If all developers listened to their customers like they do, life would be a better place. They actively monitor and respond within minutes to every post put on their Community forums support pages. They listen to customer feedback and routinely implement feature requests from the community. I’ve been using their Channels app since back when it first came out and you had to pay for the app separately for each platform you intended to use it on. I can assure you, this is the best app in the Apple App Store.
Mark_S_NYC,
Decent but disappointing
I purchased this application today for my Apple TV and my iOS devices. After a complicated setup that included addressing issues on my NAS drive and spending money for a subscription to the “plus" service, I learned that the main feature for which I undertook this effort, picture and picture (PIP) on Apple TV, does not work as at least I had expected - perhaps I misunderstood, but I don’t think it is clear.

When the application puts the source video into the PIP box, the video stops when another video application on the device starts playing video. THAT IS NOT PICTURE IN PICTURE. True Picture in Picture permits watching two video sources at once. For example, watching a game in the PIP box while watching a movie full screen. All you can do is navigate the device and run non-video apps (e.g., read email) while watching the video in the PIP box. I can do this already with my spectrum tv app on my iPad so what does Channels actually do for me that I couldn’t do already?

While I am disappointed, this application works as advertised by playing tv from my server to numerous devices.
JDB,
Thanks for allowing Channels on the M1 Macs
I've been using Channels for years on the iPad and Apple TV and have been very happy with it. It works flawlessly.

I'm especially happy with the current version(s) that work equally well on the M1 MacBook Air. Unlike a lot of iPad software, either the app is prevented from running by the developer or is unsuited for real use because of screen scaling or some other issue. Not Channels, it just works.

Thanks for a great app.
rickhartmanii,
Great addition to streaming
I put a small antenna in the window, hooked it up to an HD Home Run 4 channel tuner, hooked that to my Mac running ChannelsDVR and I’m in business. I can watch live TV on all of my devices no matter where I am as well asDVR all my favorite shows and all of this for $8 a month. Best $8 I ever spent. I highly recommend using ChannelsDVR as part of your OTA solution.
Luke Begga,
Almost too responsive to bugs
It's insane how quicky bugs are identified and fixed. Like this red flash thing when changing menus--i noticed it but figured it was my apple tv bugging out or my actual tv. And yet, someone reported the bug and they immediately fixed it. Anyway. Have a good day.
Scott👨‍💻,
Need native Mac version - bad video issues
There are major scaling issues which prevent the app from playing video on secondary screens. I have three monitors, all of which are "retina" / HiDPI and video only plays properly on whatever display is set to be the primary. Once you drag the window onto a secondary monitor, the video zooms into so much that is is unwatchable. This prevents me from watching content while still using my main display since it only works on my main display.
lsocoee,
Amazing developers
I had a slight problem and wrote about it in their forums and the developers responded within the hour. The problem was on my end, but they were able to help me get it resolved that evening.
DJRoe,
Software and devs are terrific!
11 new features, 9 feature improvements and SIXTEEN fixes in this latest version — and that's for a product that was already rock-solid and easy-to-use!

The Channels developers are simply unmatched in their dedication to their platform, product, and users.

This new version is the result of near-daily updates to their beta versions (which are often updated themselves several times PER DAY). I have never seen developers so responsive to their users.

Thanks!
paul.coppola,
I love Channels
I have been using Channels for over a month now and I love it. I run the server on a Mini PC / Z8350 with Unbuntu. Was a snap to install and with a 2TB USB drive allows an ample amount of recording capacity. Outside of some tweaks I’d recommend I have nothing bad to say about Channels.
judytunes,
Doesn’t let me choose channels
Odd name for an app bc doesn’t let me opt out of recording supposedly “new” episodes on other channels not running current episodes. But I love the skip commercials facet! Great way to bypass instead of just fast forwarding!
