Connections App by NCSA
Start scrolling! Learn how to find an Elder, a recipe or how to do your taxes. The Connections App is designed for Alberta youth and young adults aged 14-26 who are transitioning to adulthood from government care. The App features articles, how-to comics, videos and tips.
The App content and messaging has been guided by Indigenous Elders, Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA) program staff and Alberta Children’s Services staff and caseworkers. Connections provides over 150 resources in 17 topics areas, including Housing, Education, Mental Health, Money, Food and Transition to Adulthood.
App features include the ability for youth to Add Supports, set appointments and get notifications. There is quick access to Mental Health and Emergency information that encourages users to reach out to those who can help them. Youth can search key words and Heart their favourite articles.
Connections is beautifully designed, rich with illustrations and includes a graphic novel style How-To Series that includes How To Get Gas, How to Do your Taxes, How to use Your Stove and How to Do Laundry.
