Chinese checkers is a board game that can be played by two, three, four, or six people, playing individually or with partners. The game is a modern and simplified variation of Halma. The objective is to be first to race one's pieces across the hexagram-shaped game board into "home" – the corner of the star opposite one's starting corner – using single-step moves or moves which jump over other pieces. Others keep playing to establish 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and last place finishers. The game involves some strategy but is popular even among young children.
A basic strategy is to find the longest hopping path that leads closest to, or immediately into, "home" – the destination star point at the opposite side of the board. (Multiple-jump moves are obviously faster to relocate pieces than step-by-step moves.) Since either player can make use of any hopping 'ladder' or 'chain' created, more advanced strategy involves hindering an opposing player, in addition to helping oneself find jumps across the board. Of equal importance are the players' strategies for emptying and filling their starting and home corners. Games between experts are rarely decided by more than a couple of moves.
Differing numbers of players result in different game layouts. Each layout imposes a different best-game strategy. For example, if a player's "home" or destination corner is empty (not an opponent's starting corner), the player can freely arrange his/her pieces to serve as a 'ladder' or 'bridge' between the two opposite ends. But if a player's opponent occupies the home destination corner, the player might be better advised to play a "waiting game" until all pieces have moved out.

Fun games with annoying pop-up ads
The game is ok but the pop-up ads are annoying, especially sometimes they disrupt the playing. Hope there is an option to remove the ads, such as paying $1 to get ads free.
Also near the end of the game, the computer AI needs to be improved. Sometimes it can take a jump and a move to finish the game, but the computer components choose three moves (one extra unnecessary move).

Miss the old version
Just tapped into the game app to play today, and noticed the game was totally revamped. I lost all of my stats and coins. I could only play offline. When trying to click platform, I get a connection failed, server full message. The old version allowed you to connect online easily, and keep your profile and stats. The new format looks clean, but please fix the online platform issues and the opportunity to start a new profile again.

This app touts itself as an “online” Chinese checkers game. It DOES NOT go online. It can only be played by the individual against the computer. I have read other reviews that mentioned of how the app once went online until an update prevented them from doing so. I have NEVER been online with this app.

Update ruined it!
I used to play this all the time. Since the update a couple weeks ago, the game says the servers are full and connection failed. Please fix this. I miss playing Chinese Checkers!

Needs updating
This game is wonderful, except for a few bugs. The touch sensitivity sometimes doesn't register well, which defeats the purpose of playing games on the iPad.
But, the most aggravating issue I am running into now is the advertisements trying to auto-load without touching them as a new game begins. It is infuriating when they will NOT close correctly and allow the game to continue to load. EVERY time I start a new game now, this happens and closing the game out and restarting it isn't enough. In order for the incomplete advertisement or black screen to go away and for the game to finish loading, I must exit this game, open a different game, then close that one out and re-open this one. This is the only program on my entire iPad that has this problem, so it certainly isn't a problem with my iPad.

Bad update, good game
I agree with the other review that this update caused serious issues with the touch functions. I had no problem before, but now I have trouble getting it to work. Overall it's a good game, just a really bad update that makes gameplay frustrating. Please fix!
The game could also use some instructions and descriptions about the different AI options. I was confused at first as there is no indication of what the various player options do. I can understand people getting irritated by this and deleting the game, which is a shame since it's fun if you know how to set things up properly.

Great family game
The board looks great and the green dots showing all possible moves makes it easy for beginners to learn. My kids love watching the marbles hop over each other. The AI is a bit simplistic, but that's okay as our family would rather play against each other.
Would be nice to have an undo feature as sometimes we accidentally touch the screen when trying to explain strategy to our kids.

This app is not bad considering that it's free. My boys ages 9 and 11 enjoy playing the game for it allows them to play against each other or against the computer. It even let's you choose the computer level of difficulties. Some things that are missing: 1. Instructions for the game; 2. Option to turn off the highlights for the next moves; 3. Option to replay the last move; and 4. Timer.

Too long of a wait for eachnew game
I played the single mode which puts computer generated players on the board. No problem, except when you're done, you always have to wait for for their "rational" player to finish, at a snail pace. It goes around the board and that player makes a move. Since all other players are finished, it keeps going to each player then passes them until "rational" makes another turn and so on. Ugh, i just close the game when i'm done and have to start again.
