Important! CollabraCam 3.0 is not compatible with previous versions of CollabraCam. Before starting a session, please make sure that each participant has updated to CollabraCam 3.0.
When the director begins a session, all cameras start recording simultaneously and they record the entire time. As the director switches cameras, an Edit Decision List is created. At the end of the session, all of the cameras create clips from their captured video based on the in and out points from the EDL and Camera 1 creates the audio track, then the video and audio is transferred to the director, to assemble the Director’s Cut. The EDL, video and audio can be saved to your computer via iTunes and imported into Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017. Once imported, you can pick up with post right where you left off with capture, ready to tweak in and out points, add titles, transitions and effects... or you can quickly start from scratch and re-edit the footage with Premiere Pro’s Program Monitor multi-camera editing interface.
The camera has been improved to increase performance and enhance the user experience... We are excited to release 2.0 with 1080p video capture! It's been a long journey to get to this release. We are happy to say it's finally here.
Due to hardware limitations, iPad 2 cannot capture 1080p video or export a 1080p movie from CollabraCam to the Camera Roll. If you use iPad 2 as Director with devices capable and set to 1080p video capture, the highest resolution for export of a movie will be 720p; however, If you use camera sources capable of 1080p, set to 1080p, your clips exported to the Camera Roll or to your Mac will still be 1080p since they are exported as the originally captured file. iPad 2 will take longer to create preview and export a 720p movie created with 1080p clips. If you must use iPad 2 as Director, but 720p is ok for clips, switch all camera sources to 720p video capture in the Settings prior to starting a session.
The most important change to the user interface is the Camera Status. The previous Camera Status was causing confusion for new users since it looked like a grayed out camera capture button.
We are also happy to announce that the First Edition of the CollabraCam User Guide is now available on iBooks. The CollabraCam User Guide was created to help new users learn how to use the app, from start to finish. It’s also great for educators and teachers to help students understand CollabraCam’s easy-to-use, live multicam editing and on-the-fly directing workflow.

While we are not quite ready to call it 2.0 until CollabraCam includes 1080p, this is still a significant update... this update includes a new user interface and 720p video recording. We are working hard to get through iOS 8 compatibility issues (one of which is 1080p export), once those issues have been resolved we will include 1080p video recording. Thank you for your patience!

I won’t go into detail about how awesome this is, though I could. It’s AMAZING. The ease of use and clean look is unmatched by most apps of any kind.
I wish it had some picture-in-picture options, a live stream, and possibly the option to overlay graphics. These options in other multi-camera set-ups cost a lot of money, so for $5 I won’t be overly critical, but I’d compromise and pay more, and I know other “directors” would, also.

Three Point Oh Noooo
Bought this app in 2011 when it came out and suffered with other early adapters while all the bugs were worked out. Now that version 3.0 is out, I can no longer download an older version (which was working fine on my older iPad that cannot update to 10) of the app even though I paid for it and oh well who cares, it's just money right?

A waste or money
This app looks pretty but is not working well. I only Getafe image from 1 camera but the second this showed like color bars and no image from camera I waste 5 dolars.

Good idea! It doesn’t work at all! Refund my money!
I set up the wifi hotspot as instructed. No instance of the program opened the window allowing me to select the director or cam nodes.

I've never been more disappointed with anything I've ever purchased before in my life. Support people never responded. The app didn't open or work. When the app opened none of the buttons work. No directions/instructions. No FAQs. If it's thinking or calibrating or loading there's nothing that indicates any such thing. I literally could never get the thing to work. A complete waste of money do not buy. When you open it it's literally just a black screen with the logo there are five icons under the logo none of them explain a freaking thing. I never give reviews, but I took the time to review this one because it absolutely was the biggest disappointment of my life!

Fun!
I had a lot of fun playing with this app. My friends and I are looking forward to making videos this weekend. Now that the iphone video is such high quality, we can skip a lot of the steps to video editing and get the multi-camera shots with our phones. It's a bit of a bummer that you need wifi, but it makes sense that you can't stream 4 videos over 3g. I'm going to try to set up an ad-hoc network with my laptop when I'm out of wifi range.
I think this could be a fantastic setup for recording practical jokes with hidden cameras. I'll have to give this some more thought. ;)
The way the director is set up kind of reminds me of a security camera monitor and I'll can see using it for video monitoring, like a temporary security camera setup, or a video baby monitor.
The bottom line is that there are many ways to use this to have fun or be productive and I'm really impressed what can come out of such a little phone.

Game changing for the arts
We used Collabracam to record four nights of an in-home theater experiment, giving a worldwide audience access to new plays, and playwrights access to new audiences. While I'm still hoping for live streaming direct from CC, it is an amazing first start to something that ultimately will change the way the arts are presented to the world. Wonderfully easy to use, and great support from Kyle. Tip: do yourself a favor and invest/borrow four iPhone 4 or 4s "cameras", it's worth it ... iPod touch loses synch very quickly and the video quality is poor.
