Ukrainian
I purchased this book to use with Duolingo to begin learning Ukrainian. I like the fact that it had a free audio app, but like many others here I was unable to have the barcode scan work. I found out my device has to be set to Ukrainian for the barcode scan to work. The app worked well until I realized it only has the English audio files and not the Ukrainian. I had hoped do use this to assist in Ukrainian pronunciation, but that is not possible. Caveat emptor!

Pretty useless for the way I want to use it
Can’t believe this app is designed without the ability to search for a specific word or a topic (like “travel”, “restaurants”, etc.). It’s strictly by page number from the book. This is very limiting because I’m not going to carry the book around. Preferably, I would have liked using this as a quick reference or as a study supplement for specific topics while waiting somewhere.

The app seems to only have English audio files and no Ukrainian audio files. The book itself is neat but the app is useless if you are looking to learn the pronunciation.

So apparently your phone languages needs to be set to the same thing as the dictionary language? Lame and limited.

Downloaded it to help practice Ukrainian pronunciation and found out it only has audio for the English words….complete waste of time.

This app is a miss…
I bought the Ukrainian version. The app only tells me the English pronunciation… Makes the app useless to me. Add the Ukrainian language.

Very nice to hear the correct pronunciations
We just bought the German and Italian versions. The audio app was very difficult to find in the App Store since the book doesn’t tell you the actual name of the app to search for.
After finding the app, downloaded, installed, and unlocking it, it works great.
The only complaint is that in order to use the app, we have to have the book handy, since the only search option is via page number, not by words. Yes, the book does state that the search is by page number, but if I could look up words, it would be much more useful, especially while traveling.

Helpful for pronunciation and memorization
I didn’t have any problems downloading the Italian version. It allows you to hear the native Italian pronunciation, which is important for the letter z (can be pronounced ts or dz) and which syllable is accented (no consistent rules in Italian). That said, it would be nice if the book itself made the pronunciation/ accent clear so you didn’t have to look all of them up (ie note ts/ dz and accents).
I also use it to help memorize the words in a list after I look at the pictures in the book. I do agree it would help to look up words and not just pages.

Slowly, but surely
Took me a while to get it, but once I did it was great. The instructions aren’t very clear. Also, my phone setting with dark night mode made it hard to see the German part. I had to change that. The book did take a bit to download, but when it did it worked great. I bought three books a German and French for myself and Spanish for my mother.
