Nothingsmurf,
Excellent
Old but excellent! I already wrote a review but as usual mine don’t show up anymore? This is obviously an older game folks but far better than anything new released in this series for a long time! I absolutely loved the story! I usually get a bit bored in bonus chapters but I enjoyed even that story! Graphics were outdated but still fine, letters to read everywhere that tell the story chronologically and you find objects that open side parables that are directly related to the story and ancestry of the characters in the game. I’ll admit, I was not happy to see this installment after a week of nothing but I tried it and I loved it! I used to enjoy all the games in the parable series until this last year or so. If I recall, blue tea games was not involved in some of the newer releases in this series and only done by EIPIX. Maybe that’s why I didn’t like them. I’m not an EIPIX fan. So try it out and just know it’s a bit older. Oh, the map doesn’t teleport but the hint button will take you exact where needed! It teleports. Just FYI...
Duet girl,
Boring; can’t transport; lousy games; worse puzzles
I have bought a lot of the dark parables games in the past, but haven’t played one in about a year. I bought the collectors edition. I am giving it one star because the story line was interesting. There was no rhyme or reason as to where the clues were. Once you found them it was hard to find your way back though the land to use your clues. The many puzzles were beyond frustrating because you couldn’t tap things. The majority of them were “tap the pieces to turn them so they would match nearby pieces”. Great concept. But you would tap forever before it finally would turn. I got to where I just skipped those, which I never do.

The hidden objects were a joke. I didn’t even look at the list- just clicked anything colorful and usually I only missed one.

Thank heavens for the hint button, so I had at least a glimmer of where I was supposed to go. The only reason I even bothered to finish the game was because it was an interesting story line.

This used to be a great series. I had previously bought 6-7 of them. Don’t know if I’ll bother any more. Hopefully blue tea just dropped the ball completely on this one game, and this is not the norm. But don’t bother wasting your money on this particular game.
Littleto,
Loved this game!!!!
Ok I was really skeptical about this game when I downloaded it. Thinking it was probably just another being a detective and finding this and that with a pretty typical story but I was very wrong. Ok it’s partly that BUT the story is what really got me! It was beautiful and sad and scary and bittersweet all the way to the end of the bonus chapter. The ONLY thing I didn’t really fancy was the puzzles. The rest of the game was bomb. The map is huge and just when you think that’s all that’s left you’re led into more areas of interest. The game itself is pretty long compared to other big fish games I’ve played. I got this game on sale but would have gladly paid full price. It was that good. I don’t know how old this game is but developers please keep making games like this the story was incredible. 👍
SevenRiders,
It’s the Return of an Old Era!
Finally, after so long, Blue Tea has returned to doing this series. Sorry, Epix, but they did it better. The story is amazing and a little sad. (And the Frog Prince gets a mention, heehee!)And the graphics are beautiful, as is the music. The Cursed Objects make a return as well. Also, there are some easter eggs, such as Parn the cat and a Cursery book, and Rach Newmann, the Blue Tea thief, who’s also in every Blue Tea game ever, gets a very ‘salty’ reception in the intro. And the map is still useless but hey, it’s detailed more. I don’t know why people are complaining about these things or little things like no customization, so what if it doesn’t have these things? It’s nostalgic, and I love it, as I’m sure others do.
jennifer626,
Rushed to market
I played the short trial and I don’t think I’ll buy. This game was a huge disappointment. I had high hopes for another Blue Tea game updated by EIPIX, but I’m struggling to figure out what EIPIX did. Added some cut scenes where the characters have moving lips and decent voiceovers, perhaps?

What EIPIX DIDN’T do:

- update the map so that it teleports
- enable customizable difficulty
- QA the hint system, e.g., sometimes the map doesn’t tell you where actions are available
- diversify the HOPs. All 3 in the trial consisted of “find the pieces of the large items.”
- explain the collectibles fully in the tutorial (there are character figures that enable parables in addition to the 20 morphing “Cursed Objects” that allegedly speed up the hint meter)
- anything else??

The one minigame was brief and WOULD have been simplistic but for a game error in the item you should pick vs. the item described in the corresponding parable. I was irritated that I had to check the strategy guide to overcome this. I don’t want to spoil by specifying, but if it happens to you, know you’re not alone.

I think EIPIX and Big Fish cut corners to get this game out, since it’s been a long time since the last one. A pity.

If I buy because I get bored, I will update this review. For now, a 2.5 rounded down because I have no good reason to round up.
Stepht711,
Wonderful!!!
I absolutely loved this story. It was beautiful and had me totally immersed. No, the map didn't teleport, and I could nitpick it, but on the whole I thought it was a great story. Very engaging, and beautifully made. They made sure to give you a great back story as you progressed, (sometimes lacking in other games), so you knew where the characters came from, how they felt, their reasoning. It truly made me feel connected and invested in those characters. Was sad to see it come to an end (even though it was quite long). Maybe it's not "high tech" for some, or "up to 2018 standards" for others, but I throughly enjoyed it. To sum it up in one word.......Bravo!
blueflier,
Salt Princess is a Blue Tea Dream...love love love!
First review was lost so redoing briefly.

Yes, as other reviewers said, it’s old school — but it is truly still as immersive and spectacular as the Blue Tea Games of yore. You either love this series and its schtick (the heavy focus on story, the beautiful artwork and almost melodramatic soundtrack, loads of animation and cutscenes, and the fragmented HOPs) or you don’t.

I happen to love it, and this is long playing and full of puzzles and mini games. The free trial was short, but I’m still going. Unlike most of these HOPs these days, I found I can’t put this down...I find it completely takes me into this other world. No glitches, no goof ups, just a lovely fantasy with lots of cut scenes and drama that immerses me into the game.

I recommend highly, and give it 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
Zan K,
Disappointed
In the current previous installments of Dark Parables there was a custom mode, no cursed objects, and map that transports. I looked back on previous games to check this out. Unfortunately though the plot was good they gave us a dated game that dates back as far as 2015 or before. In fact the format was consistent of the ones released in 2015. I was confused about this. I love the series but this parable was not updated. Blue Tea Games needed to update it and Big Fish should have demanded a game that was consistent with ones released in the previous two years. Poor quality control. That is why I have a potentially great game a two star rating.
MakeItEasier,
Blue Tea Yea!
This is more like the series I've always enjoyed. Yes, some of the puzzles are repetitive and skip worthy, but the HOS are lovely and the storyline makes sense so it wasn't difficult to figure what to do next. The map does not teleport, but you rarely have to go more than one room away. I especially like how it all loops back to the beginning, so if you missed a morphing item, you get another chance to find it. I've played it more than once and enjoyed it each time.
Lilypads33,
Don’t play on phone
I don’t often play these games on a phone since they’re richly detailed and better on a bigger screen, but the phone version of this game was terribly disappointing! I only played the first couple of minutes but I noticed that several sound effects and voices were missing, while others worked fine. For example: voice on the recording at the beginning, which is in every Dark Parables game, was silent.
It was choppy and distracting. I can’t recommend this to anyone.
