I was looking for a simple video player that would allow me to play an animation of a working engine. Most video players have a big interruption as they re-load the movie, and some of them won't even allow you to repeat it without manual keystrokes.
This one handles the video looping very well, but with a MAJOR limitation: The app is only written to handle ONE video at a time.
If you want to play another video, you'll need to quit the program, link to your computer for an iTunes file transfer, delete the ONE video and replace it with another, and then you can restart the program to play the new video.
The beauty of the iPad and the iPhone is that they're so light and portable. If I have to bring my computer along as well, I may as well play the video on my computer!
Accordingly, this program desperately needs the ability to load in several videos at once with the iTunes file transfer, and then be able to select which of them to play in a simple selection screen. Once that video is selected and playing, I could live with re-starting the app to select a different video, because I can do that without having to go all the way back home and re-connect to my computer. Better would be a simple pinch gesture on the screen - that would be very simple and useful, without cluttering up the video playing screen in any way.
Another problem with this app is the poor documentation. I had to experiment with different file formats before I could get this to play anything. It won't play ".AVI" formatted videos. It won't play ".MOV" formatted videos. If you try to play either of these, it just gives you a black screen. The only format I've found that works is the ".MP4" format. This should be documented in the description of the app.
AND, if you load a video in the wrong format, it ought to give you an error message, something like: "Currently only .MP4 videos are supported."
I'll be keeping this app because it is useful to me - but I hope to see some upgrades to overcome these limitations.
