Cleveland Historical is a free app that puts Cleveland history at your fingertips. Developed by the Center for Public History + Digital Humanities at Cleveland State University, Cleveland Historical is a mobile application that provides an interpretive view of the region's history. Find interesting people, places and events in Cleveland history, and take curated historical tours of the city. Each point on the interactive location-enabled map includes historical information about the site along with historic images from Cleveland's top archival institutions. Many sites also include audio clips and short documentary videos based on oral history interviews from CSU's Cleveland Regional Oral History collection (clevelandvoices.org). Cleveland Historical is a collaborative project with stories created by teachers, students, professors, and community members, and curated by the Center for Public History + Digital Humanities. Fantastic!
I absolutely love this app. It's like carrying around a Cleveland tour guide with you wherever you go.
There are tons of POI's with new ones being added fairly regularly. Plus, it's quite a user friendly little app. The only thing I would ask for is support for landscape mode, which would make viewing some photos and videos a bit more enjoyable.
All in all, a fantastic app that I hope all lovers of the CLE will use and support. Keep up the great work CSU!!!

Illuminating the history of Cleveland!
Splendid app for immersing yourself in the history of our fair city; would be great for visitors as well.

I use this all the time!
This is absolutely wonderful and I still use this all the time even though I originally downloaded this a while ago. I'm so glad that someone took the time to compile all of this in such an easy to use format!

Great app!
This app has been a valuable tool while researching my family history in the Cleveland area from the mid 1850’s. The photographs of buildings demolished long ago help fill out the stories from my parents’ childhood.

Ok but....
Many pictures don't open at all just crash also the app is quite limited in topics of various historical Cleveland area landmarks and historical scenarios. The infamous unsolved murder of William Lowe Rice in 1910 for example, as well, the creation of Euclid Heights where Rice's supposed murderer John Hartness Brown lived (the house still stands) one of three original mansions all still standing.

Quite comprehensive
Here's a good catalog of historic sites that proves Cleveland is worth your time. Theme-based tours are a nice feature. App works well if you're willing to wait a few seconds for the data to load.

Great resource for Clevelanders
Whether you want to know about local landmarks near you or follow a suggested tour this is a brilliant guide. It includes maps, photos, landmark descriptions and for some, audio clips of resident interviews. And it's free!

This app is very well put together. There is so much history, and detail about areas, and landmarks all around northeast Ohio. It’s a must for anyone living here or visiting.
