Cosmic Top is a toy, a 3D audiovisual physics simulation of a spinning, wobbling, and morphing top. The top floats among stars and takes on unlimited colorful shapes and sci-fi sounds which glow and hum in stereo from your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Swipe to spin it, pinch to zoom it, or hold to brake it. If you rotate your device, you can see and hear the top from all sides. Record your own spin and tumble sounds and then hear both tracks played back in sync with the motion of the top. Create and share video of your favorite top action. Edit echo effects, color flow, and spin inertia of each top style. Best of all, with a touch of the cosmic button, a new cosmos of sight and sound will be created for you to explore.

A very good app just got better!
Update: OMG I just remembered this app and fetched it!!! My iPad died and it’s a rude awaking to only have the iPhone 12 screen. Very few apps are ‘reasonable’ to use on the i12. Cosmic Top is not one of them. I love this app, and I never said that about any app before, ever. I own several thousand. It can be so relaxing, mesmerizing, meditative and fun! And they have added some new tops since I played with it last. 🤓
I, and everybody that plays with Cosmic Top, fall in love with it and now with this update for the Retina display it looks even better. Adding CD quality is even better! It's a great baby sitter even for adults. Lol

Still awesome
I still play with this app after more than 5 years!! I want to make an art installation with it for festivals it is that cool on a big screen or projection.

Outstanding Visuals!
Get this! You will have hours of mindless fun, and learn a lot about physics in the process. An amazingly polished app for a first release from this developer. Looking forward to more great stuff!
If you like this app, check out the various apps under the title 'iamascope' as well. Similar but quite different. These kind of apps never get boring because there are so many options.
A feature request would be to add mic sensitivity so the tops change size or pulse to the ambient sound environment. If not a size change, then perhaps changing color to sound. Hey, it's great the way it is, but I bet this developer can take us places we haven't even imagined yet.

The visuals on this App are among the best I have seen on the retina display. An unexpected bonus are the sound effects, which enable you to almost play it like a theremin. A tertiary surprise is the impressive range of the speed control; slower speeds sometimes make the tops look like galaxies; and speeds approaching infinity will often make them look like subatomic particles. The zoom feature is even better than my original expectations. The efficiency of this work of genius is amazing, it is incredibly fast and responsive and a small file size of top of everything. I even love the odd "cosmic" feel of the app; You'll know what I mean when you download it!
