Description

ChemTrix is a powerful calculator for common chemical problems.

ChemTrix is the chemistry app you've been hearing about. It's the calculator preferred by discerning chemists, profs, and students who use it every day to get their work done quickly and accurately.

"Easy to use, intuitive, and exactly what I expected from the description; by far one of the most useful chemistry apps I've found."

"It is easy to use and super helpful, saving hours when doing those sheets of long, tiresome equations in AP chem."

"This saves me some serious time at work, I can't recommend it enough!"

Other chemistry calculators make it hard to do simple things. Not ChemTrix. ChemTrix was built by chemists, for chemists. It has powerful, convenient, time-saving features that make common chemical calculations a snap.

Enter a chemical formula, and ChemTrix calculates:

- Molar mass (molecular weight)
- Exact (monoisotopic) mass
- Most probable mass
- Isotopic mass distribution
- Percentage composition by mass
- Mass-moles-molar mass relationships (including unit conversions)
- Moles-volume-concentration (molarity) relationships (including unit conversions)

ChemTrix features:

- Quick, simple, and accurate formula entry using a purpose-built keypad, including programmable buttons for even more flexibility and speed
- Natural chemical syntax, including nearly 100 pre-programmed chemical groups, such as common organic fragments and protecting groups, polyatomic ions, and ligands
- A history of all entered formulae, any of which can be incorporated as fragments into new formulae
- User-defined abbreviations for any formulae
- Detailed listings of the properties of all the elements in the periodic table, including electronic configurations, isotopes, electronegativities and more.

1.6
2012-12-03
- Support for unit conversions. Units are no longer limited to g, mol, L, and M (for mass, moles, volume, and concentration, respectively.) These units can be freely set to any combination of kilo, milli, micro, and nano orders of magnitude.
- Several user interface improvements, including in-calculator browsing of previously-entered formulae in the 4" retina version of the app.
- Small bug fixes.
1.5
2012-10-19
ChemTrix 1.5:

- Has been redesigned to take advantage of the larger screen of the iPhone 5 and 5th generation iPod touch.
- Features four programmable buttons (P1-P4) that may be assigned to any element or group, including formulae that the user has previously entered.
- Allows names to be assigned to formulae. For example, the abbreviation "THF" (tetrahydrofuran) might be assigned to the formula C4H8O. "THF" may then be assigned to one of the programmable buttons to make entering related formulae, like AlCl3(THF) and AlMe3(THF), quick and easy.
1.2
2012-09-27
ChemTrix version 1.2:
- Ensures compatibility with iOS 6.
- Puts the formula history into reverse chronological order.
- Adds electronegativity data to the built-in periodic table.
- Improves in-app navigation.
1.1
2012-09-04
ChemTrix version 1.1:
- Fixes an issue that could cause the app to confuse entities with the same token, e.g., the element praseodymium for the propyl group, which are both denoted by "Pr."
- Updates the periodic table with more accurate data.
- Adds useful formula-reuse functionality. Previously entered formulae can now be incorporated as fragments into the current formula, e.g., PPh3 into RuCl2(PPh3)3.
- Makes it possible for the user to delete either all formulae or a single formula from the history.

Maleficus187,
Very good UI
One recommendation though, it would be better to have more custom buttons and less preset by the app that can't be changed. Let me decide which atoms or groups I commonly use.

Quick Reference
Helpful for quick reference. Don't like how you can't type in atoms though and have to scroll through a list
lilaquadude,
Very useful
As opposed to hand jamming 👍
Cakecharm,
Simple, elegant.
This app does exactly what it says it does with good, clean design. Eliminates flipping back and forth to your periodic table and saves time by calculating the molar mass - which is not hard to do but in very complex formulas, it gets tedious. Keep up the good work!

Very Useful
This app helped take out all the simple addition and some algebra making chemistry much easier. Their are still more features to use that I don't need yet.
422revolution,
Great app
Easy to use, intuitive, and exactly what I expected from the description; by far one of the most useful chemistry apps I've found.
KatyaWright,
I wish I had this when I was in chemistry.
It is easy to use and super helpful, saving hours when doing those sheets of long, tiresome equations in AP chem.
Chemgrad,
Almost there
Great app so far! One thing that would be awesome is if we could create our own groups. But other than that it's pretty good!
Sho0Fly,
A Must Have for Chemistry
Now we must all join together to get our teachers to allow iPhones/iPods during tests :P
Dickjustdick,
Great!
I'm a Chem Prof and I use this app in class often. A bunch of students now use it too! It's easy and helpful!
