Love it! Enhancement suggestion for the devs~
I pretty much never write reviews. But I’ve been low-key searching for the perfect app for my journaling over the years. And I’ve finally found the one! I love how you can really simplify the look of the screen to help you stay focused on your writing, yet lots of useful little features are just a click or two away. I love how there’s a little preview for each entry, and the themes, and the search — I just really like all of the features and how they’re neatly tucked away. And I really appreciate the added protection of the password. *So* worth the one-time in-app purchase.
There are enough options that I can feel like I’m customizing the app to my liking, but not too many options such that I feel overwhelmed and distracted by features rather than what the app is intended for - writing.
One idea that would make this *perfect* for me, would be if the devs added the option to choose your cursor color as well as the theme. I love the pink cursor that is built into the darkest theme, but I prefer the second-darkest theme. If I could have the best of both worlds, this would be completely perfect for me. (It’s already pretty close to perfect in my opinion!)

App is currently great, just a couple things I would like to see
This is the cleanest nicest diary app I have seen. I love that you use markdown but format it in a great looking way even while writing. And as others have said, the simplicity of the app realy makes it perfect for journaling. The thing I was looking for forever was the ability to specify a template for new entries, so thanks so much for that!
There are just a couple missing things that are keeping me from switching over: 1) I love this app, but I can’t bring myself to commit to it if it doesn’t have the ability to export to a format that other apps use. I am worried that I’ll want to switch in a month or two and don’t want to go through manually transfering every day’s journal. 2) I write entries right before I go to bed, which is sometimes after midnight. Right now, I don’t see a way to change the date on an existing entry, I only see a way to create a brand new entry. This isn’t a huge deal, but it would just be a nice little convinience to be able to click the date and select a new one.

I am worried that I’ll want to switch in a month or two and don’t want to go through manually transfering every day’s journal. 2) I write entries right before I go to bed, which is sometimes after midnight. Right now, I don’t see a way to change the date on an existing entry, I only see a way to create a brand new entry. This isn’t a huge deal, but it would just be a nice little convinience to be able to click the date and select a new one.

I've Never been so excited about an app since the app store was created
This app is exceptional. I’m new to journaling, and have owned the Diarly app for a few years now. It has been rough getting into the habit of journaling every day, but with the recent changes in Diarly, I have found this app to be far ahead of the competition. I am actually surprised it’s not rated as a top iOS/MacOS journaling app. I assume it is because the user interface is not up there with Day One and other journaling apps, but as a techie, I am more concerned with what is under the hood.
This app is very smart, and it can do much more than the competitions journal (Day One Journal). I would actually say Diarly is more direct competition with Bear Markdown notes than Day One journal, anyway! The Diarly team is onto something here. I think with a little help, and added effort, they could get the product to compete with Friday. There is endless potential with this app and I look forward to seeing it develop.

Wonderful App
I was searching for a daily journaling app and had tried a few before this one, when I came across this one i was a tad skeptical because I figured it would be like all the rest! I was so very pleasantly surprised to see how wondeful this app is and easy to navigate and helps give you prompts when your having trouble writing! It also lets you set reminders, lets you customize it, to fit you writing styles and personality! You can link it across all of your devices which is amamzing as well as you can have multi[ple journals all in one place and add pictures for your memories it just all the way around a beautiful application for anyone and they make it easy to navigate and use for the less computer savvy to the most computer savvy !!! I would absolutley recomment this app to my family and friends! They get five stars from me !!!

The only reasonable option
I’ve used DayOne for almost 10 years but stayed on the classic app for the longest time because I couldn’t justify upgrading and paying their ridiculous subscription prices. The app slowly has died in newer versions of iOS and macOS so I set out to find an alternative. After testing several services I ended up going with Diarly! The iPhone and Mac app stay in sync with iCloud and it’s more secure then the way DayOne was storing my entries. Over the last few months of use I discovered a few bugs and made a few feature requests and the developer was quick to push updates to fulfill them! The only complaint I have is the price. I really hate subscriptions and $20 is the most I’m willing to pay. As long as the price doesn’t increase I’ll be happy continue to use, support, and recommend this app!

Best value, UI and user experience
Diarly has the best UI, usability, and intuitive features of the handful of journal/diary apps I’ve tried. It has all formatting features I need when I need them; the UI gets out of the way and just lets me write. When I do need formatting, the controls that come up are so clean and easy to use, just like the rest of the app.
The subscription price is worth it and half (or more than half) of what comparable apps in the same class cost. I rarely write reviews but this app deserves it.
If there was a negative I could bring up - I wish the heading level control allowed me to long press it to choose from a drop down or list of what level I need. As it is at the time of this writing, I need to click a few extra times to get the desire heading level. But this is just a nitpick. Kudos to the Diarly team. Keep up the good work.

Dont support lifetime purchase and its very expensive not worth buying i think 5$ is very good for lifetime purchase (Black Friday) And you should reward the fans of your application as gifts for those who use your application with a lifetime purchase at a reasonable price, and all people can buy it. I think $ 5 is a very appropriate price. If you decide to reward the fans of the application, I hope that you will publish it in the AppRaven app so that we know the latest news about your generosity —- and dont support free iCloud save this it a bad point for the app i hope you chick this and i got problems when use the app when i select text and move for the right side immediately go back from the last note file i hope you solve this annoying problem and dont support move note file on new folder and create folders for your note file and not have app icon writed on it pro version if we can buy it with lifetime so can people can see i buying your app with a pro version, i have respect i hope !!❤️🩹😓

I have FOUND the one
I am someone who mind does not seem to have a resting day due to a lot of things. Among them is this urge to write about my day/life, the many business ideas running through my mind, and to keep track of the many priorities in life. Sure I have my Iphone's notepad, but it is limited. Since finding this app, I can say that I love the features/functionality that it provides. Chief among my likes of Diarly are the timeline, where I can almost chronicle my day/life, and the notes, where I can jot down business ideas and really anything in my mind at the moment. With the separation of timeline and notes, the two do not mix together, as each of them has a different purpose. The app has given greater sense to my life and I am appreciative of it.

So Many Positives, BUT…
I’ve been trying multiple journaling apps and there are a lot of REALLY GOOD things about Diarly. The UI is super clean and intuitive. I love all of the customization options available. I really like that it syncs over iCloud, not a private server. Importing entries from Day One worked flawlessly and even brought over all the relevant meta data. And honestly, I think for all of the features this app offers, Premium is a really good value.
BUT… I encountered one HUGE bug that made the app unusable for me. Every time I set it up on a new device, the default journal was overwritten. The title of the journal was changed back to “My Diary”, all of the settings (such as my custom prompt) were reset to default, and all of my entries were GONE.
I really hope the developer is able to fix this glitch, because I think otherwise this app is really good. But I can’t recommend it as-is.

Great app but needs just one more thing...
I recently switched from DayOne to this app. Importing my entire notes collection along with journal folder structure was super easy. I love the fact that this app uses iCloud for sync function which is my preferred service for all sync features and document storage. I really like the themes as well. iPhone and iPad apps are also very well designed. However, one thing I really want is the ability or option to display all note entries as separate cards rather than all entries from the same day combined as one card/page with individual entries separated by line and time/date stamp. Many of my same day entries contain very different topics/subjects and I don’t want them all to be in the same card/page. If this option becomes available, I will upgrade to 5 stars.
