Cowry dice is used in some traditional Indian games (like Pachisi), instead of the more common 6 sided dice. Sometimes 6 or 7 shells are used in the games. The value of the roll is determined by the number of shells facing up.
The values for a 6 shell throw is as follows:
0 cowry facing up = 25
1 cowry facing up = 10
2 cowry facing up = 2
3 cowry facing up = 3
4 cowry facing up = 4
5 cowry facing up = 5
6 cowry facing up = 6
7 cowry shell throws follows a separate set of scoring table:
0 cowry facing up = 7
1 cowry facing up = 10
2 cowry facing up = 2
3 cowry facing up = 3
4 cowry facing up = 4
5 cowry facing up = 25
6 cowry facing up = 35
7 cowry facing up = 14
