iPad Retina and iPhone 5 support for Cryptogram, Crypto-Families and Quotefalls.
- Added high resolution art for iPad retina support.
- New layout to get the most from the iPhone 5's larger screen, including a wider keyboard!
- Average puzzle times are now based on millions of scores.

Sorry for the long delay between updates - recreating all of the art at high resolutions for the retina iPads took a long time. Now that that task is over we'll get back to continuing to make Cryptogram better and better.

The purpose of this update is to thank our users with a free puzzle gift pack that includes fun new puzzles. Thank you for all for your loyal support and all of the great emails and reviews. We also fixed iOS 5 iPad printing and issues experienced older devices running iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.

• You can now browse and select puzzles by the quote's author. If you prefer not to know the quote's author before playing you can browse the puzzles based on the average time it takes other users to solve.
• We've added a fun new in app purchase "Potpourri"
• There is currently an issue printing with iOS 5, we are actively working on this and will have an update soon.

We recently made a change so Cryptogram iPad puzzles no longer include the author's name. We made this change for the following reasons:
• Puzzles can now be browsed by author. The challenge of a puzzle would be compromised if the author selected is also included at the end of the puzzle.
• Because of limited screen space, the iPhone puzzles never included the author's name, and this difference made scoring between iPhone and iPad inconsistent.
• User's have requested we add iCloud support to share Cryptogram data (scores, game state, etc.) across multiple devices, and this will work best if the iPhone and iPad function the same way.

We appreciate your ratings and reviews!

• Puzzles are now grouped Easy, Medium and Hard instead of Short, Medium and Long. These ratings are based on hundreds of thousands of puzzle scores. Easy games take the average user 3 minutes or less to complete, medium 4 minutes or less, and all puzzles that take more than 4 minutes are rated hard.
• We've added more puzzles. They are rated medium and we will update these ratings as data comes in.
• Puzzles are listed in order of difficulty.
• You can now gift Cryptogram, Crypto-Families, and or Quotefalls to your friends.
• 'Perfect Game' Achievements: Complete a game without any mistakes or hints (or turned off the Show Incorrect setting) and you will acquire new Game Center achievement points.
• Optimized game play for snappier response times.
• Improved Facebook support, updated for iOS 5, and other minor fixes.

McBirdman,
Perfect! Buy it - you will love it!
If you like cryptograms, just get it. If you don't like cryptograms, get it anyway and you'll learn to like 'em. The interface is beautifully and brilliantly done both aesthetically and functionally. The variety of puzzles and the choices of difficulty levels insure you'll have tons of puzzles to do whatever your skill level. Pretty much a perfect app and more than worth the price. Highly recommend.
&Grins,
User interface needs work.
Good selection of initial cryptograms. The option to print puzzle is nice. But user interface needs work for playing on an iPhone (5C). While background is pretty, it is too dark. Loose letter visibility in the background. Could be ok on iPad but straining to see the letters is irritating on an iPhone. Getting a headache trying to see is a big negative. When selecting the same letter twice, the previous does not delete. Why not? At least ask if I would like to replace previous usage in case the new was selected by accident. Fine tune the user interface for both iPhone and iPad. Probably will not purchase any in-app puzzles. Wish there had been a 'test out' version before purchasing. Would have only purchased when the user interface was improved. There are many nice things about the app, but improve the user interface. Will not purchase any in-app puzzled due to not only the interface but would like to know how many puzzles come with each purchase. Not going to pay 10 cents per puzzle. As I stated, fine tune the user interface.

Addictive
I love this app! So far they offer just the right amount of a challenge and gradually increase in difficulty. I really like the quotes...some humorous, some philosophical and some just common sense. When the author is named, sometimes it's a surprise.

Another plus is being able to compare your performance to others. It's definitely worth the minimal cost of new puzzles. I highly recommend this app.
Giggsburns,
OK, but not as nice as the daily version
The daily version (which is how I found this full app) has a cleaner interface. It's more noticeable which letters you have already used.

Also, I think there should be some sort of reset button (there isn't one in the daily version either) to start the puzzle over if you want to undo everything because it's not making sense. Deleting each letter an annoying way to have to clear out the puzzle.
Evolution’s Masterpiece,
Great, but crashes in final stretch.
A great app overall. No data collected is a plus and worth the price for a good interface and thousands of phrases.
But if you get all the way to the last 25-30-ish phrases, the app crashes at launch.
Double-tap of letters happened a little too much (sometimes ruining a ‘perfect game’ status for the phrase).
Otherwise, the app was rock solid and stable.
Remoh Cuz,
Nice Cryptogram
Have had this app for years & appreciate the puzzles recently added. This remains my favorite cryptogram app because the UI is simple to use. I esp like the option to show a wrong entry in red.

The only flaw: Occasionally an author’s name requires an accented letter (è ś é ć) but the keyboard within the app doesn’t allow that option. Therefore, completing the puzzle requires using a hint to auto fill with that letter’s accent, ruining an otherwise perfect score.

Life continues; it’s a good game.

Challenging and fun
One of my favorite apps. I love cryptograms and scrambles but find the ones in the paper too easy. I like that you can make this easier or harder if you want by turning incorrect answers on or off. The option to play against the clock can also make it more challenging. Recommended for puzzle people. Worth the cost.
rhinohippo,
Great app
I have been solving cryptograms for a long time. I have two other cryptogram apps, but this one is my favorite. I am impressed at how easy it is to use.
If your eyesight makes reading difficult, the colored background might make the text hard to read. Although I like the way the layout looks.

Alaska Surveyor
This app works well and is a lot of fun, however most of the puzzles seem too easy, especially after working the same ones a few times. I'd like to see a new category of puzzles-- some really hard ones that would take hours or days to work. These would probably not be quotes, but cyphers specially designed to be very difficult.
Kivacricket,
Delightful and educational
It's really fun to look up the authors of the quotations before trying to solve the puzzle (if you don't already know who they are) because then you are more apt to solve the puzzle faster. I have so much fun with this game and it's a great way to learn some quotations to use in conversation too!
