A tiny little problem
I am studying civics at school, and we need this app for the course. I love it is a great app, but the only problem is that it does not flip to horizontal and only stays vertical. This bugs me because my ipad case does not stand well vertical, so maybe next update this could be a possibility.
AndrewMcDonald,
Nice, simple app with some great additional info
First of all, to the reviewers wondering where the signatures were. They are right there at the bottom of the Parchment view. They are faded bu they are there. This brings me to my second point-Parchment version is hard to see. Have you seen the original document at the National Archives? It IS hard to see. It's over 200 years old. It's not like it just came out of a laser printer.

As for the app, it's exacly what it says and then some. You get the text of the Declaration of Indpendence, information about all the signers (wish that were more than just a list of their accomplishments), notes about the creation and history of the document, an image of the original document and a clearer image of the engraving that I assume was used for printing copies.

My one gripe is the ads. I'd happily pay a couple bucks to remove the ads.
Jtaccordion,
Crashes on iPad Pro
I used an earlier version on my iPod touch a few years back and never had an issue, but this latest version does not work with iPad Pro. It crashes after about 2 seconds. Also, it looks like it does not work in landscape mode. I hope an update fixes it as when it works, it is the best out there.
soonergrrrl,
Nice, but...
This app does not do landscape, only portrait. As I typically keep my iPad in landscape mode, this makes it inconvenient to use this app. This has been requested previously but he developer hasn't updated since 2013. Probably gonna delete it and find something else...
Oly70,
Crash and crash again
When I downloaded this app I was watching the series of John Adams and was hoping to gain additional historical information. With the new 9.3 iOS it crashes before you can read the heading.
Olgchs,
Awsome

After the update you have image and then image -- though the first is the original it should say original instead of just image.
SturmB,
The Declaration of Independence and more.
The Declaration of Independence of the United States of America. What more needs to be said?

As I stated with the Constitution app, I am glad this is a free product, as everyone should be at least familiar with the Declaration of Independence, even if much of its wording is sometimes difficult to follow. Granted, it probably isn't a high priority app for most people to get, but it's definitely very well-done and does more than just present the text of the document.
PawsAndClaws,
It may seem strange to have this as an app, but...
It's great. This app and the related apps from the same provider caused me to actually read and understand these documents in detail for the first time.
