The “timing” feature only allows for timing of blocks of words, and gives zero control over where to put individual words within a block of words.
So inevitably when the AI mistimes a word, or puts dead space on a whole sentence, there’s no way for you to reliably fill in that dead space with well-timed words. It just auto-aligns your new edit and messes up your words. When this happens, you’re better off making that section invisible, or using a different app to fill in that space.

Way too much going on.
Honestly, subtitles are enough. I don’t need to re-align everything to make it not keep going every which way all over the screen having to edit each individual word to get it to stay there till the next word is said. Like… just no. This is why subtitle apps don’t do as well as they could. Keep it simple. I already spend enough time editing my videos. I don’t need to spend another 3 hours editing the subtitles to make them bearable to watch. That’s just insanity.

Not worth it, so many bugs
I tried to edit my 1 minute video tutorial and the app crashed when I added text or an emoji or picture in the background. I had to redo the same video edit 3 times and all three times my video crashed and only the audio played but no video was showing, couldn’t even download the video due to it crashing. So many bugs are on this and and it’s ridiculous to charge that that amount every month when they app is not in the best condition. I understand every app has bugs and needs fixes but I went right over to the app “InShot” after and I was able to edit my video seamlessly on the “free” version and use another app to add captions and it only took me 5 minutes.
Also, the way that AI automatically placed captions from the audio was very off. It took me hours to align the captions, I was practically doing Captions’ job better at manually aligning the captions. The AI music choice was not good at all took me many times to find a decent music choice.
This app has potential and it would’ve been a really cool video had it not crashed everytime and been misaligned.

Frequent updates with disruptive changes
I’ve used this app for months for auto-captioning lyrics on music videos, which it has done with remarkable clarity and their AI algorithm has been the most accurate by far of anything I’ve tried. Accurately auto-captioning sung lyrics in the mix with music is an admittedly remarkable feat that they’ve done well for a while, only needing slight transcript adjustments.
However, they’ve also done some massive interface changing updates during that time which has made the process of manually adjusting incorrectly detected words harder and harder, giving less and less flexibility in adding word sections and allowing for timing. With this latest update, all customizability of words and timings seems to be gone, and as a major bummer, the auto-detecting is picking up nothing, when previously it was doing mostly okay.
It’s worked well for a while but unfortunately right now I’m spending $10 a month to manually enter captions with less flexibility than I have in my editing software. Can’t see myself keeping this much longer.

Needs many improvements
I like that the captions are auto generated, and they’re about 80% accurate. But I hate that I can’t resize them or move them anywhere besides screen left. Sometimes the captions cover up graphics that I place on videos. The new scrolling feature gives more control over which segment of the video you’re on, so you don’t have to wait for the entire thing to play over, but every now and then while I’m editing a mistake, it will send me all the way to the start of the video so I have to scroll back to where I was. Really annoying. I’m editing some captions right now and the app placed the word “know” on there twice one with a period like so: “know know.” I only need one know and I don’t need a period, but everytime I delete one of them, the other has a period. When I delete the period, it shows up on the other know. When I delete both words, and hit done, THEY BOTH MAGICALLY APPEAR AGAIN. Extremely annoying.

Was okay, but now is unusable
This app was decent when it was free. There were some major problems with it, such as when you download the video the captions move to the left like an entire inch (which was relatively simple to combat, just put it in the super wrong place when in-app and check after you download to see if it’s in the right place). But now, they decided to make the app cost $8 A MONTH (which is an insane price for any app, but especially one that doesn’t work very well). I don’t know anyone who would pay that much for any app, especially one that’s sole purpose is to caption videos. If it was a one-time cost, I would consider it, but this app honestly still isn’t even worth $8 just once. I’m extremely disappointed that this app costs money now, especially since there are still some major issues with it that make using it for work far more difficult than would be ideal. At least fix your app before you charge people an insane amount of money to use it.
