Description
The Centre for Mindfulness Studies is a charitable social enterprise founded in
2011 in downtown Toronto. It is the leading professional development and service
delivery organization for online and in-person mindfulness-based interventions in Canada. We provide Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), and specialized
mindfulness training to the general public, corporate organizations, healthcare
providers, and social service professionals. As a mental health charity, we help those who face economic and social barriers by providing affordable and effective mindfulness-based mental health services through our Community Program. The Centre for Mindfulness Studies is committed to making mindfulness-based mental health services available to everyone.
Mindfulness is awareness cultivated through meditation and other mind-body
practices to regulate and shape our attention and emotions. Mindful awareness
disrupts automatic tendencies to create space to choose a different response. The
evidence base for the efficacy of mindfulness-based therapy for the treatment of
depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders has been established through
hundreds of published research papers, many randomized control trials, and
several recent meta-analyses. Mindfulness-based therapies have also shown to be
effective in addressing the factors that lead to social isolation.
This app was developed specifically for the purpose of supporting a participant’s mindfulness-based practice. The app provides all of the meditations that are used in our 8-week MBCT, MBSR, and MSC programs. Other meditations by our expert faculty can also be accessed through the app. The unique approach the Centre takes on mindfulness meditation is evidence-based, highly-researched, and clinically proven. It is focused on mindfulness for mental health and the approach is embedded in healthcare.
Other features include:
- Ability to filter meditations by program and duration
- Save (or “favourite”) meditations for quick access
- Download meditations so that they can be used offline
- Schedule meditations for yourself and receive a notification when it’s time to meditate. This can be done daily, weekly, monthly or one time
- Scroll through our MindFeed notification board which will give you all the latest news in mindfulness, including upcoming programs at the Centre and blog posts
You may use this app for free, but if you wish to support our charitable mission to make mental health services accessible to all, please consider donating at
