This app is amazing!!!!

As a millennial, I think a lot about social media and the different options that are available to me. I have been a member of Facebook for about 7 years now and I am getting tired of the thousands of "friends" that I have showing up on my Newsfeed that I haven't spoken to in years. Although I find Instagram to be an alternative and more artistic platform to share photos, I still feel that I have an expectation to present myself in a specific type of way so that all of my followers think that I am always off on cool adventures doing out-of-this world things on a weekly basis. Not to mention that as I get older and consider professional career opportunities and starting my own family at one point, I am definitely concerned about the lack of privacy and data-mining that both Instagram and Facebook have been getting away with. HOWEVER, the millennials are NOT doomed! Fireside is a creative, authentic, and private alternative. Through Fireside, I have created a small community of people who I know very well and feel comfortable sharing moments of my life with through pictures and text. I don't have the overwhelming thousands of friends that I have back on Facebook and I don't have this societal pressure to present my life as perfect and flawless. Along with that, I also don't have to worry about my privacy! And I promise you that your privacy is also worth the small investment that you make by becoming a member of Fireside!

I am so grateful for this app. Here's what I see when I open it: my closet friends and their honest, hysterical posts- in text and picture forms. Pictures of their kids going about their days, posts about really challenging or really silly moments. Just the day to day. Nothing fancy. Simple and connected.

I feel far more connected to the favorite people in my life because of this app.

And the design is really gorgeous. It's simple. It's easy. It's clear. No ads. All private. Like really private.

At first, it can feel a little funny connecting to the people you love- you have to know their email address, you have to ask them to join you (via text or email)- it takes some work. Get past it. It's so worth it for the opportunity to feel like I am having a cup of coffee, or sitting around the fire, with the people I absolutely love the most. They live far away but this is the next best thing.

Great app. 4+ stars. For sure.

I've recently "sold" a family friend on this great app to document the building of his house! He was looking for a good way to document the process and share with family and friends without "broadcasting to the world" Fireside fit the bill completely! I'm so looking forward to how it all develops down the road and am thrilled to be a part of it! My own circle of family and friends is growing and I truly enjoy sharing my little world with them, feeling secure knowing that it's just us!

When you first get into Fireside, it's like moving into a new apartment. It's simple and clean. And yeah, it might be a little quiet til you invite some friends over. So you hang a little something on the wall, decorating the new place you just moved into. It starts to look like you, and it's all yours. And unlike the last place you lived (ahem, FB), this one's not bugged and there's no nosy landlord always snooping on you and selling your data as a condition of your "lease." Welcome to your new life. Take a deep breath. Enjoy.

Fireside has given me fresh start. A place to feel free to be real, but still be social. I was beginning to think I had to swear off social media to escape the fake insanity of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I'm so happy I have Fireside! Now I can be private without being a luddite. The hardest part is convincing your closest friends to give it a chance. It's worth the effort though, at least I think so!

Privacy is the next big thing in social media and Fireside is on it. Fireside is elegant and clean- no ads. Love that! And only the people I connect to come up on my feed, I don't have to see anyone else's stuff. That's a breath of fresh air. Their photo filters are different from anything I've see too which is fun. I'm keeping my Fireside network small. I'll leave everyone else on Facebook. :)

Fireside is the coolest way to share photos with far-away family and friends without having to worry about who else is looking at them. You only see stuff from people that you are actually friends with and there aren't any sneaky algorithms (ahem, like on fb!) and data collection demons stealing my info!

The app design seems fairly good. It's annoying that it's a desktop-only app (no desktop web interface), but I have nobody to complain about it to because as far as I can tell nobody else is on here. There is no way to see which contacts (or Twitter followers or G+ contacts etc...) are on the network. You have to spam invites to everyone in hopes that somebody will join. The network won't grow or thrive that way.

Would I be happy to pay these fees for the service? Absolutely! I just need to be able to find people I care about on here first.

A great alternative to Facebook and Instagram. The idea if paying a small fee for privacy is hard to accept at first, but then it makes complete sense: For the cost of 1 cup of coffee a month, I no longer have to worry about privacy settings or how my information is being used. Love that. The more I use it the better I like it.
