Miss Lei,
BEST EVER!
HOLY **** this app is unbefriginlieveable. Seriously excited about using this for school. I’m in dental school and this is the one thing all graduates have said to use is flash cards. I didn’t want to waste all the money buying a gajillion cards and keeping them all organized. So I decided to just try the free version out. I really found it useful and thought it would be best to just buy the app as it would STILL be cheaper than buying 100 cards for $3 x 5 semesters left in school= a ****ton more than $10. Plus I can incorporate images onto the cards which is MASSIVELY helpful when discussing anatomical structures and whatnot. THANK YOU!

PS. I had a small heart attack when I went from free to the full version. It’d be great if there was an intro message stating that if you used the free version that there is a way to transfer those cards to the full with a short how to board. Just a suggestion to make sure no one else almost poops themselves like I almost did. Thanks!
CRNewton,
Amazing, some missing features.
This app does a lot of things really well, I highly recommend it. I would, however, like to see the ability to merge two boards together. I use the app primarily for learning vocabulary words, so having the ability to combine a bunch of chapters’ worth of words into a big board and go through them that way would be great!

*** I have found a bug, and it’s quite annoying***
When I click on a card there should be an arrow to the side to quickly advance to the next card in the board. This arrow is present when a card is first clicked on, however it disappears when I advance one card over or when the card is flipped. It doesn’t disappear if I have my iPad oriented in landscape but it does in portrait. This makes it extremely cumbersome to review the cards quickly as I have to zoom out just a bit, which seems to reset the card somehow and bring back the arrow. This bug isn’t present on the free version of the app so it’s frustrating that it is in the paid version.
catch up to the android ver,
Great app for general productivity and mind-mapping!
As a general user and a visual learner, this app is amazing and you can tell that the devs have put a lot of hard work into it! It’s visually pleasing and the editing options are great!

As a student though, it could use more work. The flashcard feature is really basic, there’s really no way to test yourself other than saying the answer out loud and flipping the card to see the answer. If possible, I’d like to suggest some active learning options such as a temporary text box where you can write/type out the answer, and still see it when you flip the card for easier comparison with the real answer on the back. I think it’d help loads of people who learn best by writing things out multiple times, and also people learning a different language like Chinese or Japanese.

Other than that, this app is really easy to use and would be a great outlining tool for people who use mindmaps! Thanks for all your hard work!
user03938290,
Nice app - but needs a few more quality of life improvements
This is a nice app. I haven’t experienced any bugs or issues with my save files, so its stable and the inking is good.

I think a few little improvements could really increase the quality of life:

1. Insert multiple images into a card (or, at least more than 1 on each side) — I think this is very helpful when you want to have more than 1 concept on a card, and need to snip from multiple sources.

2. Highlighter tool — remember its own color separately. right now, you highlight, then change color, then go back to pen and have to change color again, all because they share the same color setting.

3. Select linked cards as a group. Right now, linked cards can’t be selected as a group. Which makes selecting them all cumbersome, after you expand them and possibly over other cards. Once they are expanded over other cards, lasso’ing them will then select the other cards — making the whole link-collapse-expand-collapse idea inefficient and hard to work with in theory. This one small change would make that feature essential and 1000x more useful.

EDIT: Actually, it does have Apple pencil pressure sensitivity, but it is much more faint than other apps. I like it, though.

Thanks!
XC077,
Add Apple Pencil support and a pencil
I think it fills a major gap in digital and traditional media but l want a pencil. I really like the ability to zoom in to detail then zoom out to the overview, with the ability to quickly reorganize ideas, but I want a pencil, preferably a good one. Other issues seem like bugs or over sights. Flipping the card clears the undo stack. Which is ironic because a two finger tap is the undo in many apps, but here it flips the card and deletes the undos. I think ypu can’t rename individual cards. Or just can’t figure out how easily. Only one photo per card seems restrictive but not that big to me. Access from my iPhone would’ve been nice. Of all the digital benefits access is always on my mind. The ideas come when them come. I want to catch them without having to track transfer across apps. What’s special about this app is that after all these years it’s the only one that gives me the overview that I want.
Si0pao,
Best app for digital handwritten flashcards!
I searched high and low for a flashcard app that supported Apple Pencil. It’s worth the purchase to upgrade to premium. So far I have created over 1000 cards to get me through the semester. I love how it’s synced to the cloud and you can save it as a pdf file. I have a couple suggestions: a. Allow for different styles of pens b. Allow for different sizes of eraser (include whole stroke erasing) c. A way to formate front templates and back templates so that you don’t have to manually change it each time d. A way to generate x amount of cards instead of one at a time e. A zoom box feature where you can write in instead of having to zoom the card f. Searchable handwriting!! I contemplated ditching this app for GoodNotes and upload a flashcard template there but they don’t do as good of a job as cardflow (esp the hyperlink feature)....i hope you guys take our suggestions seriously by you would make this happy customer even happier!!!!
TimeWolf,
I like this app.
This app addresses of of the great problems of brainstorming on an electronic device. Aggregating multiple thoughts into one solution. With conventional brainstorming you use a really big sheet of paper or whiteboards or or a paper tablet and flip back and forth rather quickly. Most pad and tablet apps do not do this part well...that is work with multiple ideas separately and have them handy for aggregation. The index card approach is a great solution.

I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars for two functional reasons. First, some of the screen icon placements do not work well for left handers. I would think it would be simple enough to have a setting that would flip the screen for lefties. Second, I got caught in some sort of previous step loop and lost about an hour's work helplessly watching as everything I touched erased a previous step until about half of my worked remained. I finally aborted the program to make it stop and autosave.
plant notes,
Where have you been all my life?
Mindmaps have never satisfied my urge to sort notes into piles and move them about in thought space. And pages of notes can be daunting when you need to go back to extract key ideas. And while there are other good index card apps out there... they don’t combine the flexibility of spatial sorting, handwriting, sketching, and multimedia note-taking in a single app. When you’re ready... the export options are more than adequate. I love this app! A few more tweaks would be nice. The ability to adjust ink transparency, multiple text sizes on a single card, more markdown, text hyperlinks (can’t seem to make these work), and the option to use more than one image on a card. These are small features (I think) but would really make this app shine.
BbyTrigg,
I like that you can handwrite but...
I love the fact that you can handwrite notecards and that’s why I bought the app. However apart from being able handwrite the app overall is very difficult. Trying to study is hard because of the wonky organization. I’m in an organic chemistry class and for on part of the class we have to do box problems where we guess the products based on the reagents used and flipping the notecard really helps. For the other part of the class we need to know the mechanisms on creating a desired product and a flow chart works better. I like the board idea for that aspect but a stacks, sort of along the lines of quizlet would be helpful for making a study group. So far the app is really only good for organizing ideas in a flow chart, it’s really not the best for studying which is why I gave it 2 stars. This app has a lot of potential because there are some classes or cases in general where apps, like quizlet, where typing is the only way of creating notecards doesn’t work.
chrisi.w.,
Great app, if it would stop crashing
I use this app mainly as a brainstorming tool for writing papers and projects. It’s amazing, with an easy to use interface and really handy functionality.

Some of my favorite features are: being able to switch between typing for text, and hand-writing or drawing with the pen tool; and flipping cards to use both sides. Generally, I just love having an app that behaves like a stack of real index cards—but better.

The only problem is that this app crashes a LOT. I’ve had to make a habit of closing and reopening my boards after each card I add or change, to force it to save (as I haven’t found a feature yet that would allow me to save manually from within the board or settings).

If I don’t do that after every edit, I lose all the changes I’ve made to the most recent card (sometimes the last two or three cards) when the app crashes and I have to restart it. It’s generally unpredictable but if I had to pick out a pattern, it seems to happen most often when I try to use the pen tool.

So just a heads up if you decide to get this app: close and re-open your boards often to avoid losing information, especially when using the pen tool to hand-write or draw on your cards.
