Lacking desktop features for mobile…
I’m giving it a 3 because this app does have potential.
However, there’s no buttons to actually join or search for groups— you can only click on “Watch” and that’s it. I find it very odd that they didn’t add the “join group” feature for mobile. I’m new to the app and I really do enjoy it, however the app is completely different and lacks many features.
Along with that, the app crashes, the scrolling is a bit off or “chunky”, nothing loads properly, etc,.
I think adding buttons for joining groups and maybe fixing more glitches and bugs would improve this, along with the focus on the report system or dealing with art theft. Not many people can stop art theft but reporting and deleting the accounts that do these things can help out a LOT. Why for my choice
Why I’m giving this version of DA a 3/5, it’s good, but can definitely be a lot better, one thing that makes me a bit angry is quite a couple features of this version, you have more options on the web, but not the version from the App Store, kinda rigged, especially for people with DA blocked on their web browser. So they can’t sign in as well, which you have to use the web browser version to sign in. Which is stupid!! It would be a bit better as well, if it wasn’t so buggy, but you have left this for 8-9 months now, no fixes to this version of DA. Are you actually picking favorites? Also there should be more things for the art, you are allowing 18+ art on here, and allowing art thief’s to keep stealing art from artists. Which makes us, the deviants have to watch each other’s backs. It’s gotten quite annoying tbh

Art is wrongly being labeled as mature content?
I joyously hop on and off of deviant art to post and look at people’s refined art! But when I last posted, my art was blocked off; labeled as mature content! I just posted a simple picture of an warrior cats oc that I was working on for a while now, and your team just blocked off my art and labeled it as mature content so now nobody can see it. It’s just disappointing, because there is nothing wrong with my art. My art is completely normal, there is no blood or inappropriate content, etc. yet you guys go out there to “block” my art because it’s “mature content”? Is it my art style or something? Because if it’s my art style then that’s just even MORE disappointing because I can’t change it anytime soon yet. But if this is a bug then you guys have the responsibility to FIX this glitch because it’s annoying and no one can see my art.

Buggy
It’s just been getting buggier and buggier honestly. In the app nearly every time I’m scrolling down through someone’s gallery or even my own favorites, when the next ‘page’ is supposed to load it just acts like there’s nothing further and doesn’t scroll any further. On the app as well is a problem loading the rest of your folders in favorites. The only ones that may load when this bug happens are only the first ones you can see above “Featured” while in your favorites and somethings will reload for no reason. Sometimes clicking back to previous page from a piece of artwork will send you all the way back to the top of the page and it is beyond annoying, and it crashes a lot. For the website the newest issue is pretty much the same as not being able to see more folders. The only difference I’d say is they appear to be there but you literally can’t scroll on the screen. You guys should reeeeaaally fix this.

Scuffed Moderation
I generally favour this app over others to post my art on, I love the community, the features, etc… But there’s one consistent issue I have. There are times when I’ll go to view one of my many perfectly PG works, and it’ll be marked as mature. The majority of my art all has one thing in common, no suggestive themes, nudity, sensitive themes, or even violence, nothing against the TOS. This especially angers me, because as an individual under the age of 18, I can’t even view my own artwork when this happens.
Not to mention the numerous occasions where I’ve stumbled upon highly sensual art, which still hasn’t been marked as mature, whilst artworks such as mine are being hidden from the larger public vision.
I have yet to figure out how to fix this issue on my own page. So this is simply a fair warning to other artists, this will happen a lot.

Fix content filtering
Most of what I took issue with before has been fixed, but content filtering in searches has to change. There are some search terms that the engine just won’t take without saying there might be “sensitive content.” I can’t even search the name “Zelda” without having to turn off the mature content filter, and most of the content I see doesn’t qualify as “mature.” This may be indicative of a bigger problem with the platform itself, but I’d appreciate if it just gave me the results that aren’t labeled “mature” by the site. If the mature content filter is on, don’t tell me to turn it off to see the content I want to see. I don’t need to look at pictures of someone in a state of undress just so I can find a more innocent picture.

Better off using desktop version
I thought it’d be more convenient to have the app rather than going through a web browser, but boy was I wrong. It lacks a lot of features that the desktop version has and it’s hard to navigate. I can’t edit my profile to the full extent or view things like my bio and links. Also I can’t see any Art that I post, it’s all marked as “mature” on the app even when it isn’t anything bad. When I went through the web browser though, I could see it perfectly fine. I’m not sure if this is only a problem for me, but it’s annoying. I really didn’t think the app would be a big issue for me, but I can’t really do anything except look at what other people post. Even that is buggy sometimes. I’d recommend just using the desktop version through a web browser, having the app is practically pointless.

Needs some fixes
The papa has come a long way but it needs some tune ups:
1. Not getting any notifications when I receive notes or the notifications are late or buggy
2. Crashes when trying to reply to click on notification to be taken to the app
3. Not receiving notifications for when I get notifications other than likes and comments
4. Comments for the art prices are messy, click on one and it goes out of order leaving me in a tangles messy cluster of comments which makes it hard to find was was just commented and what was already seen
5. TOO MUCH FEATURES FOR CORE!!! Why can’t everyone get a little slice of core premium features once and awhile, doesn’t really seem fair that core is too expensive AND have more items than the regular members on the app
6. When writing a description for an art piece, after a certain amount of words it goes behind the keyboard and I won’t be able to see what I’m typing or if I need to make corrections, I have to go into another submission format to fix that

Definitely needs some work
I think the app could be really great and have lots of potential if it wasn’t so limited and buggy. I sometimes rather use the web browser on phone instead of the app because of the glitches. 1. When scrolling through galleries or collections the image will repeat after scrolling for awhile 2. unable to access certain pages (such as groups) 3. The app not updating as frequently as the web browser. So post and edits sometimes don’t show up on the app but will show up on the web browser. You’d probably be better off just using your moblie browser and desktop deviantart. This app is not pleasant to use. Will this app ever get a proper update so folks can use the moblie app? I spend more time on my phone than desktop so it would be nice to have a functioning moblie app.

Want to like it, but it’s been broken recently
Recently they’ve changed the way searches pop up which makes it impossible to find what I want, especially compared to the old system. Also I cannot load my collections as only a few pop up and it bugs out when I try to find the others, although I know the other collections still exist. Lastly, when viewing anyone’s collections, I cannot scroll more then 10 images down before getting an infinite buffering.
These issues occur on both the app and website versions, I used to like going through DeviantArt but now there’s little point in using it as I can’t even save and then look back on anything I look at, or find anything I want to find in the first place.
