Description

Couchmate brings live chat to live TV. Instead of watching your favorite live sport, reality show or news program alone, you can now watch together via dedicated chat rooms.

By leveraging the TV grid that everyone knows, finding your favorite show is a scroll or search away. One click and you're instantly chatting with everyone else watching the same show.

Once in a show, you can talk about whatever's happening on screen (or anything really). By swiping left, you can expose more information about your current show, whose in the room with you and the ability to invite friends to chat with.

Couchmate is a blank slate which wants to give those watching live TV a home, a community, to finally share crazy and amazing moments during live TV together. Have fun!!

1. Notifications. You can now follow your favorite sports team, series or program with the click of a button. Get notified when the show room opens and start chatting with everyone else watching.

2. Easier Hashroom Creation. Want to jump to a Hashroom? Just click the Hashroom name in your current room, enter where you want to go and you're there instantly!

3. New App Tour. Users who are opening up Couchmate for the first time are now presented with a new and improved app tour that guides you through feature highlights before you start chatting.

1. Hashrooms! This has been something I’ve wanted to add for a long time. It’s basically a room within a room. Don’t want to be stuck in #general? Create your own # room and invite people there! You can name it whatever you want.

2. In-chat hashroom and username autocomplete. No longer do you need to completely type out usernames or hashrooms. Just use “@“ or “#” in your message and you’ll get some handy autocomplete above the message box.

3. In-chat user and hashroom highlighting. If you use a username or hashroom in your message, you’ll be able to interact with them in the message itself! Clicking a hashroom reference will take you directly to that room. Clicking a username will (eventually) give you some more info on that user.

GIF Keyboard: Search and post a huge variety of animated gifs into any room! Just open up your keyboard, hit GIF Keyboard and search for the perfect gif.

Link Previews: You can now post URLs in chat and previews of the links will appear for anyone to check out. Just click the preview to follow the link via your default web browser.
